Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out what makes Mumsnetters and their DCs feel better when they’re feeling under the weather during the winter months.

Here’s what Nurofen says, “Both adults and children may experience a sniffle or two this winter, but the whole family wants to feel their best to make the most of the festive season. From Halloween to Christmas, there are plenty of family occasions to enjoy during the colder months and being holed up in the house is no fun for anybody. If you or your children are struck down with cold or flu, Nurofen offers a range of products to help manage both adult and child symptoms including fever, sore throats, headaches and minor body aches.”

So, what do you do to help yourself and your DCs feel better when you are (both) down with a winter bug? Do you tuck yourself under multiple covers on the couch and put on a marathon of your favourite TV show? Perhaps you have a special recipe which you reserve for when you’re feeling under the weather which you find keeps you going? Or maybe a hot bath does the trick for you and your DC? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.

Everyone who leaves their comments below will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

honey and lemon and a hot water bottle

Scungybear · 15/11/2014 10:36

A nice bath with menthol in it, cups of tea and a feel good film like Mamma Mia or Sunshine on Leith (and cold tablets)

retroquirk · 15/11/2014 10:55

Watching "Friends" with a nice hot chocolate, Friends always cheers me up - I know every word but I still laugh after all these years.

SparklyReindeerShit · 15/11/2014 12:46

Can't take much medication wise as am breastfeeding but taking to the sofa with a big blanket, good film, hot drink and bar of chocolate helps me feel better even if it's not actually solving anything!

spayne89 · 15/11/2014 12:48

plenty of rest by snuggling up in bed all day - only plus of being ill as I never get to do this!

thewomaninwhite · 15/11/2014 13:17

Chance to rest on the sofa in front of the tv, unlikely! Smile Hot drinks too with the heating on.

Lynnm196345678 · 15/11/2014 14:02

eat loads of fruit and drink loads of hot water

tubbss · 15/11/2014 16:07

Having a day under the duvet, watching films and a bowl of nice hot soup

Funkyferret · 15/11/2014 17:51

A hot shower, lots of soup and distractions like a film or book then as much sleep as possible.

joanf · 15/11/2014 19:08

Warm bath, snuggle on sofa and lots of hot drinks

farhanac · 15/11/2014 20:12

A cuddle

lilyloo · 15/11/2014 20:34

Pjs , hot water bottle and duvet. Lots of rubbish TV and not having anywhere to go.

Lozzapops · 15/11/2014 20:41

For me - wrap up warm, mug of hot blackcurrant squash, and lots of ibuprofen and paracetamol!

For little one - cuddles on the sofa, wrap up cosy/stay in pyjamas, and calpol/baby nurofen (not just saying that, honest!).

kerrysabel · 15/11/2014 20:42

Being in a warm bed where I can get lots of rest and a bit of peace :)

miljones1 · 15/11/2014 20:52

Warm blankets to snuggle under on the sofa, hot herbal tea with loads of honey, and a good film!

ColdCottage · 15/11/2014 21:01

Hot blackcurrent, balm tissues, a blanket on the sofa and some good tv to fall asleep in front of once the meds kick in.

TooMuchCantBreathe · 15/11/2014 21:13

For me and the dc favourite is homemade honey and lemon, dressing gowns warmed on the radiator after a warm bath (towels also get radiator treatment!) If the illness involves sore throats then cups of tea have to be on tap!

MrsPnut · 15/11/2014 21:17

I always have honey, lemon and whiskey and I tend to want to eat Heinz tomato soup with cheese and chilli jam sandwiches.
I also alternate between paracetamol and ibuprofen to keep my temperature down.

lucyrobinson · 15/11/2014 21:42

Snuggling on the sofa watch trashy Tv or a movie. Hot buttered toast with marmite. Also helpful if the kids are out playing with their Nan. x

bluebump · 15/11/2014 21:49

My DS loves his "snuggly" (his dressing gown), his badger wheat bag microwaved and a hot apple juice.

I love being in pyjamas, a soft dressing gown, a hot lemon and honey, hot ribena or failing that wine!

As a single parent being ill can be a struggle sometimes but the last time I was ill with a cold I was laying on the sofa and my DS brought me a blanket and tucked me in. That certainly made me feel better Smile

Michelle1985 · 15/11/2014 22:54

Chicken soup, hot water and honey, big duvet and a great film....oh and lots and lots of sleep!

mrsbeeton999 · 15/11/2014 23:01

We treat ourselves to snuggles on the sofa and hot lemon and honey, and cuddles with the cat!

VIKKI20 · 15/11/2014 23:38

A hot water bottle and a hot toddy

NoNoNoooooo · 16/11/2014 01:38

A big steamy bowl of my mums corned beef hashSmile

Jims · 16/11/2014 07:42

Pjs and bed. I took the laptop last time for some tv catchup but slept through the whole of strictly come dancing.
