Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables have asked us to find out how you get the whole family together for a cosy night in.

Here’s what they say, "New Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables are a fun way for all the family to get involved, so we’d love to hear from Mumsnetters about how they encourage the whole family to enjoy a family night in."

So, what do you do to ensure your busy family spends time together? Do you make sure everyone's favourite meal - or dessert - is on the menu? Perhaps there's a TV show that's guaranteed to gather you all in one place? Or do you use more direct tactics like bribery?! Maybe you cut off supply to the wifi or have made the lounge or kitchen an irresistably cosy place to congregate?

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

Eating dinner together early (my son is not yet 2) and hubby and I both doing bedtime routine with DS and cuddling up to watch/(try to ignore the tedium of) In the night garden before DS goes to bed. Then we can sit down to watch our favourite shows and likely fall asleep in the sofa before 9:30..!

DS matches TV or plays internet games, I cook dinner, clear up, then mumsnet.
Just the same as every other BL**dy night.
Cadburys chocolate does not feature. Ever.

I work evenings except Friday night. That's the night we all sit together watching the soaps and Gogglebox. There's wine for the adults and crisps and chocolate to share between us.
Bliss.

oh we love cosy nights in especially when its wintery and dark outside.
we have treat trays which are ladened with popcorn, crisps, dips, jellies and chocolate.
lights out ,heating and lamps and yankee candles on and films at the ready, the dcs love films from when me and dh were younger like home alone and Beethoven Smile
we are running out of "olden days films" as they call them. we are 32 and 34 Hmm

Our favourite family night in would be on an autumn or winter's night watching Strictly Come Dancing with the curtains drawn, the log burner roaring, candles burning and snuggling under blankets with hot chocolate.

We turn all the lights out except the kithchen which w Doug low lights on. We have a family play list in Spotify which we out in and play board games and card games whilst eating crisps and chocolate.

When we have finished I make hot chocolate for everybody with marshmallows, squirty cream and sprinkles.

Then we all pile in our bed together and tell stories as we all fall a sleep.

By midnight the kids are usually fast asleep in our bed and we are snuggled up on the sofa asleep as it gets a bit cramped in a king size bed with four kids!

We love it and do it alternate Saturday nights when I'm not working. The Saturdays in am working I come home to mattresses on the living room floor and films on the TV. As it's usually about 11 pm I get home I end up alseep on the sofa.

One day when they have all left home I may get to spend a Saturday night in my own bed!

We have a nice roast dinner and then I will do something crafty with the dc's while dh cleans up. We'll then snuggle up in the sofa with treats to watch a film (the dc's take it in turns to pick)

On a evening we settle down and have eaten and bathed around 18:30ish we then will put netflicks on and try and find a film we all haven't seen but this is very rare!

We all have a drink, me and daddy with our evening brew and our little boy with eithier a hot milk or water.
We will all have our soft socks on and our dressing gowns.

We will then finish watching the movie and have a glass of water and a quick read of our sons favourite book "love you to the moon and back" then it's in today and a snuggle with Peppa and George. Lights out and bed :) xx

Movie night cuddling the two minis on the sofa on Saturdays.
Dd looks forward to it all week and we always plan a really cool treat like making ice cream in the living room.
The night is more about being silly and throwing popcorn at each other than watching the movie Smile

We make sure we have quiz nights with prizes, but also nights when the whole family plays video games and then we have nights where we just watch a movie together. To be honest, it just happens naturally.

Kids are only little, so we do a big family meal around the coffee table (sit on floor) where they can feed themselves. Then a movie night in our bed. Usually they drop off early on so we move them to their cots :)

We'll have a sit down family dinner (all eating at the same time is quite a treat!) and I'll cook something which requires a bit more effort than usual. Then, we all muck in with the clearing up before going through to the living room for ice cream/pudding/a treat and a movie! If we're running out of time and it's late then it will be an episode or two of Modern Family.

Family nights in generally involve a fire and an absorbing programme which appeals to everyone - Strictly, Bake Off or Eurovision, mainly GrinBlush

If we have time, then the preferred menu for such occasions would be up feasibly large amounts of homemade sushi - generally leaving no room for pud, TBH.

We like watching a DVD on the sofa with a big bucket of popcorn.

Tv-wise, the DC love X - factor and BGT. We'd eat before we watch them though. Mine are still little so they'd always be at home with us.

They also love 'movie night', where we watch a film and eat popcorn. We might eat pizza first.
They love 'disco' too, where we play loud music and dance. No food traditions there, yet.

We do cinema nights, close the curtains, put on a DVD, have something fun for dinner like hotdogs eating on knees (we only eat at the table the rest of the time so it's a huge treat to eat in the front room). Sometimes with the big blanket on the sofa for us all to snuggle under!

I have teenagers so getting them to do 'family time' isn't easy, however, Sunday Roast is a weekly event which they love - the food gets them there and I have do do yorkshire puddings and a trifle but its worth it. Following chatting over the meal we migrate to the TV with chocolates - all worth the effort :)

We have a TV or movie night on Saturdays usually.
Dh usually works long hours and the kids have activities or homework during the week so it's nice for us all to just relax together for one evening a week.
We ll all get into pjs and relax with popcorn and chocolate.
