We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

Silent Jay from Gogglebox, because there's nothing worse than your companion wittering on during a film!

sallyhartley · 19/04/2015 11:25

Ricky Gervais, it would be amazing :)

Anybody quiet who doesn't eat a lot Grin. I hate too much peripheral noise!

Maybe Victoria Beckham.

Karen2105 · 19/04/2015 11:34

David Walliams, he would keep me entertained!

jilliang · 19/04/2015 11:36

Stephen Fry

mamato3luvleys · 19/04/2015 11:41

Idris Elba sexy and strong I love him to bits Grin

deb1966 · 19/04/2015 11:42

Stephen Fry, funny (and clever, so he could explain what's going on when the storyline is complicated)

Dizzyc73 · 19/04/2015 12:09

Keith Lemon - he's hilarious so I'm sure it would be a fun night!

samcornfield · 19/04/2015 12:11

Mine would be Chrissie Wellington (Former ironman Triathlete)

ellielovesem · 19/04/2015 12:14

Definitely David Gandy, a gorgeous face to gaze at in the boring bits of the film !

crayola88 · 19/04/2015 12:17

I'd love to go a see a film with Tom Hardy! Bit of smooching in the back row ;) xx

suzyq50 · 19/04/2015 12:18

I'd say Emma Thompson would be a good buddy. She always seems chatty, funny, bright & articulate. Knows a few things about films.

lizd31 · 19/04/2015 12:37

Keith Lemon would be my ideal celebrity cinema buddy, if the film wasn't that great at least he would make me laugh

salvagebrav · 19/04/2015 12:47

Jonathan Ross, I think he would be so much fun at the cinema

It would have to be Lee Evans - He can add that extra touch of comedy - if the film is failing miserably!

cookie09 · 19/04/2015 13:47

Gerard Butler oh yeah, back seats and all if i had the chance :D

alabaster002 · 19/04/2015 13:50

I'd love to see a film accompanied by Alastair Sim. Such a fine actor, a true gentleman with an an impish sense of humour!

cocochips · 19/04/2015 13:50

Fearne Cotton...she would be great company

aless02 · 19/04/2015 14:00

tamalyn1 · 19/04/2015 14:12

johnathon ross, hes so funny and could tell me silly stories about all the actors in the movie

purplediva · 19/04/2015 14:12

I would go with Claudia Winkleman - she would make a great friend to have a laugh and chat with and we could have a mini film review afterwards and debate the merits of the film afterwards

emella · 19/04/2015 14:39

Tom Hiddleston! He's a gentleman and is very smart and easy going, so we could have intelligent conversations too whilst we were there and it would feel very natural. I'd also get to see him in a suit, and well I can't complain with that even a little ;)

maureen3733 · 19/04/2015 15:11

stephen fry because he is funny and knowledgeable

GREATAUNT1 · 19/04/2015 15:11
