Thirty-five years since his first appearance, the Milk Tray Man is back and is being re-imagined for the 21st century. Cadbury are keen to hear from Mumsnetters about who they think best represents the modern Milk Tray Man (or woman!).

Cadbury say “The Milk Tray man is back and he’ll be daring but caring, thoughtful yet thrill-seeking - and he’ll go to any lengths to deliver a box of Milk Tray to a loved one.”

What traits do you think the modern Milk Tray Man or woman should have, and who do you think best embodies these qualities? Your favourite actor, dressed to thrill in a smart black polo neck and grappling hooks Grin. Your best friend, who’s helped you through some tough times? Maybe your partner has all the key qualities?

Whomever you think represents the modern Milk Tray Man, Cadbury would love to hear about it.

Everyone who adds a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 Experience Day Gift Card for you and your loved one(s).*

Find out more about the search for the new Milk Tray man here :

You can make your own nomination over here and don't forget to tell us on this thread too.

Thanks

Ah just post it through the letter box and leave me to eat them in peace Wink

Milk Tray Man would arrive soundlessly, leave a box of chocolates, pack of tampons and some paracetamol on my pillow, and bugger off, because it would be that time of the month I'd be reaching for the Milk Tray. I would not be held responsible for my actions were he to come between me and them.

Cocacolaandchocolate · 02/11/2015 22:24

It's my OH definitely... He is a fantastic hands on dad. He's kind, a gentleman, has good manners And makes a lovely cup of tea for me first thing in the morning!! Looks fade but the thoughtfulness doesn't

Doubtfuldaphne · 03/11/2015 19:18

I think the milk tray man should still be an action man or at least a bit of a dare devil, just to make you think you're toying with danger.
However he should have a modern edge.
For example, he could swing in through your window to surprise you but afterwards, he'd clean the glass.
He'd wear all black tight clothing but it would all be ethically sourced.
He'd drive his car through a barrier at high speed just to get to you on time but he'd prepare it fully beforehand ensuring no one was at risk (and he'd check with the insurance company first)
That's my milk tray man. He'd also have a beard. (But expertly well maintained and cleaned using organic products).

Id say my dad- hes soft hearted and always wanting to please people just like my mum too xx

I really think the milk tray man is naff, and relies on gender stereotypes. I'd have him changing the nappies, putting the laundry away and taking the kids up the park so I could get a rest. He can keep his chocolates, I can't eat the damn things as they trigger migraines.

The other route would be confound gender notions and pick Conchita Wurst. Bet that's thrown you.

I'd love to see Ed Sheeran as the Milk Tray Man. He epitomises the modern day man. He is
talented, kind, compassionate and hugely grounded considering his success. He is friends with everyone and everyone wants to be friends with him.
Ed Sheeran delivering me my favourite chocolates [Milk Tray] is the stuff of dreams????
Make it happen for me please, MumsNet. x ??

CMOTDibbler · 04/11/2015 18:49

Alex Brooker from the Last Leg - he's cute, cheeky, up for a laugh, and intelligent.

Or Adam Pearson, because he is a fabulous person, and would be fully up for showing that people with a facial difference can be the hero, not the villain.

Tonkatol · 05/11/2015 01:42

I would choose Matt Baker from The One Show. He used to be a gymnast, so the physical part would be no problem and he comes across as a very kind and sensitive man, but equally a very capable one. From his earlier career as a Blue Peter presenter right through to his current roles, he shows compassion to all and his involvement with young people raising money for Children in Need really melts my heart. Finally, he is an animal-lover and cares about the environment, so is a good representative for today's MilkTray Man. He can come through my window any time!

Random act of kindness would be MUCH better than heroic man swooping down on feeble woman. Or even worse, woman who does too much and hubby gives her a break by 'helping' with children, house etc. Please don't do that whatever you do.

fitwell · 05/11/2015 09:35

the milk tray man had matured, with a wicked sense of humour and a twinkle in his eye. forget those manly gestures we want a caring individual who rescues cats from trees, puts out the bins without asking and does a mean massage

I would like the Milk Tray man to wade through a Scottish bog, dressed in Goretex, bringing the chocolate to a small tent perched by a rainy loch.

Probably a bit niche really. But that's when I'd be most grateful for chocolate.

barkinginessex · 05/11/2015 18:47

Mads Mikkelson... but as himself not Dr Lecter!

iwasyoungonce · 05/11/2015 19:08

Norris off Corrie.

squishee · 05/11/2015 22:38

How can I put this nicely? Get a grip Hmm

Goodbetterbest · 05/11/2015 23:51

I'm never buying MT again, no until you put the Turkish delight back in.

Goodbetterbest · 05/11/2015 23:55

The MT Man is a completely outdated concept. I can shuffle to B&M in my slippers and pick a box up myself, thank you very much. Along with a decent cheap bottle of Merlot and a camping mallet. (Not that I'll be doing that. Until you put the Turkish delight back in. I mean, who in the right mind would replace it with an apple and cinnamon concoction?? Who?? What were you thinking??)

chumbler · 06/11/2015 06:45

It would be me!! Buying milk tray for someone who has helped me

Silky2015 · 06/11/2015 15:03

David Walliams in a spoof set up.or rob Bryant

shoebedo434 · 07/11/2015 17:04

George Clooney would be perfect. the ideal Milk Tray man would be strong, handsome, clever, caring, loyal and silent lol

Lotstodo · 08/11/2015 21:11

It has got to be Damien Lewis for me in a navy blue double breasted suit and he has got to be wearing a pink fitted shirt with a nice tie - I will let him choose!

Or, if we are going back time I think a young Tom Conti - I remember him in 'The Glittering Prizes' many years ago. He was so pleasing on the eye.

BananaDaiquiri · 08/11/2015 22:20

I would definitely go for a comedy angle. How about Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins with Sue as the Milk Tray Woman and Mel as the lady who loves Milk Tray.

lorka · 09/11/2015 10:54

Chris Hemsworth would make a mighty fine Milk Tray Man!!
