We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

I think Russell Brand would make a good cinema buddy, as he has a very good sense of humour, and he's good to look at during the adverts too!!!

Johnny Depp - handsome and lovely!

Mitonski · 18/04/2015 18:57

The new Poltergeist film looks very creepy so I could do with Jennifer Lawrence to keep me safe in the cinema. Helps that she's lovely SmileBlush

jenniwren12 · 18/04/2015 19:15

Will i am, he would be great

giggleboxnic · 18/04/2015 19:16

I'd say Dawn French, but I could imagine constantly laughing instead of concentrating on the film!

hdh747 · 18/04/2015 19:17

Audrey Hepburn, I could pick up some style tips beforehand, and she seemed like a genuinely lovely person as well as being a beautiful actress.

MimiJoy · 18/04/2015 19:19

Andrew McCarthy of Pretty in Pink and Mannakin fame. I had a "thing" for him years ago and he just gets better with age!

ChocolateCake1 · 18/04/2015 19:19

Michael Weatherly who plays Dinozzo in NCIS because if he's as funny as the character he plays even if the film turned out to be rubbish, he would make me laugh!

jodiecrossley1 · 18/04/2015 19:21

Jamie dornan.. no explanation necessary!

EmNix · 18/04/2015 19:22

Dawn French. We could share a big bucket of popcorn and have a laugh. Assuming the films a comedy!

Marg2k8 · 18/04/2015 19:26

David Essex. I love the sound of his voice

Would have to be Norman Wisdom. I always found him funny and interesting.

julieef · 18/04/2015 19:30

Gerrard Butler but I think I would be watching him more than a movie

bridge16 · 18/04/2015 19:31

Antony Hopkins!! I love all his films and he has been in the film business a long time so would be able to recommend all the ones to see!

janeyf1 · 18/04/2015 19:32

Ben Stiller because he would be so much fun.
