McCain has asked us to find out what Mumsnetters’ favourite family teatime meal is.

Here’s what they say, “5th October sees the launch of the Nation’s Teatimes campaign by McCain, which sees the brand turn real families into teatime TV stars. McCain is asking real families from across the UK to share real life video clips of themselves enjoying their tea on their dedicated hub www.mccainteatime.co.uk. From Monday to Thursday, the family videos from across the country will be edited against the clock into a McCain ’Teatime Today' advert and aired on ITV later that same evening at 8.45pm during a teatime ad-break.”

Whether you eat tea around the table or tucked up on the sofa, from the hectic to the calm, to over in a flash, no matter what teatime is like in your house there is always good stuff happening and it's where some great family moments take place.

So, what’s your favourite family teatime meal? Maybe you love your family pizza evenings when everyone helps to add their own toppings? Do you have a great beef casserole that everyone enjoys? Or is just beans on toast that the family love?! Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

Enchiladas are our favourite with lots of toppings and sauces

Misscocopops · 10/10/2015 01:08

Mine - healthy BBQ chicken pizza. Made using a tortilla as a base, tomatoe purée. Topped with chicken with BBQ seasoning, bacon medallions, sweet corn, peppers, onions, half fat mozzarella. Fresh chive, served with a side salad on cucumber and cherry tomatoes!

DP - homemade fajitas using fajita seasoning cooked in tin of chopped tomatoes, onions and peppers. Made up with cucumber tomatoes and tesco a own sour cream and chiive dressing with plenty of cheese.

DD who has just turned 1, broccoli and baby bel lol!!

We are a busy family of 5 and all like different things so tends to be a bit like a cafe in our home - to the extent that I have 2 ovens to acommodate all the dishes going in and out of the oven to enable us all to eat at roughly the same time but different meals iyswim !
However we do have a few favourites that we all eat together and enjoy together . Tend to be on 2 nights a week Tuesday and Sunday.
Sunday is the obvious Sunday Roast with Yorkshire Puddings and Tuesday is the favourites are Shepherds Pie, Mince and Dumplings or Steak and Chips.
Thinks this works well for our family enables us all to catch up on our busy lives.

My kids are still quite little so a huge favourite is toad in the hole!

We make it and eat it all together! The kids love to join in and we serve with some veggies and gravy! Yums!

BathshebaDarkstone · 10/10/2015 14:20

It's pizza or cottage pie in this house.

SQuashandasqueeze76 · 10/10/2015 14:37

It's either a traditional Sunday roast, whether that's chicken, beef or lamb. We have this most Sunday's as we all enjoy it. Quick and easy meal and kids favourite fish fingers, oven chips and spaghetti hoops.

Our favourite is curry day, I make a basic curry for dh, a korma for the younger dc and a balti or madras for older dc and me. Home made naan bread, and loads of popadoms. Everyone is happy.

JustSeven · 10/10/2015 20:55

Can't go wrong with a spag bol, failing that sausage and chips!

Whyisitsodifficult · 10/10/2015 20:58

Friday night pizza night! Love it, I don't have to 'cook' as such, just some raw veg on the side, quick and easy!

ButtonMoonLoon · 10/10/2015 21:18

Fish pie made with lovely creamy mashed potato and served its garlic bread and corn on the cob. Great at any time of the year!

campocaro · 11/10/2015 08:54

creamy veggie risotto with lovely parmesan shavings...

IWasThere4Aug12 · 11/10/2015 08:58

Slow cooked pulled pork with fajitas and loads of different sides everyone can help themselves to; avocado, tomato, peppers, cucumber, salad leaves, cheese, sour cream and best of all the cooking sauce

TheWoodenSpoonOfMischief · 11/10/2015 09:09

I try to make food that everyone likes as I only want to cook one meal but there'll often be some who's eating without enthusiasm.
The meals that everyone enjoys are homemade pizza, stir fried rice, chicken drumsticks with wedges and veg, roast dinners and homemade burgers.

CordeliaScott · 11/10/2015 09:45

It's difficult finding a meal that everyone likes so probably Cheese and potato pie with spaghetti hoops (and I just ignore my carb dodging Dh)

Trills · 11/10/2015 12:42

Ham egg and chips.

Runny yolk of course.

gazzalw · 11/10/2015 18:18

Baked potatoes and different choices of fillings - baked beans and grated cheese, tuna mayo or coleslaw and grated cheese - and a side salad.

NotSkinnyYet · 11/10/2015 19:20

There are lots of different meals we love, generally we each pick a meal that we'd like to eat in that week. Home-made spaghetti bolognese is always a favourite in this house, with a good sprinkling of cheese on top and garlic bread. It's really nice to sit around the table as a family and each talk about our days.

SuburbanRhonda · 11/10/2015 19:26

Home made vegetarian spag bol.

Hits the spot every time - even for non-vegetarian guests Smile

BellaVida · 11/10/2015 20:06

We have a few family classics and being a family of 6, that is quite an achievement! They are:
Veggie lasagne ( vegetables only, no meat substitute)
Veggie korma (with chicken-style veg protein and veg) with basmati rice
Veggie sausages, mash, Yorkshire puddings and thick onion gravy
Home made individual pitta bread pizzas and garlic dough balls
Classic oven baked fish and chips, with mushy peas
We don't get many opportunities to sit together and eat a meal as we both work, but there is nothing better with a bit of banter and silliness thrown in!!

Dontsayaword · 11/10/2015 20:49

Macaroni cheese with sweetcorn, tomatoes and spinach added to make it slightly healthier is about the only meal that is guaranteed to be eaten by everyone.

Osquito · 11/10/2015 21:13

If I want to make something we'll all eat and enjoy, it'll be chilli con carne with rice! Sour cream or/and grated cheddar on the side with a fresh salad. Us adults love it, fussy dd happily eats it and our 17 month old ds wolfs the stuff down... Wish it was so easy to feed everyone all the time!

BeeMyBaby · 11/10/2015 21:39

With the children it's definitely homemade pizza, but if they are not about then I prefer enchiladas (yum yum)!

steviestarship · 12/10/2015 07:08

Spaghetti Bolognese is the winner in my house.
My two girls eat this no problem and there's no moaning about not liking this vegetable or that one, totally oblivious that there's loads been blended into the sauce!!

Kitsune1972 · 12/10/2015 07:13

My 12-year-old daughter doesn't like many of the things I do, which makes things challenging. One meal we all get on with well is taco salad. She and Dad can have nachos with it, whereas I go low carb and leave them out. My daughter has the mild salsa she likes while the grown-ups have a spicier one. For the beef, I use a simple recipe that includes onions, garlic, a bell pepper, tomato paste, cumin, salt, and a little chili powder - it's better, IMO, than using a packet of powder with I-don't-know-what in it. We probably have this meal more often than any other because everyone can customise what they put into it.

hdh747 · 12/10/2015 07:14

Shepherd's pie or Fish pie is always popular.
