We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

Bette Davis, just loved her acting

vidd · 19/04/2015 15:49

Jennifer Aniston... Would so love to be 'Friends' with her

vixxx666 · 19/04/2015 16:05

Hmm...It'd have to be somebody quiet as I HATE it when somebody talks through a film, and they'd have to be a good conversationalist so we could chat about the film afterwards, but somebody lighthearted and witty as I probably wouldn't be interested in every tiny detail about continuity errors and how it wasn't factually correct in every aspect. Is that asking too much of somebody? haha.
I'd probably pick Tom & Gi Fletcher (Tom from McFly & his wife) as from their youtube videos and interviews they seem like an awesome couple!

My husband. He is so cuddly and does not mind me moving to get comfortable

shivbrown · 19/04/2015 16:52

The legend that is Simon Cowell! Love him he is just so dreamy!

dragon60 · 19/04/2015 18:01

Prof Brian Cox, great mind and easy on the eye

farhanac · 19/04/2015 18:21

Barry Norman. And why not?

Liquorice13 · 19/04/2015 18:43

Daniel Craig - he would stop all the annoying people talking throughout the movie and hold my hand during the scary bits!

wizzler · 19/04/2015 18:53

I think I would take Marj Simpson.. because living with Bart and Homer she deserves a good night out!

jomulan · 19/04/2015 19:18

I would take Jimmy Carr so, if the movie was boring, he could entertain me with laughter instead :)

AvaAmulet · 19/04/2015 19:23

Present day - Caitlin Moran, if I could go back in time - Katherine Hepburn. Both of these strong, opinionated and fascinating women are hilarious and enlightening, and I think we'd have so much fun Grin Star

nettymay · 19/04/2015 19:33

Jamie Oliver - He could cook me a lovely supper when we got home!

Ritakd · 19/04/2015 19:53

I'd love to go with Jonny Depp because, well......who wouldn't!!!!

donut1 · 19/04/2015 20:28

Emma Willis - just because she's open minded and we wouldn't have to watch a film just because it's got good reviews.

phillie1 · 19/04/2015 20:52

Hugh Jackman

DingleberryFinn · 19/04/2015 20:59

Bill Murray. We could eat popcorn in companionable silence.

April1984 · 19/04/2015 21:10

Tom Hanks, such a great actor so if he's willing to see a particular film I'll know it's a goody

Tutt · 19/04/2015 21:54

I'd have to take Sigmund Freud and Michael McIntyre...
Freud for his mind and being able to have a good ole disect of the movie afterwards and MM because he seems kind and would give me a cuddle if I was scared and make me laugh and the 3 of us could have a good rummage in the movie/actors/plot/other cinema goers over dinner after!

tiddles12 · 19/04/2015 23:14

Rob Brydon- so witty

cistolic · 19/04/2015 23:22

James Stewart His voice fascinates me and he's always the perfect gentleman

GladysTheGolem · 19/04/2015 23:25

Robin Williams. Firstly if the film was terrible, at least he'd be great company.
Also, he'd probably spend so much time talking, he wouldn't notice me snaffling all the pic n mix. Win win.

lhlee62 · 19/04/2015 23:54

Ryan Reynolds as he is yummy and very funny

Hopezibah · 19/04/2015 23:54

I'd definitely go with Miranda Hart - She is just so hilarious i can imagine her doing a bit of a running commentary of the film as we watch it.

Lindsaym1983 · 20/04/2015 09:19

Leonardo dicaprio as I use to fancy him when I was younger & I love his films and we also have the same birthday.

adamcorner · 20/04/2015 09:38

I think Stephen Fry so we could have an intelligent conversation about the film afterwards.
