We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

I'd love to watch a comedy with Ant and Dec.

Annimousey · 18/04/2015 19:40

Helena Bonham Carter because she seems like a great laugh and she's quirky too!

FawcettSA · 18/04/2015 19:40

I'd love to snuggle up on the back row with Aidan Turner, I wouldn't care a hoot what was showing on screen lol

Funkyferret · 18/04/2015 19:42

Maybe not the hugest celebrity but I'd love to take Kitty Hope from the TV show Sweets Made Simple because she seems fun and would hopefully come armed with lots to snack on!

pusinky · 18/04/2015 19:44

That's easy, Jonathan Ross because he's a cinema buff and we would have lots to talk about.

frizziekizzie · 18/04/2015 19:48

Jennifer Laurence!

prwilson · 18/04/2015 19:49

Peter Ustinov - he was such a great raconteur.

becks213 · 18/04/2015 19:50

Mr Bean...the episode where he goes to the cinema with his girlfriend is so funny, I would have the best time!

lucyrobinson · 18/04/2015 19:56

I would love to go with Tom Hanks. x

kezabell · 18/04/2015 19:59

Kevin Bacon because he's awesome!!!!

Roraima · 18/04/2015 20:02

Charlie Chaplin. He was such a consummated creator, such refined taste and vision. I'd loved to discuss a film with him.

penka · 18/04/2015 20:12

Oh this is too easy. Duh! Robert Downey Jr!

littleme96 · 18/04/2015 20:15

Judi Dench - I figure she'd have worked with most of the actors and actresses and so could give me the backstage gossip on them all!

Gmat38 · 18/04/2015 20:16

Darth Vader - might stop people sitting in front of me.

alienbuffy · 18/04/2015 20:16

Will Ferrell as he's so hilarious even if the film was bad I know I'd have a great time!

hannonle · 18/04/2015 20:35

Orlando Bloom - IIRC he hates watching himself so I would be able to make out with him instead of watching his movie hehe

pennwood · 18/04/2015 20:40

Claudia Winkleman because she strictly is the ideal companion for a girly night out at the cinema

Janbru · 18/04/2015 20:43

Ronnie Corbett - he could sit in front and I'd be guaranteed a perfect view ~

mrpeterhall · 18/04/2015 20:44

Fritz Lang. I can just imagine how amazed he would be by the changes in movie making since he ruled as the world's best director

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2015 20:45

Alan Rickman - and I wouldn't complain about him whispering or even talking at full volume to me, all the way through.

Sallyannlloydjones · 18/04/2015 20:48

Paul Merton as he would make funny comments!

GaryStocker · 18/04/2015 21:05
