Thirty-five years since his first appearance, the Milk Tray Man is back and is being re-imagined for the 21st century. Cadbury are keen to hear from Mumsnetters about who they think best represents the modern Milk Tray Man (or woman!).

Cadbury say “The Milk Tray man is back and he’ll be daring but caring, thoughtful yet thrill-seeking - and he’ll go to any lengths to deliver a box of Milk Tray to a loved one.”

What traits do you think the modern Milk Tray Man or woman should have, and who do you think best embodies these qualities? Your favourite actor, dressed to thrill in a smart black polo neck and grappling hooks Grin. Your best friend, who’s helped you through some tough times? Maybe your partner has all the key qualities?

Whomever you think represents the modern Milk Tray Man, Cadbury would love to hear about it.

Everyone who adds a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 Experience Day Gift Card for you and your loved one(s).*

Find out more about the search for the new Milk Tray man here :

You can make your own nomination over here and don't forget to tell us on this thread too.

Thanks

I know he's getting quite old, and I'm in my 30s but Antonio Bandaras would make me swoon as the Milk tray man! Or for a woman how about Meryl Streep, someone who's confident, hardworking a go-getter!

Dairy milk man would have a wry sense of humour. He would whisk you away to Claridges for a lovely stay (ensuing that he has liaised with your mum to take the kids for a full 2 days) then whip out the cadburys dairy milk after an afternoon in the hotel He would be a magnanimous type too, letting me eat all the nut and truffle ones and pretending that he like the strawberry cream and Turkish delight.....

Daniel Craig Yummmmmy

In this day and age, the idea is not appropriate. Men nowadays would be more likely to log on to a website and order chocolates and flowers to be delivered. If the advert is to be re-incarnated, I would sooner see a humourous mickey take of the original.

This is long-ish and slightly off topic but I wanted to tell you about my very own milk tray man.

When I met DH almost 16 years ago in 1999, after a few dates I invited him round to mine for dinner. He arrived holding a huge bunch of flowers and a box of milk tray. When he put the chocs down on the table he put a small card on the top of the box. It was a drawing of a matchstick man with spiky ginger hair, just like him at the time. He said he was my milk tray man.

I knew he was a keeper there and then. I kept the card in my purse all the time. We got married in 2008 and not long after our wedding I went and got a tattoo of the ginger haired matchstick man, much to the delight of the tattooist when I produced the dog eared card for him to replicate. So I now have my red head milk tray man with me forever. Grin

So back on topic, I already have my ideal milk tray man but wouldnt mind the occasional visit from Daniel Craig Smile

Mr Grey Grin

Me

Jamie Dornan would be my choice for the milk tray man, he can deliver chocolates to me with some fluffy handcuffs!

lhlee62 · 25/10/2015 16:49

Ryan Reynolds would be my Milk Tray man

badgermum · 25/10/2015 17:11

Bear Grylls . . . . . A True British adventurer, perfect for delivering those chocolate safely

JoJoBaldwin · 25/10/2015 17:53

Yeah, the whole Bond-theme to the ads has to be subverted or done away with. It's boring and meaningless now. A comedic aspect would be better. Or Nick Cave just standing there going "Fuck the chocolates, I'm what you want to eat" Phwoarr. :-D

MisForMumNotMaid · 25/10/2015 17:59

My milk tray man would be someone who sneaks in catches up on all the washing, puts away the various toys that have found their way to furthest corner of the house from where they're ment to be, gives the house a bit if a spring clean, does the dishes, replaces any bulbs that need replacing, adjusts the odd catching door etc and then leaves before I return having put fresh flowers on the table, tea in the pot, the kettle on so when I return home instead of the daily grind I could sit with a cup of tea and endulge in me time with a few chocs thrown in.

jandoc · 25/10/2015 18:12

Robbie Williams

icemistOBE · 25/10/2015 18:22

Ooh I think the actor Ben Aldridge would be perfect as the Milk Tray Man

He's very handsome, nice and tall, gorgeous brown eyes....

Another vote for Ben Aldridge...

chrin · 25/10/2015 19:52

probably Jason Statham he has rugged good lucks, can do stunts and actually looks the part

AugustRose · 25/10/2015 20:14

I agree with a PP that is should be random acts of kindness - not some 70s bloke creeping around the house wearing black.

You could surprise someone at work to make them smile just for being nice or kind, it could be different celebs if you must have that - someone they would like.

Hopezibah · 25/10/2015 20:24

so glad to see the return of the milk tray man. A younger pierce brosnan would be my perfect milk tray man! Have just had milk tray for the first time in ages and am loving the new flavours and that they got rid of the flavours that are no longer there.

Hopezibah · 25/10/2015 20:26

For a female milk tray lady, I reckon Angelina Jolie would be good. Just spotted someone's suggestion of Bear Grylls and would agree totally with that too as he does a lot for good causes and charity so gets my vote.

myusername12345 · 25/10/2015 20:26

I think it would be my Dad. Otherwise the idea is outdated I'm afraid.
