We have all heard "old wives" tales about how to get pregnant and now the team at Clearblue would love to hear which ones you have heard of - and which you believe in and which are a load of tosh!

Inspired by threads like this, they'd also love you to share the myths/ pre conceived (gettit)! notions you had before you TTCed about DTD and trying to get pregnant - what was an absolute revelation to you once you entered the land of TTCing?

I don't really believe in old wives tales! I think it will happen when it happens although I guess having lots of sex at the right time of the month will help as well as being alot of fun!

I think reducing stress definitely helps. I gave up work and got pregnant only a few months later.

my favorite is the legs in the air after sex. I know it is an old wives tale but it never stopped me trying it x

I understand there is something behind this one. That sperm needs to be slightly lower temp than the rest of a bloke's body, about half a degree. Which is why testicles are on the outside of the body.

Hence the recommendation to wear boxers instead of tight, hot, underwear, to improve the quality of a man's sperm.

As for the idea listed here about standing up being a sure-fire way to get pregnant, I was always told the opposite, that it was a guaranteed way to avoid getting pregnant .

I only ever had unprotected sex when ttc.

If you are carrying high with a big, round belly, you are having a girl. If you are carrying low with a smaller belly that sticks straight out, it’s a boy. Worked for me

Drinking Grapefruit juice helps you conceive :S I can't stand Grapefruit anyways and to be quite honest i wouldn't think it would work at all.

Different positions, elevated hips are the ones i've heard most often.

To be honest i don't believe in all the old wives tales. You'll get pregnant when you get pregnant. For some it can take a little longer for others it can happen instantaneously.

Eat red meat if you want a boy which is a myth

Someone bought me a fertitlity ornament from Mexico, I thought it was a load of old tosh, but then I got pregnant really quickly with my daughter (2nd child), and I chased a work colleague around the room with it and she got pregnant. These days I am scared to dust it :) With regards to all the myths surrounding getting pregnant, I did the raised legs thing with my first (my son), and a friend told me I had lie still for an hour after, which was awful, and I doubt very much that it worked.

Sit the "preggy" office chair at work, where apparently everyone who sits there gets pregnant! Hahahahaha!

An old wive's tale I heard from my nan was you can become pregnant more easily when the moon is full and if it happens on a solstice you are virtually guaranteed!
