Arla have asked us to find out which nutritious smoothie recipes your DC love in the summer.

Here’s what Arla say, “Arla Big Milk is the only fresh cows' milk enriched with essential nutrients to support your child's growth and development, as part of a healthy balanced diet. Containing added iron, vitamin D, vitamin A, and naturally rich in calcium; Arla Big Milk has been developed to specifically support the needs of children aged from one to five.”

So, what nutritious summer smoothie recipes do you have up your sleeve? Maybe you make a breakfast smoothie which gives your DCs a brilliant kickstart to the day? Or a fruity ice cream smoothie you treat 'em with on a warm summer’s afternoon? Even better, a veggie smoothie that they're happy to drink - or that you enjoy making for yourself. We’re looking forward to hearing the different things Mumsnetters whack into a blender to create delicious, nutritious smoothies!

Everyone who shares their smoothie recipe on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks and good luck,

Mango, vanilla and plain yoghurt

summersnowshowers · 28/06/2015 18:25

Bananas, frozen blueberries and rasberries, greek yogurt and a splash of orange juice

layla888 · 28/06/2015 22:34

Strawberry, banana and peanut butter

Blend up together:
two bananas
handful of strawberries
2 tbs peanut butter
handful ice cubes
almond milk about a cup full

honeyharris · 29/06/2015 11:57

Almond milk, Tesco frozen fruit salad and a little cube of frozen spinach (you honestly can't taste the spinach and it takes seconds to put together)

Milk / almond milk, peanut butter, chocolate powder and banana - we call it the Elvis shake

LadyLoz · 29/06/2015 16:22

For us it's got to be raspberries, strawberries, a banana, honey, a handful of oats and a BIG splash of milk! Amazing, refreshing and filling mm mmmm.

Tortoise · 29/06/2015 16:27

Love peach, mango, milk and Greek style yogurt with a drizzle of golden syrup or honey to add extra sweetness!

zippyants · 29/06/2015 17:11

I swear by this smoothie! It's not only refreshing but a real pick-me-up too!

Coffee Smoothie!

for 4 peeps

1 normal cup of strongly brewed coffee, cooled

1 normal cup of milk, cold (be daring and go full fat!)

A splash of vanilla essence (you can miss this out if you hate vanilla)

1 or 3 teaspoons of sugar

2 cups of small ice cubes to give it that refreshingly cold yumminess

You can also add some cocoa powder for a mocha alternative!

Sit back - relax and feel pretty chuffed with yourself.......

Milk, banana and blueberries. Yum

Glitterfairys · 30/06/2015 10:27

Our favourite is peanut butter , banana , milk and honey Smile

Helspopje · 30/06/2015 11:35

Banana strawberry milk blob of honey then whizz. Yum

Quick hint - if you freeze peeled overripe bananas you can lob in frozen which makes for a lovely cold creamy smoothie

Also love mango ones using frozen tropical fruits and, although not strictly a smoothie, milk, icecubes and espresso whizzed up is fab

Milk, crushed ice, bananas and honey. My favourite since childhood.

A favourite Smoothie with us is made up of strawberries, yoghurt, milk, with a few ice cubes added. Can sprinkle a little demerara sugar on top, though not needed.

Any fruit can be used, but strawberries are plentiful and cheap just now. We grow our own and they're ripening faster than we can use them.

abigailflo7 · 01/07/2015 15:01

Strawberry and blueberries make a lovely smoothie

MrRichTea · 01/07/2015 15:50

1 thumb size piece of ginger
1/2 an unwaxed lemon, including its zest and skin
A 4cm wedge of pineapple
1 apple

It's AMAZING for Hayfever!

My kids have a smoothie every morning with their breakfast (I figure it's a great start to the day and at least 2 or 3 of their 5 a day - which makes life a lot easier with my daughter who's a fussy wotsit)!

We tend to throw in whatever's in the fruit bowl, fridge or freezer. A lot of our fresh fruit we're freezing at the moment just to keep it fresh and we like our smoothies cold.

Our favourite milk smoothie is with milk, bananas, raspberries, strawberries and a couple of spoonfuls of natural yoghurt and a squeeze of honey.

This morning's was just fruity ... Fresh lime juice, an apple, a pear, grated ginger, wheatgrass, blackberries, raspberries, pineapple and strawberries. I even threw a couple of broccoli stalks for good measure! The kids drank it all up - which is a great compliment and I was assured they'd had a good fruit/veg fix at the start of the day! Grin

A cup of raspberries, a glass of milk, half a fresh lemon (minus the peel, of course!), 5 ice-cubes (for 'slushie' texture), whizz in the blender until smooth and serve in a sundae glass with a stripey paper straw.

angiehoggett · 02/07/2015 07:38

I love Passionfruit juice, blended with elderflower cordial and some natural yoghurt. Very refreshing!
