With the Easter long weekend fast approaching, we have been asked by the team at Lidl to find out your top tips and traditions for the bank holiday weekend.

Please share on this thread what makes a perfect Easter weekend for you and your family.

Do you celebrate with a big family get-together and meal? Or take it as a chance to catch on some long overdue jobs round the house and garden? Do you get all crafty in the run up with bonnets and cards? Or are you a baking goddess rustling up your own hot cross buns? And what do you do with any left over chocolate? Do you have family traditions which you have developed over the years - please share them here!

Add your comment and you'll be entered into a prize draw where five MNers will each win a £50 voucher for Lidl.

Please note that any comments posted on this thread may be used by Lidl in further marketing material (anonymously, of course)

Thanks and good luck

we usually have a family meal and then the rest of the time is taken up with catching up on chores and if possible a bit of a rest in between.

mumpetuk · 28/03/2015 21:07

we always have an easter egg hunt with the children.

superkittycat · 28/03/2015 21:34

We always get together as a family & have a sit down meal together & then an egg hunt afterwards! As for what to do with leftover chocolate - with us there's no such thing!

Gill81uk · 28/03/2015 21:54

Spending quality time with my family, out doors if possible as Easter is often nice weather.

cluckyhen · 28/03/2015 22:51

We usually hold our own Easter Egg hunt in the garden followed by a lovely roast diner - this year though we will have just got home from visiting our family in Yorks

SweetPeaPods · 28/03/2015 23:10

No set plans or traditions here.
DH works shifts so he is more often working.

JamNan · 29/03/2015 08:09

Make a little Easter gift like a felt egg for GCs. Make some hot cross buns on Friday and scoff them. GCs decorate eggs. DH goes and does sport on Sat and I make a Russian Easter cake. On Easter Sunday morning the grandchildren decorate it with little sweet eggs, chocolate bunnies and flowers. Then we all go to church and have an Easter Egg hunt followed by roast lamb and cake and lots of chocolate. Monday if it's sunny DH and I will do something in the garden or might go for a walk on the beach and stop by our fave cafe.

SaltySeaBird · 29/03/2015 08:11

We will hide some small chocolate eggs in DDs room for her to find when she wakes up. Depending on the weather we would like to go for a nice walk too before heading to my Mums for a big family roast.

nerysw · 29/03/2015 08:41

The closest thing we have to an Easter tradition is buying half price Easter eggs the day after!

grannybiker · 29/03/2015 12:05

Ours always loved the Easter Egg hunt and used to save their eggs to hide again for each other for days afterwards!
We were still finding strays weeks later!

ikkle87 · 29/03/2015 13:02

we don't really have any plans we are just going to make the most of having a long weekend together as a family, few days out and maybe a carvery

NelAllan · 29/03/2015 13:24

We love to have everyone home for a big roast lamb dinner before eating our Easter eggs, usually whilst watching a fab movie or over a board game or two. If the weather is nice we might begin to smarten up the garden ready for the good weather.

laurapotz · 29/03/2015 14:27

Getting together with family, and a nice sunny walk (hopefully).

Kangakate · 29/03/2015 14:30

We start with an easter egg hunt to work up an appetite then it's a roast dinner with some easter eggs for dessert. Then we make some Easter crafts like egg covers and go geo-caching and put the easter crafts in there place

balloon66 · 29/03/2015 14:42

we paint eggs and go egg rolling, followed by a home cooked roast in the evening and tv :)

cookinmummy · 29/03/2015 15:37

We always hard boil eggs and have fun decorating them. Then we all go to the local hill and have a little race. Roast lamb in the afternoon then the little ones get the green light to tuck into chocolate eggs. x

alison991 · 29/03/2015 16:21

Gilla01 · 29/03/2015 21:06

A family meal, with as many members as can make it. Hopefully the weather will allow a walk after lunch.
