McCain has asked us to find out what Mumsnetters’ favourite family teatime meal is.

Here’s what they say, “5th October sees the launch of the Nation’s Teatimes campaign by McCain, which sees the brand turn real families into teatime TV stars. McCain is asking real families from across the UK to share real life video clips of themselves enjoying their tea on their dedicated hub www.mccainteatime.co.uk. From Monday to Thursday, the family videos from across the country will be edited against the clock into a McCain ’Teatime Today' advert and aired on ITV later that same evening at 8.45pm during a teatime ad-break.”

Whether you eat tea around the table or tucked up on the sofa, from the hectic to the calm, to over in a flash, no matter what teatime is like in your house there is always good stuff happening and it's where some great family moments take place.

So, what’s your favourite family teatime meal? Maybe you love your family pizza evenings when everyone helps to add their own toppings? Do you have a great beef casserole that everyone enjoys? Or is just beans on toast that the family love?! Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

Sticky Sweet chilli chicken. Made with chilli sauce and soya sauce. Either with veg, rice, pasta or chips. It depends on what we feel like, what we have in and how healthy the rest of the weeks meals have been. The kids always beg for chips mind xx

Meatballs, meatballs, meatballs. All the boys ever want is meatballs. Usually with chips. Meatballs have become a staple for us as a result. We do try to mix it up - spaghetti meatballs, meatball subs, meatballs in gravy, meatballs on pizza. They're going to turn into meatballs.

Really love traditional meals to my Mum's recipes as it brings back warm feelings of home. Shepherd's pie, Fish pie, rice pudding - very comfy and meals the whole family share.

Roast beef with all the trimmings

21Catherine21 · 20/10/2015 02:05

For our family its Chicken Fajitas, I love putting the Tortillas & all the trimmings in the middle of the table & everyone choosing how they like their own.
Usually (if there is time!) I get the children (or grandchildren now) involved in the preparation of the salsa or soured cream or cooking the chicken or grating the cheese & then they enjoy it even more.

We enjoy a make it yourself Mexican style dinner, fajitas or tacos for example. It's also quite messy which helps ;)

Corned beef hash is a big hit with my boy and me, looks like a dogs dinner with corned beef, potatoes and onions mixed together and beans on the side. But oh so tasty..... yum yum yum

meggysar · 20/10/2015 09:36

In our house we all love a good bowl of gnocchi with a homemade tomato sauce and some garlic bread. They'd eat this everyday if I let them!!

Our family favourites tend to be vegetarian versions of retro food. Veggie lasagne, veggie shepherds' pie.

My favourites are always much spicier, but the above are what DP and the dc get most excited about.
