We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

I'd choose Madonna as I've been a fan for so long, I'd happily share my popcorn with her

actually, I prefer to go on my own. I go almost every week with my husband, but when he's away I still go. Went to see Woman in Gold last night - very good

oliver reed if he was still alive

VickyRsuperstar · 21/04/2015 11:57

I'd like to have Angelina Jolie as a cinema buddy - she has 6 kids and I have 9 so we would have something in common to talk about. She is also a very interesting woman and I'd like to hear about her experiences, her films and her work for the UN. If she brings her kiddies and I bring mine too, then maybe they would all have fun together?

Ewan McGregor one of my favourite actors, sure he has lots of tales to tell and has a sense of humour, as well as being gorgeous!!

russell brand, because he is ace!

Rosiebelle76 · 22/04/2015 06:18

Don LaFontaine (the famous film trailer voice over actor) so he could do fake voice overs/comments and make everyone laugh.

Tarzan for the scary bits: Johnny weissmuller

chairmeoh · 22/04/2015 11:04

I'd love to visit the cinema with Mr Ben. He would dress well, but keep quiet and let me enjoy the movie in peace!

Pmliu · 22/04/2015 11:30

Jackie chan because he is very entertaining and would be fun and a great laugh

ampersandand · 22/04/2015 13:20

I'd like to borrow someone's cat for the evening and bring him/her. My landlord doesn't allow pets and I miss having a cat!

DinosaursRoar · 22/04/2015 13:35

This is a hard one - not like going on a normal date with a celeb.

I think Ewen McGregor is a good shout - he'd be polite, he would be able to have intellegent conversation about the film afterwards without being too intellectual. He's not overly large so won't spill out of his seat into mine and he looks like he'd take decent snacks (nothing too healthy) and be prepared to share them. And he doesn't look like he'd object to watching something a bit fluffy or full of explosions, rather than something improving. I also think he'd give you a clear and quick answer to "what did I miss?" if you have to nip to the loo half way through...

cootuk · 22/04/2015 14:07

Snogging on the back row with Xenia Seeburg

sweir1 · 22/04/2015 16:49

Stephen Fry. He would tie me up in knots.
