We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

My celebrity buddy would have to be Miranda Hart as she is so funny it would not matter what film you were watching as it would be made all ther more entertaining with her around.

danikagrace · 18/04/2015 18:19

Claudia Winkleman - with all her varied film knowledge!

Gemls3 · 18/04/2015 18:20

Steve Martin. I've always loved him

annarack99 · 18/04/2015 18:25

The Queen!

lindsaysss · 18/04/2015 18:28

Philip Glenister as he is gorgeous & a fantastic actor, I reckon he is passionate about films

MissusDave · 18/04/2015 18:30

I'd want to go with Martin Lewis (from MSE.com) because he'd almost certainly have vouchers so we could bag a bargain! He seems to have a great sense of humour from Twitter too :)

rainbowvalley · 18/04/2015 18:32

Bradley Walsh cos he can be serious sometimes!

Leiajulie · 18/04/2015 18:33

Obv Adam Sandler causeif the film was borning he would sure keep you amused

Oldbiddywilkins · 18/04/2015 18:33

I'd love to go to the cinema with my dad. He passed away in 2009 and we hadn't been to the 'pictures' together since I was in my teens. What a shame we didn't do it more as I grew up.

nigelh66 · 18/04/2015 18:35

Claudia Winkelman,as she knows her stuff :)

Daydreamer123 · 18/04/2015 18:36

Robert Webb - always comes across as a genuine, easy-going, funny guy....and probably wouldn't talk all the way through the film!

feefeegabor · 18/04/2015 18:36

I'd take Miranda and hope the film was rubbish so we could have a popcorn eating competition and sit with our feet up on the seats shouting rude comments about it.

devito92 · 18/04/2015 18:39

Would have to be Jonathan Ross as he knows so much about movies

israrbaig · 18/04/2015 18:41

Barry Norman as he can let me in on the gossip

andywedge · 18/04/2015 18:49

My two kids. I love watching films with them and watching a good family film together makes me feel like a kid again.

mave · 18/04/2015 18:51

Peter Kay, it would be hilarious!

carolineandryanandseb · 18/04/2015 18:51

Stephen Fry :)

lynxdata · 18/04/2015 18:51

Karl Pilkington, just for the commentary

maisiesnan · 18/04/2015 18:52

Oliver Reid would be my choice as I think he was Fabulous

jdunthorne · 18/04/2015 18:53

Steven Spielberg so that he could give me all the inside info on the films

anngwill · 18/04/2015 18:53

Paul O'Grady

Ganne · 18/04/2015 18:54

I think Stephen Fry might be sufficiently erudite about the film being shown

Baddz · 18/04/2015 18:54

Claudia winkleman or sue Perkins.

MagentaOeuflon · 18/04/2015 18:55

Ooh can I have Maggie Aderin-Pocock please. She seems like such a laugh and I always imagine we would get on in a space nerd way

Mitonski · 18/04/2015 18:56

The new Poltergeist film looks very creepy so I could do with Jennifer Lawrence to keep me safe in the cinema. Helps that she's lovely SmileBlush
