Gifts I have been given, paintings the children have done, mementos from my childhood home, photos of my family taken over generations, all my little personal treasures make my house a home.

starlight36 · 27/11/2015 16:35

All of the general clutter and toys we accumulate make our house a home. Although i sometimes hanker after some of the 'perfect' designer houses in the glossy mags it doesn't reflect our life and the fun my DC derive from their many many toys and hard crafted artwork.

DartmoorDoughnut · 27/11/2015 18:32

The woodburners and the snuggly throws make it very homely, its hard to drag us out to walk the dogs on particularly wet days!

DinosaursRoar · 27/11/2015 20:10

the decorations the DCs have done and proudly arranged, make it feel homely at Christmas, but then all year round, it's the DCs who make this a home, not just a house. And yes, they mark the walls, and there's a shed load of toys every where (and sodding Bear YoYo cards all over the place), but it's them that move it from somewhere I sleep and eat to a home.

LittleReindeerwithcloggson · 28/11/2015 00:07

The tree and the decorations put up by the whole family. Every year since tiny my DC have chosen a new bauble every year and it's lovely to see them on the tree.
Coming home and just flopping on the sofa with a hot drink knowing its your space to relax in.
The cats asleep on the chairs or beds purring away.
Just feeling comfortable in your own little world

The home-made decorations, biscuits, and cakes that I make with my 4-year-old son.

We have fairy lights up all year round. We also have candles, dimming lamps and plenty of throws and cushions!

sweetsomethings · 28/11/2015 06:24

the smells of homemade baking yummy

Elizasmum02 · 28/11/2015 06:44

Aside of all the pictures, soft furnishing and candles etc, what makes my house a home are the memories made there

tabbaz123 · 28/11/2015 06:51

the twinkling of the fairy lights always seem to finish it off for me! Obviously the family, fun and laughter are the main ingredient for a happy christmas home

suzyq50 · 28/11/2015 07:13

I have photos everywhere. Also scented candles are always on the go & during Christmas season I use cinnamon or pine scents

hmariez · 28/11/2015 07:16

Meals around the dining room table that seem to go on forever as we all catch up on each others news.

steviestarship · 28/11/2015 07:31

My wife and two daughters make our house a home. Without them it would just an empty shell.

maryandbuzz1 · 28/11/2015 07:31

Has to be my family. Having a pet is also part of it in our house. A cosy atmosphere and processions help too.

israrbaig · 28/11/2015 07:36

My children make it a home

tiameg · 28/11/2015 08:00

Cooking smels! Cinnamon, spices, baking gingerbread...no amount of tinsel can evoke the same 'it's Christmas' response' :)

EmNix · 28/11/2015 08:17

Being able to come home and put the Christmas tree lights on. A bright sparkle in the corner of the room. the fire glowing. Settled down cosy and snug with a hot chocolate and the Christmas movie channel. Relaxing, homely, Bliss!

christinelucey · 28/11/2015 08:19

Photographs on the walls of my family and friends, our open fire and the odd vase of flowers.
