SEAT have asked us to find out about the terrible things that Mumsnetters' DC have done to the family car.

Here's what SEAT say: "The new seven-seat SEAT Alhambra comes with everything you’d expect from a stylishly modern MPV. It comes with an abundance of space, technology, plus a powerful and sporty edge. The SEAT Alhambra features a wealth of new equipment and contemporary styling with over a dozen “Best MPV” awards since it was launched.
“Versatility remains a designed-in quality for the New Alhambra, packed with features to keep you comfortable, entertained and in control, it’s perfect for family adventures, no matter how long the journey.”
There's a £300 Love2Shop voucher to be won, so now's an excellent time to share: what are the most infuriating/alarming/astonishing things that your DC have done in or to your family vehicle?

Have sticky fingers smeared melted chocolate buttons across your pristine seats - or spilt a million tiny beads which are still turning up years later . Have you discovered unmentionables down the back of the seats - or been embarrassed by child-based detritus when giving a lift to a colleague?

Whatever it is, we'd love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

My neighbours child rubbed her peanut butter sandwiches into the upholstery and all over the window. No idea why but she no longer goes anywhere with me!

Bellroyd · 13/10/2015 06:11

Scratched the leather seats with their toys - didn't realise what they had been up to until the end of my 200 mile journey - litle gits!

janeyf1 · 13/10/2015 06:36

She drew a picture of a house on the back of my car seat. It was hard to clean it off

ThemisA · 13/10/2015 06:42

Sitting in the front seat while I was cleaning the car in and out he posted multiple cds into the cd player and broke it.

Puppy chewed the door handles and I scraped the side of the car in our drive when son was yelling! Classy car now!

timeforabrewnow · 13/10/2015 07:01

Our dog is like a child (to us definitely) and when he was a 'teenager' he managed to chew his way through not one, but two steering wheels. The second time he chewed it in 3 minutes flat while I was standing next to the car!!

jt75 · 13/10/2015 08:03

Tipped a bucket of sand and shells over the seats and floor.

maryandbuzz1 · 13/10/2015 08:05

Spilt sticky orange juice over the seats
Stuffed sweets down Inbetweeners the seats
Been sick endless times!

bla4bla · 13/10/2015 08:05

made a mess

Asteria36 · 13/10/2015 08:13

My son engraved his name in very big letters, with a rock, all the way down one side of the car. Both doors and side-panels needed complete resurfacing and respray

suzyq50 · 13/10/2015 08:29

Stickers on the headlights, I got them off with some washing up liquid.

createbeauty · 13/10/2015 08:30

DS pooped all up his back ... TWICE! We ended up having to strip him (since he soiled his spare clothes) and sit him on a bin bag on his car seat until we got home to get it all cleaned up!

Ganne1 · 13/10/2015 08:38

They embarrassed us with it! Whenever we went on holiday in our Austin Montego Estate, the rear compartment was always covered by a tonneau cover ... but there was always a light green potty on top of it for all to see!

devito92 · 13/10/2015 08:39

My son decided to help defrost the car .. However he ended up scratching the car bonnet terribly

glenka · 13/10/2015 08:47

Emptied a whole bottle of glitter glue everywhere.

Sallyannlloydjones · 13/10/2015 08:50

Left a chocolate bar in the sun to melt into a gooey mess on the back seat!

BikeRunSki · 13/10/2015 08:56

My mother's dogs chewed through the waiting for her rear lights. It was dark snd she was 10 miles from home!

shawbarbara · 13/10/2015 09:04

My teenage daughter was out with friends - drank vodka - everyone cheering everyone else on - I had to drink to neighbouring town to get her - and of course on the way home she was sick all over the back seat - and the car was only new!!!!!

finleypop · 13/10/2015 09:06

My son pulled at a thread on the back seat & then found he could dig out the foam from underneath, it was a mess

southernsun · 13/10/2015 09:12

Our DS had a nappy which leaked just as we entered a car wash. The smell was horrible and trying to climb about in a smallish car and change a baby who had poo everywhere (clothes and car seat) was a tough challenge!

If my dad was to answer this question I am sure he would say the time I drew him a lovely picture with a screw driver on the side of his car while he was underneath it fixing the exhaust.

lizd31 · 13/10/2015 09:22

Note to self, do not allow little ones to eat chocolate in the car, not only chocolate everywhere but also chocolatey vomit

moonbells · 13/10/2015 09:32

I'd had my car a whole 2 weeks when DS first decided to be sick all over the back seat and floor. He's done it a few times since, enough that I now keep a bottle of Febreze in one back door pocket and a bottle of Dettol in the other! The worst was when we had just set off on holiday. I tried five supermarkets and failed to get any Febreze so the car reeked for the whole 8h journey. And then I found some in the little tiny shop in the seaside village :-D

I now know not to ever give him milk-based drinks before a long journey... and I also keep handy one of the car seat covers left by the garage after a service... and ziplock bags!

The other problem is food rubbish like dropped packets of crisps or bits of after-school snack. Eurgh! I hate cleaning the back seat because it means taking out the child seat to get underneath it, and also to shake the bits out of it!

It currently looks like a rolling rubbish bin. Shock

happysouls · 13/10/2015 09:57

I'd have to say that rather than kid making car an embarrassment for work colleagues its the other way around! Work colleague getting a lift home from boozy work do, decides to get huge kebab to eat on the way home in my car (not part of the deal!) and then drops it pretty much everywhere! I'd have to say that my son has always been pretty good! The worst is mud, but then we're all outdoorsy anyway so thats standard!

phillie1 · 13/10/2015 10:06

drawing on it with permanent markers

hiddenmichelle · 13/10/2015 10:13

A VERY leaky nappy which unfortunately was not just wee. Not my DS fault of course - but it seemed to go everywhere! Ended up getting a new car seat in the end and the smell would not shift!

Laineyflo · 13/10/2015 10:18

Oh, by the looks of it we've got off really lightly! We've had the usual potty training incidents, drink spillages and using the back seat as a dustbin...but other than that they've treated the car pretty well!
