Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out what makes Mumsnetters and their DCs feel better when they’re feeling under the weather during the winter months.

Here’s what Nurofen says, “Both adults and children may experience a sniffle or two this winter, but the whole family wants to feel their best to make the most of the festive season. From Halloween to Christmas, there are plenty of family occasions to enjoy during the colder months and being holed up in the house is no fun for anybody. If you or your children are struck down with cold or flu, Nurofen offers a range of products to help manage both adult and child symptoms including fever, sore throats, headaches and minor body aches.”

So, what do you do to help yourself and your DCs feel better when you are (both) down with a winter bug? Do you tuck yourself under multiple covers on the couch and put on a marathon of your favourite TV show? Perhaps you have a special recipe which you reserve for when you’re feeling under the weather which you find keeps you going? Or maybe a hot bath does the trick for you and your DC? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.

Everyone who leaves their comments below will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

We all take our medicine then snuggle up together on our massive corner sofa, piled with blankets and cushions and watch family films while stuffing our faces. After all, feed a cold, starve a fever :)

RhinosAreFatUnicorns · 13/11/2014 21:16

If I'm ill I love to stay in bed with the electric blanket on and watch rubbish daytime tv.

If DD is ill, we light the fire, snuggle under a throw on the sofa and watch back to back Tinkerbell films or peppa pig.

Warm Ribena is a must for me if I've a cold.

freefan · 13/11/2014 21:27

Hot water bottle, duvet, some classic films and a bowlof someone's homemade soup

pfcpompeysarah · 13/11/2014 21:33

It has to be comfy pj's, a hot water bottle, blanket, and some good magazines to flick through or a soppy film to watch.... plus all the meds I can get my hands on to get rid of the nasty bug!

beeelaine · 13/11/2014 21:37

Ahhh if someone is poorly they get to sit on the recliner chair with lots of blankets! The man likes lots of hot drinks to warm him up (particularly if he has been at work because he is outside a lot), and our son likes those fleece type blankets and DVDs to watch - he usually falls asleep when he isnt well so misses most of the film! I like a big box of the softest tissues and a hot water bottle when Im feeling under the weather! If Im feeling cold I also like to soak my feet for ages!

smamfer · 13/11/2014 21:44

I have some beechams cold and flu capsules, plenty of water and orange juice and total rest, i just let it get out of my system in a semi natural way rather than forcing it, only for it to come back a couple of weeks later as i didnt rest

KittyKat88 · 13/11/2014 21:47

Wrapped up in a cosy blanket with a homemade lemon & honey drink, and watching a favourite movie on the telly. Oh, and a big box of tissue by my side usually!

JoJoBaldwin · 13/11/2014 21:47

A hot bath always helps a lot. Followed by chocolate biscuits and tea while someone kind occupies the children!

stealthsquiggle · 13/11/2014 21:50

Duvets, hot ribena, and Disney films in front of a roaring fire.

Lu44cyHAN · 13/11/2014 22:01

Home-made soup and home-made lemsip

cookiefiend · 13/11/2014 22:09

For DD- breastfeeding and snuggles. For me- a blanket and comfort tv- the shows you know so well you only need to half pay attention. Friends, frasier, the west wing. So nice...

ScrambledEggAndToast · 13/11/2014 22:10

We always have snuggles on the sofa with the duvet with a nice hot chocolate and whipped cream. We get a DVD on and just veg out all day. If I am feeling too ill to cook then I get a takeaway. Lots of tissues to hand for the sniffles and a hot water bottle in the bed for when I do crawl into bed. Nice clean pj's and fluffy socks always help too.

ozbird1 · 13/11/2014 22:13

I'm just recovering from a bug, a spoon full of runny honey made my throat feel better rather than the cold and flu remedies as I couldn't keep anything down. A nice hot bath, fluffy pj's and then early to bed (which is very unlike me)

fiestychick · 13/11/2014 22:15

Lovely fresh sheets on a big fluffy duvet. Me, the couch and full control of the TV Remote = bliss!

jcyclops · 13/11/2014 22:16

A lie-in in the morning and a cup of tea in bed!

juju3 · 13/11/2014 22:20

Hot blackcurrent

sarsar123 · 13/11/2014 22:21

Lots of hot drinks, hot water bottle and snuggling on the sofa. Watching daytime TV.

leannemoore · 13/11/2014 22:24

Heating on slippers and pjs on and then a hot chocolate

applecatchers36 · 13/11/2014 22:26

Pyjamas, duvet, cheesy film, hot drinks, soup & meds

twinklenic · 13/11/2014 22:29

My Mum !!! my youngest and myself are both full of a cold this week and living near my mum has been a godsend! especially when we've not had much sleep. Shes been happy to help. I also swear by duvet days on the couch when youre under the weather

buckley1983 · 13/11/2014 22:31

Lovely hot bath, then nestled on the sofa underneath a duvet with a hot water bottle watching a classic comedy box set. Nice cuppa tea & a box of chocolates also helps too! :)

gamerchick · 13/11/2014 22:38

Used to be medised. That stuff was the only thing that helped through flu 'weeps'

Now it's cold and flu.. A swig of covonia and loads of vicks Grin

miluth · 13/11/2014 22:43

For my children, it's being made a bed on the sofa and cartoons on the TV with me on hand for cuddles, tissues, drinks.
For me it's being able to crawl back into bed and sleep!

tanyamumof3 · 13/11/2014 22:55

a jug from my children, the heating on and my comfort food-jacket potato and cheese

feeona123 · 13/11/2014 23:02

A good film and a snuggle on the sofa
