Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out what makes Mumsnetters and their DCs feel better when they’re feeling under the weather during the winter months.

Here’s what Nurofen says, “Both adults and children may experience a sniffle or two this winter, but the whole family wants to feel their best to make the most of the festive season. From Halloween to Christmas, there are plenty of family occasions to enjoy during the colder months and being holed up in the house is no fun for anybody. If you or your children are struck down with cold or flu, Nurofen offers a range of products to help manage both adult and child symptoms including fever, sore throats, headaches and minor body aches.”

So, what do you do to help yourself and your DCs feel better when you are (both) down with a winter bug? Do you tuck yourself under multiple covers on the couch and put on a marathon of your favourite TV show? Perhaps you have a special recipe which you reserve for when you’re feeling under the weather which you find keeps you going? Or maybe a hot bath does the trick for you and your DC? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.

Everyone who leaves their comments below will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

I make a bed up on the sofa and we watch Cbeebies all day. Brew

Annbunce · 16/11/2014 08:48

My bed - just want peace and quiet and to rest as much as possible x

margaritasbythesea · 16/11/2014 08:50

Yup. Sofa bed and tv. If I am ill the dcs stroke my head and perch on me to watch tv. If it is them, I mumsnet!

pixelwife · 16/11/2014 08:51

A duvet day with some dubious TV would be my cure-all, and by dubious I mean one of the Real Housewives programmes! Embarrassing but true.

spiroo · 16/11/2014 13:31

Hot Ribena, tomato/chicken soups and try to include onion/garlic in other meals

Ritakd · 16/11/2014 13:49

Tomato soup, warm apple or orange juice, duvets & lots of snuggles work for us.

rachelmi · 16/11/2014 15:17

A hot chocolate, an old film on Sky or DVD and painting my nails.

500Decibels · 16/11/2014 15:23

Chicken soup and lots of TV whilst getting snuggled up on the couch under the duvet.

FriedFishFacial · 16/11/2014 16:45

Treating myself to some good TV, a bit of chocolate if I fancy it and having someone around to chat to so I don't get too miserable.

mylifemylove · 16/11/2014 16:50

Snuggles on the sofa in PJs, with a hot Ribena. I also love eating Satsumas. I love them anyway but they taste even better if you're feeling under the weather xx

robbo86otm · 16/11/2014 16:56

Being tucked up in bed and not being bothered by the family

MRSBSENIOR · 16/11/2014 17:10

I love a hot toddy of Whiskey, ginger wine and hot water - the fumes are enough to cure you! It's even better when drunk in bed with a good book to read.

mynellie · 16/11/2014 17:59

eat plenty of mushy food ie cereal and home made soups tuck up on the settee with warm drinks and paracetamol and watch some good movies or just snuggle down and sleep

Princessxo · 16/11/2014 18:19

For me, it's snuggled up in bed with loads of blankets and watching movies on the laptop. For my 7 year old, it's just resting.

A hot hot bath with a few drops of tea tree oil. Then bed, a rubbishy pAperback and glorious sleep!

Spencer1234 · 16/11/2014 18:38

Hot chocolate & cuddles from my son &/or puppy

babsmam · 16/11/2014 18:59

Not having to think for anyone else just me, being on my own mostly as lovely as the kids are they come to me first by default. Also not having to play catch up when I am better. Knowing I don't have to make me feel better about being ill iykwim

Sellins · 16/11/2014 19:53

Chicken soup

ThatBloodyWoman · 16/11/2014 20:16

Solitude.

PinkAndBlueBedtimeScares · 16/11/2014 20:17

Cbeebies all day, snuggled up on the sofa, bath, fresh bed sheets and fresh pjs!

Carriemac · 16/11/2014 20:30

Neurofen, fluids, bed and Jane Austen novels

Loula117 · 16/11/2014 20:59

My mum's recipe onion soup or failing that Heinz tomato with loads of cheese. Plus sleeeeeeeeeeeep.

MrsIgglePiggle · 16/11/2014 21:04

Duvet, DVD, crisps and cake.

emma1092 · 16/11/2014 21:26

Definitely relaxing snuggled under a duvet - watching my favourite movies / tv shows - have to have some nice soft tissues and some hot orange or blackcurrant :)

cheryl100 · 16/11/2014 21:29

My Mum always used to buy me cherry lip sweets and lucozade when I was poorly, I dont know why?! But these do make me feel better when I am ill, perhaps its the memories!
