Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out what makes Mumsnetters and their DCs feel better when they’re feeling under the weather during the winter months.

Here’s what Nurofen says, “Both adults and children may experience a sniffle or two this winter, but the whole family wants to feel their best to make the most of the festive season. From Halloween to Christmas, there are plenty of family occasions to enjoy during the colder months and being holed up in the house is no fun for anybody. If you or your children are struck down with cold or flu, Nurofen offers a range of products to help manage both adult and child symptoms including fever, sore throats, headaches and minor body aches.”

So, what do you do to help yourself and your DCs feel better when you are (both) down with a winter bug? Do you tuck yourself under multiple covers on the couch and put on a marathon of your favourite TV show? Perhaps you have a special recipe which you reserve for when you’re feeling under the weather which you find keeps you going? Or maybe a hot bath does the trick for you and your DC? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.

Everyone who leaves their comments below will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Always a hot drink, usually honey and lemon, Olbas Oil at night to clear breathing and I have a total love affair with Night Nurse and Day Nurse.

jacknutter · 14/11/2014 18:49

tucked up in bed

donut1 · 14/11/2014 19:23

A hot water bottle and lots of sleep

MysticStorm · 14/11/2014 19:31

Tucked up under the duvet in the living room with a cup of tea, and the telly on.

Kathderoet · 14/11/2014 19:46

A lukewarm bath, then onto the couch with a hot water bottle and the room kept airy. Usually a book, I can't watch TV when I feel ill it hurts my eyes!

For the kids a bubble bath, cotton Pj's and a bed made up on the couch, hot lemonade is always popular too.

Being wrapped up in a nice warm quilt on the settee :)

andy07 · 14/11/2014 20:36

always a nice hot bath and getting in to a clean fresh bed. But what really makes me smile is my children usually put on some sort of show to make me feel better. That always lifts my spirit.

vixxx666 · 14/11/2014 20:36

Lots of blankets, cuddles on the sofa and films on the telly. Plenty of squash and fruit.

kerryv · 14/11/2014 21:17

Seeing my kids are ok, and keep hoping they don't get sick too.

gk6277 · 14/11/2014 21:32

Warm wheat filled microwaveable wheat bag and hot toddy before an early night !

Snuggling up with a hot water bottle and a herbal tea

cagsd · 14/11/2014 22:31

Hot water bottle, cosy blanket, cup of hot chocolate and lots of tissues!

princesssmitheee · 14/11/2014 22:39

a nice cup of tea

skyeskyeskye · 14/11/2014 23:05

Plenty of squash, cuddling up under a blanket watching tv, usually works for us

beckyinman · 14/11/2014 23:08

A duvet day with a box set

Marg2k8 · 14/11/2014 23:27

Snuggling under the duvet, getting plenty of rest, having comfort food, such as chicken soup and taking painkillers and throat sweets

Mummygadgetgeek · 14/11/2014 23:36

Hot ribena, a nice warm bath and then a snuggle up in a duvet covered in freshly washed sheets.

In fact I like all that in general, on chilly winter days :)

fliss888 · 15/11/2014 00:38

Hot bath hot chocolate. Hot water bottle and bed. Nothing better

mumtowoo1 · 15/11/2014 06:45

A large bowl of hot chicken soup and a lovely hot bubble bath.

ncsmummy · 15/11/2014 07:54

We have got a fleecy blanket that we snuggle up under. Lots of cuddles and sleeps is the way to go

Ememem84 · 15/11/2014 08:19

Comfy clothes, big snugly hoody, blanket, pillow from bed on the couch. Gallons of water and hot squash. Buckets of tea - only drink from the gigantic free mug from sports direct when I'm ill.

Nice comforting food - chicken ramen, sausage n mash, proper comfort food.

And monster munch.

I normally also re-read books. Something I know isn't too taxing.

moonray · 15/11/2014 09:08

my bed, a nice, cool dark room and plenty of rest

BizziLiz · 15/11/2014 09:25

A hot water bottle and a hot honey and lemon drink - if it's bedtime I add a tot of whisky.
