We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

David Yates, he directed Harry potter. He is my uncle and I haven't seem him since 2007 as he's busy working and my kids haven't met their cool great uncle yet

Another one for Claudia Einkelman, I think she wouldn't talk during the film but would be good to tear into it afterwards. Mark Kermode would probably kill any enjoyment through over analysis.

HangingInAGruffaloStance · 18/04/2015 21:12

Winkleman obviously.

almac1965 · 18/04/2015 21:13

Jennifer Lawrence, funny and talented

Laura1Berkshire · 18/04/2015 21:21

My husband - we haven't been to the cinema together since the birth of our beautiful daughter, 7 months ago.

juju3 · 18/04/2015 21:26

Humphrey Bogart - a real man

ImmortalBeloved72 · 18/04/2015 21:30

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and I'd make sure the movie was really scary. Would love to grab him at the scary parts lol

BellaWella86 · 18/04/2015 21:33

Julie Andrews... such a film legend.

cnut · 18/04/2015 21:36

Joanna Lumley, she would be great company and would be a memorable evening!!

LEE88 · 18/04/2015 21:39

I would choose Olly Murs, love him!

pfcpompeysarah · 18/04/2015 21:40

Alan Carr, I reckon he would be such a laugh with a running commentary on whats going on.

dorsetsgem · 18/04/2015 21:40

jake gyllenhaal. We'd watch a scary film and I'd pretend to be scared so he'd give me a hug haha. If he can come dressed as prince of persia that would be a onus :D

gd2011 · 18/04/2015 21:43

Mark Kermode - so we could discuss the movie afterwards, not during as that would be against the Wittertainment Code of Conduct.

gamerwidow · 18/04/2015 21:50

Jonathan Ross then we could watch super hero films together.

tigerbalm12345 · 18/04/2015 21:54

George Clooney... Enough said!

cooljammer37 · 18/04/2015 21:55

David Walliams, I think he would be great fun!

freefan · 18/04/2015 22:10

Sarah Millican- any film would be a comedy with her as my film buddy :)

arat · 18/04/2015 22:12

Martin Lewis because he would be sure to get me the best bargain tickets!

tintoys · 18/04/2015 22:16

Jonathan Ross, I was ahuge fan of his cinema reviews when he did them , hugely underated

Jacobsmummy32 · 18/04/2015 22:24

I would have to say Kevin Hart, he is one funny man even the thought of it makes me laugh !

LuckyBluie · 18/04/2015 22:38

Definitely Russell Brand Smile

seeingdouble2 · 18/04/2015 22:39

Brad Pitt would be ideal

buckley1983 · 18/04/2015 22:39

David Walliams - charismatic & hugely entertaining! Seems a proper gent & if the film didn't provide the laughs, he certainly would :)

cheekychicken24 · 18/04/2015 22:44

Jimmy Carr - I tend to laugh inappropriately in the cinema, so hopefully he'd do it too, but as he has such a distinctive laugh, he'd get all the glares and tuts instead of me!!

Gilla01 · 18/04/2015 22:49

I'd have to be a killjoy and say that celebs are far too full of themselves for any of them to appeal to me.
