We've been asked by the team at MoneySuperMarket to find out about the weirdest things Mumsnetters have found when moving in to a new home, which the previous owners or tenants left behind.

MoneySuperMarket say "We know moving home can be a stressful experience and sometimes it can be accompanied a few unexpected and 'interesting' surprises at the other end! Whether you've recently moved home or not, we'd love to hear your stories on the thread below.

Also - for those of you in the process of moving right now, don't forget to check out our Home Mover's hub, where you'll find a wealth of articles, videos and tools designed to get you to your own personal 'Happily Ever After' just that little bit quicker..."

So, what weird or wonderful things have you found when moving? Maybe the previous owner of your house left behind a particularly impressive stamp collection? Or perhaps you found a stack of old diaries? Or maybe you found a wig hidden in the back of the wardrobe?

Whatever you've found, MoneySuperMarket would love to hear about it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw* where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher from Mumsnet.

Please note your comments may be included on MoneySuperMarket's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Lots of typewriters in the loft.

There wasn't much but there were some old ornaments in the loft when we moved in - unfortunately not old enough to be valuable.

An old 70/80's photo of a couple in a pub. It was tucked on top of the kitchen cupboard. We're renting and we know it's not the owner. It could be his wife though...and it was hidden away...

One sock left behind!

An old dark room in the attic with some strange photos.

It wasn't so much in the house, but what was left in the garage - quite apart from the original 1950's kitchen cupboards (in their original colour; a tasteful bright orange!), a ladder and a couple of odd chairs, was a bright blue car bonnet! Not quite sure what happened to the rest of the car....

A safe hidden up the chimney

I found a Hello Kitty sticker on the underside of the bathroom sink!

When my parents, brother and I moved out of our house into rural bungalow, we found we couldn't get into the bathroom on arrival. Fortunately, one of the bedrooms had an en-suite. Turned out that, on the day of moving, the previous owners had a malfunction with the door - the lock had slipped and was no longer working! They had instructed a locksmith to come out, but we arrived before he did!

The teenagers left some pornographic graffiti in their respective dens, one under the stairs, and the other in the shed. You'd try and cover them up, at least, wouldn't you?

ButtonMoonLoon · 02/10/2015 20:05

I once stripped some wallpaper to find sheets of newspaper stuck to the wall underneath. It was really odd, I wish I'd taken a photo of the room as it was really quite something!

Gravel all over the loft. I can only assume it was supposed to be insulation or something..

In our first home together metres and metres of fairy lights which still go on our tree 14 years later! In our second home we were kindly gifted a flea infestation and some rotting veg in the vegetable drawer. Lovely.
