We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

It would have to be James Corden if the films no good he can just make me laugh.

funkyfish586 · 20/04/2015 10:45

Russell Brand.. I am slightly in Love with him & I think it would be hilarious!

lmk999 · 20/04/2015 11:05

Sandra Bullock as I'd bet she'd be a right giggle throughout, and would probably throw popcorn at people in front too :-s

MillyVanilli222 · 20/04/2015 11:26

Jennifer Lawrence - she could give me inside gossip from behind the scenes AND she'd definitely share the popcorn!

mclarkie · 20/04/2015 12:47

Tom Hanks, interesting guy.

Emgrace · 20/04/2015 13:04

charlie hunnam, he is so lovely!

Soosieboo · 20/04/2015 13:27

Silent Bob, one less person to speak when the film is on!

Kentmummy1 · 20/04/2015 13:28

Morgan Freeman, then he can tell me what I missed when I have to go to the loo!

rachelmccraith · 20/04/2015 15:36

Jennifer Lawrence, I'd bet she'd be great fun :)

ukbliss2012 · 20/04/2015 15:58

Lewis Hamilton ..... :)

MumSnotBU · 20/04/2015 16:11

David Tennant.

Greatgoogleymoogleys · 20/04/2015 17:41

Allan Carr- I reckon he would narrate the entire way through. Would be too funny!

Anj123 · 20/04/2015 19:21

Brad Pitt but then I might not be able to concentrate on the film!!!

mjmooseface · 20/04/2015 19:40

Richard Ayoade or David Mitchell. Their running commentary of a film could be better than the film itself, I am sure! lol

Hot date would be Steven Tyler, though. Even if he is a good 44 years older than me!!!

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 20/04/2015 19:56

I'd say Benedict Cumberbatch.

He had enough good manners to know not to chat through the bloody film and if we were sitting in the dark he wouldn't see the unhinged mooning faces that I couldn't help but make at him. sigh

Jenzer · 20/04/2015 19:56

Mark Kermode, then we could argue about film all day long!

mishknight · 20/04/2015 20:46

Jim Carrey

beckyinman · 20/04/2015 22:32

Jamie Oliver would have some excellent snacks to sneak in

KateOxford · 20/04/2015 22:33

Max Beesley, I would just love to go on a date with him! Wink

kerryv · 20/04/2015 22:45

Gino D'Acampo, he'd bring some tasty snacks and he'd make me giggle

stefalfie11 · 20/04/2015 23:35

Kate middleton - i think she'd be a brilliant companion and i'd love to meet her!

Iwasbornin1993 · 21/04/2015 00:02

Ryan Going because if the film was rubbish I could just stare at him instead??Wink

Iwasbornin1993 · 21/04/2015 00:03

Gosling* sorry, phone's predictive text!

Mindgone · 21/04/2015 00:51

Julia Roberts, she would be great fun, has a great laugh, and is the same age as me, so we'd have a lot in common!!!

thekiwibex · 21/04/2015 01:15

David Mitchell (the comedian/actor) for the brains, Channing Tatum for the brawn!
