With the Easter long weekend fast approaching, we have been asked by the team at Lidl to find out your top tips and traditions for the bank holiday weekend.

Please share on this thread what makes a perfect Easter weekend for you and your family.

Do you celebrate with a big family get-together and meal? Or take it as a chance to catch on some long overdue jobs round the house and garden? Do you get all crafty in the run up with bonnets and cards? Or are you a baking goddess rustling up your own hot cross buns? And what do you do with any left over chocolate? Do you have family traditions which you have developed over the years - please share them here!

Add your comment and you'll be entered into a prize draw where five MNers will each win a £50 voucher for Lidl.

Please note that any comments posted on this thread may be used by Lidl in further marketing material (anonymously, of course)

Thanks and good luck

We have a big Easter egg hunt for adults and children which my dad sets out, very fun!
I make a Easter themed cake and we spend time together :)

hannonle · 17/03/2015 12:03

I don't celebrate easter but it's a good excuse to do some craft activities with the children. Aside from that, it's just a normal weekend of family time for us.

MakeTeaNotWar · 17/03/2015 12:08

Looking forward to Avignon some time together. We will probably do odd jobs around the house, start getting the garden ready for summer. We will definitely have a great big Easter lunch and do an Easter egg hunt with the kids

WowOoo · 17/03/2015 12:11

I'm looking forward to the days off mostly!

It's a good excuse to have a lovely roast. I'll probably do something I don't often do like lamb.

There will be a big Easter egg hunt. One of my organised friends has already written out the 'to do' list for this. It's always fun for the children.

We are off to Cornwall to spend Easter with my mum, we are going to a Egg hunt on the Sunday as my son made sure I rang the Easter bunny to let him know he would be at Grandma's this year :)

rayd · 17/03/2015 12:22

phillie1 · 17/03/2015 12:37

Easter egg hunt, with the clues getting harder and more cryptic the older they get.

eloisemummy · 17/03/2015 12:38

As it usually rains at Easter my Husband does an indoor easter egg hunt for us round the house.

ElectroNymph · 17/03/2015 12:52

A good quality meal and conversation.

sallyc06 · 17/03/2015 12:53

Legs up, watching the telly with an easter egg, sheer bliss!!

mumsbe · 17/03/2015 13:11

The run up to easter we make easter bonnets and cards. We go to church and easter fayers.
Easter sunday the easter bunny has been and the children run around finding their eggs.
We then have a walk along the beach
Followed by a sunday lunch and some of the easter cakes we made.
With any chocolate left over we melt down and put on crispy cakes or make biscuites.
We also do a easter egg hunt in the community.
We love easter!

castleton · 17/03/2015 13:19

Have a roast dinner for me and husband on Easter Sunday. Take grandchildren's eggs round day before.

BellaWella86 · 17/03/2015 13:23

Last year, I was just out of hospital after having my youngest child. We had a very lazy excuse of an Easter, so this year we plan on doing an Easter Egg Hunt, cooking a nice roast dinner, going for a big walk and finishing the day off with a movie and eating lots and lots of chocolate!

sarah861421 · 17/03/2015 13:31

when your children are 17 & 19, I am just grateful that they are both home. A big meal, good old fashioned gossip and catch up, and a nap

LuckyBluie · 17/03/2015 13:31

We have a big Easter egg hunt in the garden.

We make an Easter bonnet and Easter cards and I also make an Easter themed cake. Any leftover chocolate is melted down and turned into Star Wars chocolates with our chocolate moulds Smile

Best of all though is getting to spend time together Smile

BuzzardBird · 17/03/2015 13:33

We treat Easter like Christmas but with Easter gifts and lots of rabbits and ducks decorations. We have an Easter Egg hunt, decorate the dining room and sit down to a lovely dinner along with Easter crackers and lots of fun.
Christmas was wiped out last year with illness so looking forward to making up for it at Easter.

feefeegabor · 17/03/2015 13:34

We always do easter hunts where we hide eggs inside and outside. They have turned up months after! I also decorate the coffee table with little chicks and eggs for my daughter and put up a sign saying "The Easter Bunny was here".

JoJoBaldwin · 17/03/2015 13:54

We often visit family and an Easter Egg Hunt is compulsory!

asuwere · 17/03/2015 14:00

we take the DC to an egg hunt at church - they love it!

"And what do you do with any left over chocolate?" - LOL, what exactly is leftover chocolate?! ConfusedGrin

danniian · 17/03/2015 14:07

Easter egg hunt and a big family dinner

libra101 · 17/03/2015 14:07

We love long walks in the countryside, walking along the banks of local canals, rivers, and through the woods.

If the weather is fine off we set with the dog, and we all enjoy getting out in the fresh air.

No traffic jams, very cheap and enjoyable.
