Arla have asked us to find out which nutritious smoothie recipes your DC love in the summer.

Here’s what Arla say, “Arla Big Milk is the only fresh cows' milk enriched with essential nutrients to support your child's growth and development, as part of a healthy balanced diet. Containing added iron, vitamin D, vitamin A, and naturally rich in calcium; Arla Big Milk has been developed to specifically support the needs of children aged from one to five.”

So, what nutritious summer smoothie recipes do you have up your sleeve? Maybe you make a breakfast smoothie which gives your DCs a brilliant kickstart to the day? Or a fruity ice cream smoothie you treat 'em with on a warm summer’s afternoon? Even better, a veggie smoothie that they're happy to drink - or that you enjoy making for yourself. We’re looking forward to hearing the different things Mumsnetters whack into a blender to create delicious, nutritious smoothies!

Everyone who shares their smoothie recipe on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks and good luck,

Frozen banana, almond milk, peanut putter, berries, honey, and as much spinach as you can cram in. Keeps me full until lunchtime.

ThatEffingCreakyFloor · 20/06/2015 09:55

Coconut water, blueberries, banana or mango, ground flaxseed. Sometimes a teaspoon of raw cacao powder yum Smile

MakeTeaNotWar · 20/06/2015 11:02

Banana, peach, strawberry

Chocolate and banana

Peanut butter and banana

leneth · 20/06/2015 12:58

banana, pineapple and milk

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/06/2015 15:17

Lassi is my favourite. Mango (used tinned pulp if fresh ones aren't great/available), natural yoghurt, honey, milk, pinch of salt). Serve over lots of ice.

SweetPeaPods · 20/06/2015 17:13

Ds1 loves one with 1 yoghurt, 1 banana and handful of frozen raspberries (picked from garden then frozen for this purpose).
Or milk, banana and scoop of ice cream (more milkshake than smoothie) but goes down very well.

MangoDaiquiri · 20/06/2015 18:34

Milk
Bananas
Frozen raspberries
Peanut butter

Theimpossiblegirl · 20/06/2015 18:48

Usually we just throw in whatever fruit is in need of using up and blend.

The DDs like banana with vanilla ice-cream but that's more of a milkshake I suppose.

Love the idea of adding peanut butter and am thinking of going the whole hog and adding nutella too.

Spinach, banana, blueberries, cashew nuts, vanilla bio yoghurt and water. Healthy and tasty :)

MooseyMoo · 21/06/2015 09:48

Banana, peanut butter, oats (ground up in food processor), honey and milk

21pc · 21/06/2015 11:30

Simple mango and coconut milk smoothie is heavenly ! I also chop up some mango to go on top of it
No need to add extra sweetener as the mango does the job

flamingtoaster · 21/06/2015 12:02

Favourite combinations: DS - banana, strawberry, almond milk. DD (who hates bananas) strawberry, raspberry, almond milk.

We really should be more adventurous!

Maiyakat · 21/06/2015 12:54

Apple juice, dash of elderflower cordial, strawberries, crushed ice. Very refreshing!

purplepandas · 21/06/2015 20:26

Raspberries, strawberries, banana, yoghurt and water.

GoldfishSpy · 22/06/2015 09:00

Banana
vanilla
milk

My secret weapon is frozen basics berries straight from the freezer. Makes it all ice-creamy :)

Figroller · 22/06/2015 17:05

Dd prefers milk based smoothies rather than water. She usually has milk, oats, strawberries, banana, honey and spinach which I sneak in when she's not looking.

She also really likes milk, choc nesquik powder, peanut butter and banana.

lottietiger · 22/06/2015 18:08

Milk banana and blueberries
or Greek yoghurt blitzed with strawberries and granola on top. yum.

sharond101 · 22/06/2015 19:44

vanilla yoghurt, strawberries, tinned peaches with a little juice.

diggerdigsdogs · 23/06/2015 07:48

Vanilla ice cream, double cream, frozen strawberries, a banana, chocolate syrup and a splash of milk.

VivaLeBeaver · 23/06/2015 07:51

My tip for healthy smoothies is putting spinach in them. The smoothie doesn't taste of the spinach but instead tastes of whatever fruit you add but it's a lower sugar option than a fruit only smoothie.

So I would put in spinach, a banana, handful of berries, couple of tablespoons of natural yoghurt, handful of porridge oats, milk. I have that for breakfast most days.

For a more naughty smoothie a banana or two, some nutella, some vanilla ice cream and some milk is nice!

RockinHippy · 23/06/2015 09:39

Frozen Rasberries, Frozen Banana, Apple Juice, Water & a spoonful of Bee Pollen to boost nutrition & give it a lovely light honey flavour is our favourite

RockinHippy · 23/06/2015 09:45

Or a breakfast shake that DD loves when she's off food & is a very tasty powerhouse of good stuff nutritionally, so we all like it

Banana, cocoa powder, cacao, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, chai seeds, almonds, pecans, oats, maple syrup & plenty of milk (we use almond & oat milk, but you could use cows milk)

RockinHippy · 23/06/2015 09:48

My personal favourite, is oranges, carrot, strawberries & ginger blitzed with water & ice

OrdinaryGirl · 23/06/2015 14:37

Half a big pot of yogurt
Half a tub of frozen tropical fruit
1 banana
1 small glass orange juice

Note: do not freeze the banana chunks. They will break your blender. Then when you replace it and forget, they will break that one too.

malaguena · 23/06/2015 23:46

I live on smoothies at the moment! My favourites right now:
milk (or almond milk), 1 banana 1 tablespoon of almond meal, 3-4 medjool dates, a tiny bit of vanilla extra, or even better, a scoop of vanilla ice cream
mango lassi: sweet mango, pain yoghurt, milk
waking up juice: orange/ grapefruit/ clementine (whatever is in store) with carrot, a bit of ginger
