We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

dilydaly · 18/04/2015 23:43

For me it would have to be Tom Hanks, he's my absolute favourite actor and seems like such a nice guy in interviews etc ! Plus I think he's gorgeous :D

jamborii123 · 18/04/2015 23:45

I'd say Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad is my top show and I thought his performance was brilliant throughout. I should imagine he'd be a good laugh too !

PeppermintCrayon · 18/04/2015 23:49

Rebel Wilson. She'd make hilarious comments.

BlueNile57 · 19/04/2015 01:00

BongoManCan · 19/04/2015 02:03

Ricky Gervais

jayz268 · 19/04/2015 05:53

Dawn French. She'd be great fun to spend time with!

black8704 · 19/04/2015 07:59

It would be George Lucas. It would be amazing to get an insight into his ideas and how he perceives other directors work.

lucky1302 · 19/04/2015 08:02

Ren1974 · 19/04/2015 08:45

Been racking my brain but I cannot think of any celebrity I would take instead of my cinema buddy, my son Jorge.

I love listen to him giggle at funny parts, get excited in action scenes and literally be on the edge of his seat during nerve-wracking moments!

No celebrity can compete with that!!

createbeauty · 19/04/2015 08:53

David Bowie because I've always wanted to watch a movie with him.

easter1965 · 19/04/2015 08:54

Mine would have to be Ryan Gosling sheer 'Perfection' but don't think I would catch much of the film though

jessiecat33 · 19/04/2015 09:14

Katie Piper for me an inspirational woman x

Maursie · 19/04/2015 09:43

Ryan Gosling - and make him buy all the popcorn

emmal01 · 19/04/2015 09:52

Judi Dench - she would be great fun to go out with!

BizziLiz · 19/04/2015 09:52

Clive James - I always enjoyed reading his tv reviews (and still remember that he pointed out that the anagram of 'Poldark' is 'Oldkrap') and am sure that his views on films would be equally entertaining.

barbsbarbs · 19/04/2015 10:07

my cinema buddy would be Victoria beckham, because I want to see her laugh and laugh with her

Kitsune1972 · 19/04/2015 10:12

Maya Angelou. A warm, witty person with a great sense of humour (I imagine).

sofieellis · 19/04/2015 10:35

Alan Turing - I'd take him to see The Imitation Game, so that he could see that he is now considered a hero, who was treated unforgivably badly.

tompob · 19/04/2015 10:38

jimmy tarbuck... so funny and his accent cracks me up...saw him on stage once OMG side splitting

bubbleybooboo · 19/04/2015 10:40

I would take James Corden. Hes so funny so could have a right laugh with him. Hes cuddley so could have a cuddle whilst watching the film and hes gorgeous too!! My ideal fella!

happysouls · 19/04/2015 11:17

Victoria Beckham, because she has such a tiny figure that she wouldn't want to share my popcorn!
