Arla have asked us to find out which nutritious smoothie recipes your DC love in the summer.

Here’s what Arla say, “Arla Big Milk is the only fresh cows' milk enriched with essential nutrients to support your child's growth and development, as part of a healthy balanced diet. Containing added iron, vitamin D, vitamin A, and naturally rich in calcium; Arla Big Milk has been developed to specifically support the needs of children aged from one to five.”

So, what nutritious summer smoothie recipes do you have up your sleeve? Maybe you make a breakfast smoothie which gives your DCs a brilliant kickstart to the day? Or a fruity ice cream smoothie you treat 'em with on a warm summer’s afternoon? Even better, a veggie smoothie that they're happy to drink - or that you enjoy making for yourself. We’re looking forward to hearing the different things Mumsnetters whack into a blender to create delicious, nutritious smoothies!

Everyone who shares their smoothie recipe on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Strawberries, mango, coconut water and mint!

staceystarr · 24/06/2015 20:14

My ultimate favorite healthy and filling morning smoothie recipe is:

1 banana, one handful of frozen strawberries (or any fruit you fancy), 2 tablespoons natural yoghurt, 1 glass of almond/soya/or skimmed milk and one small handful of oats to thicken the smoothie up :)

funkyfish586 · 24/06/2015 20:16

2 carrots, a chopped apple, 2 large handfuls of baby spinach, 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger root, 400 ml of water.

Its amazing!! :)

KittyKat88 · 24/06/2015 20:44

My DDs' favourite is banana and strawberry smoothie made with milk and bio yoghurt, or just almond milk if we want to leave out the dairy. I also pop in some wheatgerm for an extra B vitamin boost, and then swirl through some maple syrup before serving! Smile

Kathderoet · 24/06/2015 20:56

Milk, strawberries, coconut flakes, bananas, and a dash of vanilla.

hermancakedestroyer · 24/06/2015 20:57

Bananas, coconut milk, peanut butter and cinnamon. Delicious!

fazkin · 24/06/2015 21:15

We like the classic milk, bananas and strawberries.

crimsonwitch · 24/06/2015 21:28

A favourite in our household is;
Blackberries
Apple
Beetroot
Yoghurt
Ice
It's really tasty without needing any extra sweetness and has Beetroot in as a healthy bonus.
Another one my children like is;
Avocado
Almond butter
Almond milk
Cocao powder
Agave syrup/honey
A dash of cinnamon
We like to drink this warm before bed as an alternative to hot chocolate. Brew

dragon60 · 24/06/2015 21:29

banana, blueberries, strawberries and milk, though there are endless varieties depending on what fruit we have in.

Gilla01 · 24/06/2015 22:00

Bananas, any soft fruit I have in the fridge, preferably strawberries, Asda Greek Yoghurt with honey. If it's too thick I'll add some juice or milk.

xnikbreenx · 24/06/2015 22:08

Mellon and Kiwi with Greek yogurt

LuckyBluie · 24/06/2015 22:54

Definitely pomegranate, raspberries, coconut water and a handful of ice Smile

buckley1983 · 25/06/2015 08:40

We love;
Bananas, strawberries, mango & coconut milk - totally tropical!

sputnicki63 · 25/06/2015 10:34

Coconut milk, banana blueberry and strawberry is my favourite but to be honest I'll mix up whatever I have on hand. I always keep a bag of frozen berries in the freezer just for adding to smoothies - handy for the winter.

Dimples35 · 25/06/2015 10:36

white chocolate and Strawberry Milkshake smoothies.

Strawberries
Milk
Kiwi fruit or bananas
Vanilla extract

We add a small amount of melted white chocolate in lolly moulds and then add then freeze.

Great way of getting the kids to eat fruit.

Cherrybellyboo · 25/06/2015 12:09

My favourite is banana, tones of strawberrys, Apple juice and ice.

badgermum · 25/06/2015 12:25

My kids favourite recipe is 2 ripe bananas
200g (7oz) frozen raspberries or mixed frozen red fruits
150ml carton plain yoghurt
200ml (7 floz) semi-skimmed milk
honey, to taste
Break up the bananas and place in a liquidiser. Add the frozen fruit, yoghurt and milk and puree until smooth. Add a little honey to taste.
Pour into 2 large glasses and serve.

For a yummy smootie treat we like the Blueberry Cheesecake Smoothie
250g blueberries
3 tablespoons runny honey
50g cream cheese
150ml coconut milk
Handful ice cubes
2 digestive biscuits, crushed

hanette · 25/06/2015 14:38
