Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out what makes Mumsnetters and their DCs feel better when they’re feeling under the weather during the winter months.

Here’s what Nurofen says, “Both adults and children may experience a sniffle or two this winter, but the whole family wants to feel their best to make the most of the festive season. From Halloween to Christmas, there are plenty of family occasions to enjoy during the colder months and being holed up in the house is no fun for anybody. If you or your children are struck down with cold or flu, Nurofen offers a range of products to help manage both adult and child symptoms including fever, sore throats, headaches and minor body aches.”

So, what do you do to help yourself and your DCs feel better when you are (both) down with a winter bug? Do you tuck yourself under multiple covers on the couch and put on a marathon of your favourite TV show? Perhaps you have a special recipe which you reserve for when you’re feeling under the weather which you find keeps you going? Or maybe a hot bath does the trick for you and your DC? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.

Everyone who leaves their comments below will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

A warm bed and the tv

franky58 · 23/11/2014 23:21

A cup of steaming hot soup, a hot water bottle and a blanket on the sofa

angiesnowyholland · 23/11/2014 23:28

I really don't have time to be ill! Dose up on Beecham's cold plus and get on with it. If I was lucky enough to have day off work and kid free, then a duvet day and a hot lemsip sounds nice x

lindsey3uk · 23/11/2014 23:45

Honey and cider vinegar, my mum always gave it to me :)

diammondgirlz2013 · 23/11/2014 23:58

acuddle off my children & fiance and a nice warm bath

lilrahi · 24/11/2014 00:37

Nice hot bath followed by clean pyjamas into fresh sheets warmed by a hot water bottle, and a hot chocolate with marshmallows. But first lots of painkillers!

shelljess82 · 24/11/2014 02:07

A really good belly laugh even though it may not be pleasant to watch me laughing when I have a winter bug but it really helps.

embabes7 · 24/11/2014 06:38

A hot water bottle, the sofa, a blanket, a hot cuppa and a good sleep!

sydroo · 24/11/2014 07:57

Homemade lemon soother, a big duvet and being left alone as much as possible!

liane1987 · 24/11/2014 08:21

myboycraig · 24/11/2014 09:10

Sleep is the best cure

8mhigh · 24/11/2014 10:10

Hibernate with hot drinks, catch up on sleep, but get the odd bout of fresh air on a walk to the postbox, cos it stops your brain from slowing to a crawl.

carpathian · 24/11/2014 10:26

lots of sleep and following that lots of cuddles off my kiddies access to the remote control helps to :)

katieskatie1982 · 24/11/2014 11:53

tucked up in bed nice and warm with a good movie to watch and a nice bowl of chicken soup! xx

TiedUpWithString · 24/11/2014 12:01

Curled up on the sofa in really comfy clothes with a warm cuddly dog. Lots of hot tea and also soup. For ease, Heinz tinned tomato with Nairn's oatcakes. For luxury (ie, someone has made it for me) cream of onion soup with homemade granary bread. Lots of opportunity to nap undisturbed!

lucy1005 · 24/11/2014 12:06

I love bringing the pillows and duvet downstairs, snuggling up on the sofa and watching trashy daytime TV!

Belmo · 24/11/2014 12:16

Hot toddies (no whiskey for the DC, obvs!), snuffle babe, cosy jammies & slippers, all snuggled up under a blanket watching movies.
I miss lemsip, which always sorted me out, but have been breastfeeding for ages.

Depends on the bug. Colds and flu, I like a hot lemon drink while snuggled up on the sofa watching a good film. Last winter I contracted the Noro virus and nothing can help with that. It was a nightmare.

caz123456 · 24/11/2014 13:06

I feel sorry for myself a lot and try to get people to bring me hot tea and refil my hot water bottle! When my kids are ill, I always make them homemade chicken soup as they say it makes them feel better.

ddpunk182 · 24/11/2014 13:11

Currently having norvirus i can assure you that NOTHING makes you feel better from this hell! I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy! Ughhh

mummyto2boys01 · 24/11/2014 13:25

A hot cup of coffee, chocolate and laying in my duvet with my hot water bottle.
