Arla have asked us to find out which nutritious smoothie recipes your DC love in the summer.

Here’s what Arla say, “Arla Big Milk is the only fresh cows' milk enriched with essential nutrients to support your child's growth and development, as part of a healthy balanced diet. Containing added iron, vitamin D, vitamin A, and naturally rich in calcium; Arla Big Milk has been developed to specifically support the needs of children aged from one to five.”

So, what nutritious summer smoothie recipes do you have up your sleeve? Maybe you make a breakfast smoothie which gives your DCs a brilliant kickstart to the day? Or a fruity ice cream smoothie you treat 'em with on a warm summer’s afternoon? Even better, a veggie smoothie that they're happy to drink - or that you enjoy making for yourself. We’re looking forward to hearing the different things Mumsnetters whack into a blender to create delicious, nutritious smoothies!

Everyone who shares their smoothie recipe on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks and good luck,

Banana and strawberries

jrandrews72 · 02/07/2015 21:22

Milk, Bananas and Peanut Butter.
I first made this when I lived in Africa. Its a perfect smoothie for a hot day when you have to work, the locals I worked with believed Bananas and Peanuts are foods for your brain.

We really enjoy a good smoothie and love to whack in the exotic such as Canadian blueberries, wild cranberries, a dash of honey, zucchinis, not just to add sweetness and taste, but also to play a game to see if we can tell what's in the smoothie, and spell it!
Not to be forgotten are the humble carrot, peas/beans, lentils and my personal superfoodie favourite - curly kale. We've been having quite a lot of the stuff recently Grin
Tasty smoothies are easy to make so by far the most important ingredient of all....whatever's in date on the reduced fruit & veg counter at the supermarket!

For a really chocolatey but super healthy smoothie, I like to throw the following into my blender.

Dates, Banana, Milk and Cacao powder.

Blitz until smooth, then enjoy immediately. No need for honey as the dates sweeten this smoothie beautifully.

PeaceOfWildThings · 02/07/2015 23:02

Strawberries, fresh mint, cucumber.

Frozen summer fruits, over ripe bananas, natural yogurt.

Delicious and adding ice makes it extra refreshing at this time of year.

Solo · 03/07/2015 11:35

Yesterday evening my 8yo Dd badgered me for a 'milkshake' so I took two banana's, 8 large strawberries and added a few large spoonfuls of full fat Greek style yoghurt and used my stick blender to smooth it all down; I then added semi skimmed milk, milled seeds and some ice. Delicious :)

Solo · 03/07/2015 11:43

12LuDo · 03/07/2015 19:36

Banana and hazelnut! (Easier than it sounds, it's basically an apple juice base, with bananas and hazelnut yoghurt!)

bcd2009 · 03/07/2015 21:12

We all love this one:
A whole pineapple, a bag of baby kale, 4 oranges and a 500g of white seedless grapes. Super refreshing and bursting with goodness :)

mysticwen · 03/07/2015 21:30

as we have a problem with dairy - i use almond or coconut milk then add banana , swedish glace ice cream(non dairy) and top with a fresh mint sprig, other favourite additions to the above milks - strawberry, orange with fennel sprig, or raspberryand vanilla, or cantelupe melon, tomato and orange peel swirl

MegBusset · 03/07/2015 23:04

Milk, bananas (very ripe), and crumbled hob knobs!

GeorgeW78 · 03/07/2015 23:54

I've needed to use lots of Onken natural yogurt recently so have been having it with banana, blueberries or strawberries, oatmeal & tiny bit of local honey.

SirNiallDementia · 04/07/2015 22:18

The DSs favourite is milk, bananas and peanut butter.
