McCain has asked us to find out what Mumsnetters’ favourite family teatime meal is.

Here’s what they say, “5th October sees the launch of the Nation’s Teatimes campaign by McCain, which sees the brand turn real families into teatime TV stars. McCain is asking real families from across the UK to share real life video clips of themselves enjoying their tea on their dedicated hub www.mccainteatime.co.uk. From Monday to Thursday, the family videos from across the country will be edited against the clock into a McCain ’Teatime Today' advert and aired on ITV later that same evening at 8.45pm during a teatime ad-break.”

Whether you eat tea around the table or tucked up on the sofa, from the hectic to the calm, to over in a flash, no matter what teatime is like in your house there is always good stuff happening and it's where some great family moments take place.

So, what’s your favourite family teatime meal? Maybe you love your family pizza evenings when everyone helps to add their own toppings? Do you have a great beef casserole that everyone enjoys? Or is just beans on toast that the family love?! Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

We always eat as a family and chat about our day. I think our favourite meal will be clear out the freezer day:) today was one of those, burgers, sausages and a chicken breast ( 1 or 2 left not enough for meal of 4), tomato surprise sauce ( v spicy), naan bread, odd ends pasta with brussels sprouts, carrots and peas.

BrandNewAndImproved · 08/10/2015 23:28

We love homemade chicken kebabs with the kebab shop style red cabbage and chips.

Tip for mcains oven chips, add a splash of oil and salt over them to make them really nice.

mrsglowglow · 09/10/2015 00:12

Italian meatballs and pasta. The one dish I know we will all say yes to and never have any complaints.

clopper · 09/10/2015 00:41

We don't get to sit round a table together as a family regularly due to work commitments. However, a curry or homemade moussaka is a favourite for us.

KipperTheFish · 09/10/2015 05:55

Oven baked risotto, with bacon, cherry tomatoes and plenty of Parmesan.

VaseandCandle · 09/10/2015 08:47

Daal and rice. Its a store cupboard meal, takes about 20 mins to cook with minimal prep and is healthy and tasty. I'm so pleased that my son loves it and at 2 years old is requesting it for dinner.

Firewall · 09/10/2015 09:20

We love fish pies in our family! So easy to prepare in advance and put in oven after school!

SleepyForest · 09/10/2015 09:21

Everybody likes a roast chicken or meatballs with tomato sauce. Sausage casserole is always a hit.

StickChildNumberTwo · 09/10/2015 09:43

Macaroni cheese with added bacon and veg. Or home made pizza my daughter can help choose ingredients for and make.

Byrdie · 09/10/2015 12:46

Homemade vegemince lasagna with hidden veg! Mmmm.

LovelyBranches · 09/10/2015 13:00

Chicken, bacon and leek pie is a winner in our house. Using leftover chicken from a roast.

xxmissbrightsidexx · 09/10/2015 13:39

As a family we rarely get to sit down & all eat together :( but, on the rare occasion that we do, our favourites that we like to eat lasagne, chips, garlic bread.. Or spaghetti bolognese, pizza & chips, or good old fish chips & mushy peas :p

xxmissbrightsidexx · 09/10/2015 13:40

Not forgetting a Sunday roast too!

serendipity1980 · 09/10/2015 13:54

our DC are fussy, but a family favourite is film night with homemade pizza and popcorn - they love it as do we!

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 09/10/2015 14:05

My DSs love home made pork schnitzel and potato wedges. Gets the aggression out with the mallet and they can make a mess with the breadcrumbs!

SmileyShazza · 09/10/2015 14:11

The meal that all four of us love and always eat is spaghetti bolognase and garlic bread.

DS is incredibly fussy so he usually ends up eating something different to the rest of us most days but that is the one meal he will always eat.

bigsnugglebunny · 09/10/2015 14:36

We're another family that likes "picky tea" as a firm favourite. Usually the day we go to the supermarket - we have salad, cherry toms, little sausages, quiche, garlic bread, cold meat, cheeses, grapes, olives. It always gets hoovered up!

FlukeSkyeRunner · 09/10/2015 16:11

The meals we all love are toad in the hole, spaghetti bolognaise, pie made with leftover roast meat and veg and homemade shortcrust pastry. And fish and chips of course!

Lillabet · 09/10/2015 17:41

Fish, chips and peas/gravy. Take out or home made, but actually home made is preferred by the DCsShock.

hunhun007 · 09/10/2015 17:59

As my OH works shifts we not always have the luxury of having the entire family for dinner but if we can, we enjoy seating at our dining table and swapping stories. When it comes to food, we kind of have a Friday pizza tradition – we will prepare a homemade pizza and have a movie night.

We all love green lentil pasta sauce with spaghetti. I like it as it's tasty but has loads of veg in, DH as he says it's nicer than meat bolognaise and DD as she likes slurping the pasta a la peppa pig.

SouthWestmom · 09/10/2015 18:31

The dcs love tinned veggie sausages and beans topped with mash and grated cheese, baked for twenty minutes. Guaranteed to be gone in seconds. Classy!

ahbollocks · 09/10/2015 19:30

Steak and ale pie with chunky chips, peas and gravy. Everytime Grin

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 09/10/2015 20:28

Steak pie, mash and broccoli is the big hit in this house!

ItsaTenfromDen · 09/10/2015 21:34

piri piri chicken skewers, curly fries, salad and fresh crusty bread. Always a winner in our house and quick and easy to make after a hectic day
