SEAT have asked us to find out about the terrible things that Mumsnetters' DC have done to the family car.

Here's what SEAT say: "The new seven-seat SEAT Alhambra comes with everything you’d expect from a stylishly modern MPV. It comes with an abundance of space, technology, plus a powerful and sporty edge. The SEAT Alhambra features a wealth of new equipment and contemporary styling with over a dozen “Best MPV” awards since it was launched.
“Versatility remains a designed-in quality for the New Alhambra, packed with features to keep you comfortable, entertained and in control, it’s perfect for family adventures, no matter how long the journey.”
There's a £300 Love2Shop voucher to be won, so now's an excellent time to share: what are the most infuriating/alarming/astonishing things that your DC have done in or to your family vehicle?

Have sticky fingers smeared melted chocolate buttons across your pristine seats - or spilt a million tiny beads which are still turning up years later . Have you discovered unmentionables down the back of the seats - or been embarrassed by child-based detritus when giving a lift to a colleague?

Whatever it is, we'd love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

He managed to take off the lid of his cup and spill milk everywhere. We had just set off on our journey(caravan holiday) and it was really hot, the smell just got worse until we just couldn't take it anymore and DH(who is a bit of a perfectionist) spent a few hours of our holiday washing the car, and polishing it, etc. Because he might as well do the job properly. Waste of half a days holiday!

spilt milk everywhere :)

jamielmdjs · 22/10/2015 21:42

Football plus headlights equals a very scared buy and a very grumpy Jamie.

Annbunce · 22/10/2015 21:44

My youngest suffers from travel sickness ... Yuck ... And the smell lingers ...

Dessallara · 22/10/2015 21:45

Being really sick everywhere! Was terrible.

funkyfreks · 22/10/2015 21:51

My Angel of a daughter kicked the back of the front passenger seat over and over again on most of our journeys until some of the fabric gave way, then she decided one day to lean forward and pull the loose cloth making an almighty rip sound and revealing the whole internal part of the seat.

When my eldest was small he decided to brush the leaves off my car- with a wooden yard brush- it scratched everywhere and I could never get the scratches out.

I am like a magnet to bollards in car parks. On one really unlucky day i have managed to hit three, taking two of them out! Needless to say my parking skills need a bit of sharpening up!

toniuk · 22/10/2015 22:07

got on the roof and jumped up and down on it

Jocelynne123 · 22/10/2015 22:09

When she was a toddler my daughter projectile vomited all over the car. I mean everywhere, it was on her, the seats, me, the floor and ceiling. We were stuck in stand still traffic for 2 hours then traffic for a further 45 minutes. She proceeded to projectile vomit a further 4 times missing her bag most of the time all while screaming. Poor baby. I tried to clean her and some of it up with wet wipes while we were stopped. There were not enough wet wipes in the world. The car never recovered and it still smelt like sour milk months later.

mamof3boys · 22/10/2015 22:12

My DS offered to clean my car so I thought, great! Then I discovered him using a scourer to clean the paint work. Luckily I managed to stop him before he caused too much damage Shock

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 22/10/2015 22:13

As a toddler dd smushed soggy wotsits all over the car windows, car seat and herself.

We took her out and got her cleaned up. It was a hot day. By the time we got to it the wotsits were baked onto the window and had to be scraped off.

The cheesy smell was terrible.

Never been able to look at them since

lucyrobinson · 22/10/2015 22:44

My kids seem to love to do naughty things in the back of the car. Both kept pressing the lock buttons down. Surprise, surprise they now both don't work.

Themilseys · 22/10/2015 22:50

Stickers, chocolate, various drinks, bodily fluids, you name it and each car I've had has been full of it. Funny how my OH's car is always pristine....

meggysar · 23/10/2015 08:09

I've learnt never to give them stickers when travelling as they seem to take that as an invitation to redecorate the car interior!!

Firewall · 23/10/2015 09:04

Projectile vomit in the car!! Took days/weeks/months to clean...

MoriartyIsMyAngel · 23/10/2015 09:33

Let my neighbours cats into the backseat where they proceeded to make short work of my new fancy leather seats Sad

RunningGingerFreckleyThing · 23/10/2015 09:41

Drew a spider web in the paintwork with a very sharp stone.

rjsmum11 · 23/10/2015 09:46

we drove it into a french market on holiday & got stuck in the middle, no way out... laughed at by all the locals, cringe!

dd also inserted coins into the stereo which is now on strike permanently

Husband had bought me a new (second hand ) car and was sprucing it up inside and out whilst my enthusiastic toddler helped him. All the excitement resulted in her doing a wee in the passengers seat - my husband did not appreciate her style of christening the new arrival!

VickyRsuperstar · 23/10/2015 11:22

I drive a minibus and have 9 children so I've seen a lot down the years! I noticed the other day that my 3 year old has bitten chunks out of the back of headrest that is in the middle of the front row! Every time we've been sat in a parked car he gets his belt off and stands up on his car seat (naughty!) and he leans on the headrest when talking to us, anyway I suddenly twigged that he was biting away at it and when I looked behind, there are a series of big chunks missing and it's going to have to be replaced! I asked him why and even though I saw he spat out a big chunk of rubber - apparently it wasn't him LOL!
I also have lots of silly pictures and words that come up every time the windows get steamed up! I frequently find that I'm driving round blissfully unaware that someone has put "poop face" or a picture of a bum shape or something silly on the window next to me!
My niece was the worst though, my dad found that she'd been bored and decided to pass the time by scratching deep artistic marks into his paintwork! My parents were not happy, she's 18 now and never lived it down as my dad still has the car and the marks!

clauski · 23/10/2015 12:03

Muddy feet all over the back of the front seats is the regular one!

GeorgeW78 · 23/10/2015 12:06

Opened a shaken bottle of fizzy orange and now there are lots of small brown splodges on the roof. Very annoying.

emily13 · 23/10/2015 12:08

Being sick is about the worst thing, but that's bad enough!

nanoobaku · 23/10/2015 12:12

put the interior lights on over night and had a flat battery next morning
