To celebrate their mini pots of rice pudding and custard, which hit the shelves earlier this year and are specially developed for children*, we have been asked by the team at Ambrosia to find out from you what tastes make you happy! We all know some flavours and food are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face - or to your childs', or may even remind you of a special meal or occasion.

Ambrosia say: "we think that Ambrosia my mini pots taste like happy! They are a great way to mix up a mundane lunchbox, and as they are easy to pop in a handbag, are always there for when hunger strikes. And a happy child, means a happy mum/dad. What does happy taste like to you?"

The Ambrosia mini pots range is specially developed for children* and contains calcium and vitamin D, which are needed for normal growth and development of bone in children. They contain no preservatives or artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners, but are full of dairy goodness. They have a long life and don't need to be chilled, so they are perfect for stocking up on reserve and for use out and about too. For all ingredients please see here

Each pack of 6 has a recommended retail price of £1.49.

Please share your happy tastes and flavours on this thread - or those of your DC - no later than 28th November 2014 - and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 Amazon voucher and a selection of Ambrosia Goodies**.

Please note, your comments may be included on Ambrosia's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck

Maple syrup

I could easily drink it straight from the bottle and do whenever I have some and it can be added to so many things to make them better.

Laquitar · 17/11/2014 18:33

Cinnamon.
The smell of it takes me back to Grandma's house.
Lemons for the same reason.

Keepcalmanddrinkwine · 17/11/2014 18:59

Me: my kids make me happy.

My kids: sweets.

HilaryMantelshelf · 17/11/2014 19:09

Love custard - hot or cold. I prefer the ready-made Ambrosia to mixing my own with powder or even the fancy fresh ones in the supermarket.

A roast dinner smell wafting round the house is hard to beat, or a slow cooked casserole when you come home.

I love sun-dried tomatoes and of course chocolate.

AllSorted · 17/11/2014 19:28

Chocolate, ginger, cinnamon

DurhamDurham · 17/11/2014 19:51

I love the smell of strawberries and clotted cream, it makes me happy and is evocative of sunny dayside not outdoors.

I also love the smell of coffee, it smells homely and warm.

My two girls love a fruity smell, they both love citrus smells as it smells fresh and makes their mouths water Grin

Hopelass · 17/11/2014 19:53

Rhubarb crumble with a hint of ground ginger in it and custard. YUM!

mipmop · 17/11/2014 19:56

Me- rhubarb crumble and custard. It reminds me of picking rhubarb in my childhood garden, probably on a Sunday, for my mum to make rhubarb crumble.

By coincidence I gave some of the mini pots of custard to a friend today, ssuggesting that her son may like them (as mine does.) My friend however was more interested in them for herself!

Cherryjellybean · 17/11/2014 20:29

Chocolate is number one here! I love strawberry and butterscotch... Not together though ;)
And I have just discovered salted caramel... Yum!!!

Babycarmen · 17/11/2014 20:55

chocolate orange, banana milkshake, tuna and avocado, oh so many...

Syncope · 17/11/2014 21:48

Custard, lovely hot custard. Even better if it's on apple crumble.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 17/11/2014 21:57

Mango makes me happy. So does vanilla.

DD1 would definitely say chocolate.

Baconknickers · 17/11/2014 22:53

Custard apples - besr fruit ever!

arlittlebuttons · 18/11/2014 00:04

crispy warm bread and butter

artex · 18/11/2014 03:03

When DC not very interested in food, we will win eating with satsumas, grapes & cheese. Always in the fridge here!

Madamecastafiore · 18/11/2014 05:25

Dark Muscavado sugar sprinkled on full fat Greek yogurt.

I don't have it in the house, the sugar that is, as I don't think I could trust myself not to eat it at every available opportunity.

artex · 18/11/2014 06:37

Coconut is a lovely flavour/ smell that reminds me of holidays. Don't like the texture, so it just has to be the taste

Trudyla · 18/11/2014 09:27

As soon as autumn hits, I can't stop my custard craving. DH finds it peculiar but it really makes me happy.

In summer I love all flavours from South-East Asia but in the cold months, warm custard hits the spot!

KitCat26 · 18/11/2014 09:59

Caramel pudding, custard and rice pudding with nutmeg. Individually. Mmmmm.

Russky · 18/11/2014 11:50

There is simply no better flavour than traditional custard! And so full of good stuff :)

laurapotz · 18/11/2014 11:58

It depends what mood I'm in. Hot puddings like rice pudding with jam or bread and butter pudding do it when I'm in the mood for something sweet, or a full roast dinner with all the trimmings if I'm in a savoury mood.

Ohfourfoxache · 18/11/2014 12:01

Apple, cinnamon and custard - just cannot beat it!

BellaVida · 18/11/2014 12:19

It's funny, but for me tastes are always linked to memories and that is what makes it a "happy" taste.

  • getting the last corner piece of chocolate sponge and custard at primary school lunch.
  • biting into a freshly pulled strawberry, straight out of my grandparents garden.
  • a fresh baguette my DS brought me from the hospital cafe after my first Child was born.

The best thing is introducing your own children to tastes they have never tried before and things you maybe didn't try until adult life. It's also comforting in some way, when your children experience the traditional things you had as a child- my eldest recently came home and told me he had treacle tart and custard for lunch. Classic memories!

duckbilled · 18/11/2014 13:02

cinnamon and chocolate AND red wine Grin

NoisyOyster · 18/11/2014 13:47

Cream, milk and vanilla (Oooh the flavours of custard!) are always my comfort to go to flavours

Throw in a sprinkling of nutmeg and cinammon and I'm a happy bunny Smile
