McCain has asked us to find out what Mumsnetters’ favourite family teatime meal is.

Here’s what they say, “5th October sees the launch of the Nation’s Teatimes campaign by McCain, which sees the brand turn real families into teatime TV stars. McCain is asking real families from across the UK to share real life video clips of themselves enjoying their tea on their dedicated hub www.mccainteatime.co.uk. From Monday to Thursday, the family videos from across the country will be edited against the clock into a McCain ’Teatime Today' advert and aired on ITV later that same evening at 8.45pm during a teatime ad-break.”

Whether you eat tea around the table or tucked up on the sofa, from the hectic to the calm, to over in a flash, no matter what teatime is like in your house there is always good stuff happening and it's where some great family moments take place.

So, what’s your favourite family teatime meal? Maybe you love your family pizza evenings when everyone helps to add their own toppings? Do you have a great beef casserole that everyone enjoys? Or is just beans on toast that the family love?! Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

My kids love anything quick and easy, like frozen lasagne and chips....anything I have taken a couple of hours over, making from scratch, made with love, they turn their noses up at!

InAndOfMyself · 07/10/2015 07:44

Cottage pie with hidden veg in the mince and added carrot in the mashed potato top, served with a side of dinosaur trees (steamed tenderstem broccoli). This gives me and the DC plenty of veg along with a good portion of protein.

Helspopje · 07/10/2015 07:48

Fishy pie and green veggies

The secret guilty pleasure meal is ham eggs and chips though :)

Lariflete · 07/10/2015 09:24

A family favourite is homemade chicken dippers with oven chips and vegetable steam pots. DH and I like the McCain's 5% fat chips as we follow Rosemary Conley and the whole meal fits in with her 5% fat rule. The chicken dippers are a lot nicer than any frozen / bought version, they're healthy, easy to make and the kids love them.

Spaghetti bolognese is popular here. We have it with garlic bread, lots of parmesan and a salad.

NoisyOyster · 07/10/2015 09:49

Our favourite family meal is a "mezze style" mixed with some Spanish elements of tapas Grin

Lots of bits; Arabian salads, hummus, taramaslata, charcuterie, cheeses, mini individual pots of tagine, piles of couscous with pomegranates, and lots of random French bread!

Everyone sits at the table which is COVERED in food and eats and eats until holding their tummy and groaning they're full

Love it

We love having some baked Camembert stuffed with garlic and thyme with fresh crusty bread for starters. Then for mains we love some grilled sea bass with roasted garlicy potatoes and some salad or stir-fried vegetables - delicious!

del2929 · 07/10/2015 10:07

chicken wraps are a firm fave in our house.

sharond101 · 07/10/2015 10:45

We love chicken in so many ways, stir fried, roasted, in chinese recipes, all home cooked but rarely with chips!

Anononooo · 07/10/2015 11:26

Mexican style tacos - we do vegetarian with refried beans and meat ones. With guacamole, sour cream, cheese, jalapeno peppers etc.

OliverS123 · 07/10/2015 12:46

We love a home cooked lasagne with garlic bread, especially on a Friday after school in the winter when we light candles and then have a movie night with chocolate!

CheeseEMouse · 07/10/2015 12:48

We like it when we can all eat the same thing together - so at toddler tea time. Favourite is probably fish pie as everyone tucks in with gusto. Much more fun than 2 separate meals.

purplepandas · 07/10/2015 12:54

Spaghetti bolognaise (veggie as I am veggie).

ShatnersBassoon · 07/10/2015 12:56

Sausage and mashed potatoes, with onion gravy and peas. Veggie sausages for me Smile

Quills · 07/10/2015 13:24

Cheesy chilli nachos is a big hit with everyone here, but in the winter it's a creamy chicken and mushroom pie with chips and gravy we always turn to.

RunningGingerFreckleyThing · 07/10/2015 14:35

Sausage, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas, sweetcorn and onions with lots of gravy. Always clear plates for that. Or spaghetti bolognaise.

CMOTDibbler · 07/10/2015 14:37

Lasagna is the favourite dinner here

starlight36 · 07/10/2015 14:53

Homemade lasagna and garlic bread - one of the few things both DC like.

Lulabellx1 · 07/10/2015 15:36

There are so many...

Roasts (of course)
Chilli
Spag Bol
Macaroni Cheese
Bangers and Mash
Carbonara
Pizza
Jacket spuds
Sausage Casserole
Chicken Pie
Cottage Pie
Meatballs
Pasta Bake
Fish and Chips
Frajitas

Any of the above and they're happy :)

Lulabellx1 · 07/10/2015 15:37

Oh, I forgot Lasagna!!

marymanc · 07/10/2015 16:56

I delicious homemade pizza with lots of different toppings.

TheSpottedZebra · 07/10/2015 17:12

Fajitas for us too. Popular with DC as they can eat using their hands, easy to adapt to veggie me and meat-eating others, and I can also use up any rogue bits of veg lurking in the fridge. And it's super-quick too.

HitsAndMrs · 07/10/2015 17:55

Chips, beans and runny eggs with brown sauce and buttered bread. Yum!

feee39 · 07/10/2015 18:08

FISH FINGERS, CHIPS N BEANS MMMMM WITH A BLOB OF TOMATO SAUCE ! Reminds me of school dinners on a Friday, jesus that was 'back in the day!'

DinosaursRoar · 07/10/2015 18:37

we normally eat at the table, and chicken fajitas are a big hit with everyone here (or 'chicken roll roll' as the 2 year old calls them).
