To celebrate the re-launch of the Bassetts Vitamins range for all the family, they'd like you to share on this thread what you do with your DC (young or old) on a rainy day.

Do check out the video one of our bloggers made for them

Bassetts Vitamins say "we think family life is all about big puddles, big mud, big adventures, big tree-houses, big imaginations, big games, big days out, big messes, big noises and big fun - now we'd love to hear what fun times you and your family get up to when it's raining outside".

As the range includes vitamin products for all ages from 6 months, they'd love to hear from you, whatever age your DC are - whether they are teens or toddlers - what do you do or encourage your DC to do when it's all grey and rainy outside?

Add your comment to the thread and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for John Lewis.

Thanks and good luck.

Crafts - the DDs love crafty things - making masks, colouring in, making models etc. Or baking. Or just put the waterproofs on and go outside anyway.

bluebump · 24/11/2015 21:04

We still go out in the rain...as long as it's not torrential! Other favourite activities on a rainy day would be swimming (along with the rest of the town!) or stay home and have a lazy day making Lego or watching films.

voyager50 · 24/11/2015 23:22

We love going out in the rain but if we do stay in making up a comic or magazine with stories and pictures and puzzles - both hand drawn and cut and pasted is always fun.

Like many of the the posts we also enjoy baking.

ouryve · 24/11/2015 23:22

Mine are 9 and almost 12. We just get on with life, when it rains. if we're doing one of DS1's great bus tours of the Northeast, we simply plan a route which takes in towns and villages with bus stations and decent bus stands, rather than half bus shelters in the middle of a village. Getting a family explorer bus ticket can be a great way of avoiding mass cabin fever when the weather's dire.

chumbler · 25/11/2015 01:46

PJ day! We are always so busy I think there's nothing wrong with staying in all snuggly, having a late breakfast, a good play and a long nap when it's horrible outside!

SaltySeaBird · 25/11/2015 04:38

We put on wet weather gear.

In the local park when it rains puddles are bigger, little streams flow faster for pooh sticks and we get the playground to ourselves. The only negative is that the slide gets too fast.

Then it's home for hot chocolate and a shared bath with more bubbles than is sensible.

My DD is three and we don't mind wet days at all!

VegetablEsoup · 25/11/2015 07:59

yep, get raingear on and go outside.

Meredithgraze · 25/11/2015 09:35

Either still go out, if activity allows. So much fun to be had just going puddle jumping. Indoors we play board games, craft, salt dough, baking, film days with hot chocolate and marshmallows. We also have a table tennis set that attaches to our dining table so we enjoy that too.

sharond101 · 25/11/2015 12:30

We build a den, bake cookies, paint, play doh, board games, play snap, mega blocks, skittles etc

Lulabellx1 · 25/11/2015 16:51

Put on the welly boot and wet weather gear and go and jump in muddy puddles! There is only one rule... we must have hot chocolate on our return :)

StickChildNumberTwo · 25/11/2015 21:26

My daughter's just getting into doing crafty things so painting's a good one here at the moment. Baking always goes down well, or there's snuggle up and watch a DVD.

SweetPeaPods · 25/11/2015 21:47

We either have a lazy pyjama day. Set up the brio rail track, get out all the duplo or paints & play doh.
Or our local farm has loads of indoor areas and excellent indoor play areas. Pop on wellies and puddle suits and splash around the farm too.

Quills · 26/11/2015 11:02

Often we go outside regardless! Puddlesuits and wellies on, jump in all the big puddles on the way to the shops and pick up some ingredients for baking when we get back.

Lego and Duplo often makes an appearance too, and if they're going really stir-crazy I break out the super crafts box from the top shelf - glitter, pom poms, pipe cleaners and googly eyes will always keep them happy!

BrieAndChilli · 26/11/2015 14:14

PJ day with films and popcorn
Tips the millions of Lego bricks onto the floor and have a Lego day
Baking
Build a den with the dining table and lots of blankets

missp0603 · 26/11/2015 18:32

We take all the cushions off the sofa and create a cushion castle. The carpet around the outside is the moat, which has crocodiles in! Or we bake biscuits and cakes and decorate. Or we get the Lego out and make a pirate den.

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 26/11/2015 20:38

Baking, colouring, reading, watching movies or strictly.

gemima27 · 26/11/2015 21:56

lots of craft

PennyPants · 26/11/2015 22:46

We meet up with friends and their dc a lot, go for a walk or whatever, don't bother about the weather. We have been known to have a game of cricket in the rain, which was really fun. Then we finish off with a meal in the pub or cafe.

Gcalgske · 26/11/2015 23:18

We live in the NE Scotland and as my granny would say 'we are waterproof'. Wellies, splash suits and puddle jumping top the list, duck feeding and forest walks too. If it's horrendously windy or bitterly cold we'll stay in and watch peppa play educational board games Wink or bake yummy treats. One of our rainy walks recently identified a late bramble bush and a hazelnut tree so our current favourite is bramble and apple crumble (with hazelnuts in the topping). Yum.

theshooglypeg · 26/11/2015 23:42

Last time it was too rainy to go out I did baking and painting, couldn't think what else to do with them and decided they could spend the rest of the afternoon in the bath. They were delighted 😀

SuzCG · 27/11/2015 10:24

None of us like rainy days outside, they are definitely stay at home days for us. Tends to be when all the arty/crafty/makey things come out (all those birthday presents that get pushed to one side). Also LEGO building competitions are a winner in our house - we come up with a theme and all get our imagination going & create our masterpieces. Den building is popular too. Good time also to put on films that we haven't watched in ages - and have treats while we watch them.

asuwere · 27/11/2015 14:32

We just carry on as normal here, no special activities. We usually decide what we're doing before looking out the window! :)

Peaches1234 · 27/11/2015 15:32

We carry on as normal usually, but wellie walks are definitely a must when its wet outside. The children love getting muddy and stomping through puddles, simple things!

Eva50 · 27/11/2015 15:36

Well, it's often rainy here so we just carry on as normal but there's nothing nicer than coming home for a shower, hot drink and a night at the telly.

G1veMeStrength · 27/11/2015 22:24

Gawd I hate loathe and detest the rain. If DC have sports commitments we obvs do them anyway. I have a lot of water proof football-watching clothing :(

But I am so past muddy puddles. I cba with all the wet muddy clothes and floor and general chaos it brings. I get two days away from the office each week I don't want to spend them gritting my teeth and pretending puddles are fun Sad
