Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables have asked us to find out how you get the whole family together for a cosy night in.

Here’s what they say, "New Cadbury’s Marvellous Smashables are a fun way for all the family to get involved, so we’d love to hear from Mumsnetters about how they encourage the whole family to enjoy a family night in."

So, what do you do to ensure your busy family spends time together? Do you make sure everyone's favourite meal - or dessert - is on the menu? Perhaps there's a TV show that's guaranteed to gather you all in one place? Or do you use more direct tactics like bribery?! Maybe you cut off supply to the wifi or have made the lounge or kitchen an irresistably cosy place to congregate?

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

We have a game called 'Going Underground - Zoo Edition'. This is our family night in game that we love to play. It's funny and we usually end up in hysterics for one reason or another. There's nothing better than a having a good laugh.

Chopstheduck · 12/10/2015 07:52

a good movie will lure them all in - especially if I turn off wifi at the same time! Grin

yatota74 · 12/10/2015 08:02

We have games nights ob sundays the kids can choose a game (usually the logo game or Monopoly) after a roast dinner and saturdays are TV nights with sweets and icecream.

Ikea1234 · 12/10/2015 08:02

We all eat together, have a movie, home made popcorn, chocolate and juice.....a real treat!

edoody · 12/10/2015 08:03

Family movie night is a firm favourite, make the lounge nice and dark, plug in the extra speakers, get the blankets out and not forgetting the mountain of snacks! Popcorn, crisps, chocolate, PERFECT!

our nights in, snuggled up on the setee, with some nibbles watching a good disney movie, fave at the mo cinderella...does get a bit boring but kids love it

NinaKrasteva · 12/10/2015 08:13

We love to cook together a delicious dinner and play games or walk around later.

Family nights in.. well in my house they consist of a lovely hearty meal, a homemade cottage pie does the trick with lashings of thick gravy.. once the pots are in the dishwasher, we slump on the sofa, stick on netflix and watch one of the boxsets on there.. if we get a bit peckish through the evening, i have a cupboard of treats, so a few sweets and chocolates make an appearance x

We love sitting infront of the woodburner with a hot chocolate watching TV. The dog invariably sneaks in and we all have a few hours just slobbing out!

jt75 · 12/10/2015 08:23

We enjoy playing old fashioned card games like Speed and a dice game called Yahtzee.

andywedge · 12/10/2015 08:25

Saturday nights is when we let them stay up a bit later and there's nothing they love more than X Factor; and my son is more ruthless than Simon Cowell

finleypop · 12/10/2015 08:33

Our favourite family time is a Saturday evening. The phones are switched off, candles lit & we all snuggle together on the sofa under a fleece blanket to watch a movie. In December this always becomes Christmas movie nights!

Ataraxy · 12/10/2015 08:33

We have a games night on a Tuesday for myself and my DSs (9&7). We take it in turns to choose the game. But before we play we tidy up, seeing how fast we can do it. It gets the boys energised and saves me the chores later on. Invariably DS1 chooses monopoly which starts out ok but becones a marathon!

pockledigg · 12/10/2015 08:42

The promise of a takeaway & a DVD works wonders at our house.

shawbarbara · 12/10/2015 08:48

We love movie nights - particularly this time of the year. Cold outside but snuggly warm and toasty inside - popcorn lemonade and sweet whilst watching Christmas Movies like Elf -Home Alone etc

cookinmummy · 12/10/2015 08:55

Saturday night is movie night in our house (for the oldest two and hubby and me). We have a rota and each week we each get a turn to pick the film. Popcorn and chocolate, pjs, and lights on low.

Its funny as my girls have made me watch High School Musical 2 far too much and we in turn have bombarded them with 80's classics like The Princess Bride and ET!

Ganne1 · 12/10/2015 09:00

The best is a good film and mugs of hot chocolate

cazzzie987 · 12/10/2015 09:02

Scrabble or Monopoly, lots of snacks (crisps, chocolate) and pillows on the floor.

southernsun · 12/10/2015 09:03

We make some cakes/biscuits during the day and make a nice family meal. Then its pjs and all snuggled up under a blanket to watch a family film and eat the snacks we made earlier.

tubbyj · 12/10/2015 09:04

A non school night to settle down to a family film

glenka · 12/10/2015 09:05

A nice family meal together and then a few hours spent playing board games.

phillie1 · 12/10/2015 09:06

Homemade popcorn and a movie, if the kids can agree on what to watch!

funkyfish586 · 12/10/2015 09:10

Our best family nights in usually start with a game such as monopoly or Pictionary then we take it in turns to pick our favourite dinner. My son always picks pizza, Daughter always picks pasta & we always opt for a curry. We usually pick a rubbish movie & snuggle down

amandamcg123 · 12/10/2015 09:18

Pizza and boardgames or dvds with munchies.

bubbleybooboo · 12/10/2015 09:20

We usually have homemade pizzas whilst all in our pjs and the duvets on the floor and we all watch a family film together then play board games!
