Cadbury Milk Tray are keen to hear from Mumsnetters about the most thoughtful gesture you’ve ever received from a partner.

Cadbury say “The Milk Tray man is back! He’s a caring and daring type, thoughtful yet thrill-seeking, and as ever he’ll go to any lengths to deliver a box of Milk Tray to that special lady. So we’d love to hear from Mumsnetters about the lengths someone has gone to deliver a thoughtful gesture for them.”

Has your partner ever gone the extra mile to make you feel special? Have they surprised you with an out of character romantic gesture or gone above and beyond when it came to thinking of a treat or birthday present for you? Maybe they whipped up a special dinner with all your favourite dishes after you'd had a hard day at work? Perhaps they came along with you to see your favourite band, even though they’re not so keen? Perhaps they’ve done something that to an outsider wouldn’t seem like a big deal, but meant the world to you.

Whatever the gesture, Cadbury would love to hear about it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher to spend on a treat for someone special.

My husband is pretty good. He knows I run around all week working and tidying up after him and the kids. He always gives me a couple of hours on the weekend to chill out.
We are just about to have another baby and he has been a diamond at preparing the cheese and onion sandwiches I have NEEDED.
Definitely the little things in this house. It's just about knowing how much we appreciate each other. He could do with a little help on the gift buying front though!!

My sister took my two children off my hands for a sleepover, what a brilliant and thoughtful gesture!!

iwantavuvezela · 26/10/2015 14:32

When my daughter was about one and I was feeling the strain of no sleeping, my husband booked for me to spend a night in a hotel in Brighton, complete with a massage .... it was absolutely glorious to just be on my own for a whole 36 hours. I would never have spent that amount of money on it, but he found a wonderful boutique little hotel, got me a train ticket, and waved me goodbye with a smile and told me to relax.

a food hamper from my sister!

My husband is always so attentive and surprises me with lovely gestures and ideas. A few months back, I came home from a busy day of meetings in London and expected the house to be dark and everyone in bed, but my husband waited up for me and had already some dinner (I was starving by that point) and a lovely cup of tea waiting for me - well needed! This gesture really melted my heart, especially as I knew he had to get up only hours later to start an early shift at work.

some Hotel Chocolat chocolates from my now partner but at the time we were just meeting up for an hour here and there. He heard me say I liked them and the next time I saw him he had bought me 3 packs, that's when I knew it was true love, haha!

For my 25th my boyfriend sent me 5 giant bunches of flowers to my work place, 22 years later he has never bettered that!

kijala1976 · 26/10/2015 19:12

When I'd had an operation last year my hubby did everything for me, helped me get dressed/bathed, made me endless cups of coffee, cooked, cleaned, looked after the kids as well as going to work. He never once complained and it made my recovery a lot easier as I didn't need to worry about a thing!

DH bringing my favourite chocolate and flowers home for no reason - or a good friend cheering me up by leaving me a note entitled "Reasons I love MustBeThursday"

I've been going on and on about a little summer house just for me about a week ago a lorry arrives with a load of timber . Now in the garden is the near finished little summer house which I wanted so pleased . Can't say he never listens anymore .xo

Fleur78 · 26/10/2015 21:14

He let me have a lie in this weekend to take advantage of the extra hour the kids missed!
Then brought me up breakfast and a coffee in bed awesome first lie in since I got the dog in the summer

My partner surprised me with a new bag after mine was falling apart. Sounds pretty ordinary but it made my day :)

Julieguy · 26/10/2015 22:58

It was our 20th wedding anniversary this month, and our 3 daughters clubbed together and paid for 2 nights in Venice for us (flights and hotel all arranged for). A total surprise and the most thoughtful thing anyone could do. I just love them so much. We had a fantastic time aswell.

I heard a song on the radio recently which I absolutely loved, it was an old one - but I kept listening to it at home on the laptop & jiving away, singing it as I wandered about the house, etc. I don't have an iphone/pd or mp3 player, so any music I listen to is either online, on the radio or on CD player in my card.
I got in the car to drive to work later that week & was delighted to hear the song on the radio as I turned the key in the ignition - only, it wasn't on the radio - my lovely husband had made me a mix tape/cd with that very song at the start! I was so chuffed :)

On my birthday i came downstairs for my twin boys to say mum u cant come down right now.. In 10 minutes please, well they called me down, managed to put a happy birthday song on through the tv and had all their lego figures layed out like they was having a party.. it was brilliant!

My husband doesn't enjoy running. I decided to start doing the 5K Parkrun on a Saturday. He knew that I wouldn't want to run alone so for the last 14 weeks he has run alongside me both on the Saturdays and during the week.

Purplehonesty · 27/10/2015 10:59

When I had dd I had a horrid labour and an emergency section. I felt thoroughly rubbish.
Dh came back to see us the following morning and after a couple of hours said he wanted to pop into town as there was a sale on t shirts and he needed some:
I was so unimpressed!
Thankfully I didn't say anything to him when he got back it turned out he had actually been to a posh jewellers and bought me a diamond necklace and earrings.
Such a thoughtful thing for him to have done and completely unexpected. And the jewellery was gorgeous too!

winnie21 · 27/10/2015 13:47

My husband always has a cup of tea ready for me when I first come downstairs in the mornings and always cooks a lovely Sunday breakfast.

CordeliaScott · 27/10/2015 13:57

When I have had a bad day at work and I get home to find DH has put DD to bed and run me a bath with candles and wine waiting.

Wjjkl · 27/10/2015 16:28

As many others have said, it's the small things that matter. My DH brings me tea in bed every morning which I always find very thoughtful given he's usually rushing to get to work.

pusinky · 27/10/2015 19:40

having a stranger pay for my bus fare when I lost my wallet.

HitsAndMrs · 27/10/2015 21:01

My DM bought me and my DH a spa weekend for our honeymoon. We have 2 DDs so we weren't going to do anything. She even babysat for the whole weekend.

ceeveebee · 27/10/2015 21:02

Just after my twins were born, my sister came to visit and brought me a hamper of all the things I couldn't eat when pregnant - blue cheese, pate, red wine etc. Then the next morning after we'd had a night from hell and got about 1 hours sleep she made me the best ever full English breakfast - amazing sister that she is!

sadiewoohoo · 28/10/2015 13:50

When I had my ovary removed last November there was a bit more to do in there than doctors originally thought so I ended up being more poorly than I had predicted without having planned for it. My neighbour brought me fresh healthy meals every evening and I appreciated it so much!

mynellie · 28/10/2015 15:56

my friend who i had only known for 2 years at the time thought nothing of taking in my eldest son when i was rushed into hospital for surgery and making sure he got to school and looked after him till i was able to resume mum duties she truly was amazing and needless to say we have been best friends ever since
