spend lots of time in the bath where it is steamy and use vaseline to stop nose getting dry and sore

maryandbuzz1 · 28/09/2014 18:09

Put Olbas oil into your baby's bath to help with breathing

Annbunce · 28/09/2014 18:13

Putting vaporub on the soles of their feet works wonders for colds and snotty noses.

Ganne · 28/09/2014 18:34

Depending on their age, Vick's Vaporub worked for my family

funkyfish586 · 28/09/2014 18:34

Lots of hot baths with the shower on! Steam is the best for unblocking little noses

feefeegabor · 28/09/2014 18:43

I swear by Karvol - it always helped me as a child and it always helped me daughter when she was a baby.

pixies13 · 28/09/2014 18:54

play in the bath and inhale steam, also put a bit cream on their nose to stop it getting sore

janeyf1 · 28/09/2014 18:56

A bit of Vicks under the nose is something that helped when I was a baby - so it is history repeating itself now!

Wrap up well & still go walking in the fresh air. Do not lie the youngster flat, raise them. A bowl of hot water with menthol or equivalent helps put moisture into the room. Lots of cuddles with the usual medicine etc.

piggypoo · 28/09/2014 19:16

We used to use a bowl of warm water with a few drops of Olbas Oil in it and it always worked wonders, also making sure the diet is not too dairy rich can also help. I was sensitive to dairy products as a child and being aware of this can also help.

angiemary · 28/09/2014 19:22

I always use Calpol plug ins , they always help

glennamy · 28/09/2014 19:23

Vaporub works wonders and a wet face cloth for undlocking noses...

miljones1 · 28/09/2014 19:26

Best thing to do is get them in the shower with lots of steam to help clear their airways...

hiddenmichelle · 28/09/2014 19:30

Saline drops are better than you'd think - always helped my little one!

compy99 · 28/09/2014 19:31

lots of warm baths, and even time in the bathroom when it is steamy helps. also using a very soft muslin rather than a coarse tissue.

freefan · 28/09/2014 19:39

A couple of drops of Olbas oil on a hanky out of reach seemed to work well as well as sitting in steamy bathroom having lots of stories and cuddles

ElectroNymph · 28/09/2014 19:42

Hiya, Calpol also do a saline spray suitable from birth. Works wonders. Sprays a fine mist up the nose to moisten and loosen the snot! Also have a bogey sucker.
You can also take baby into the bathroom with you when you have a hot shower and the steam will help the loosen the stuffiness.

ThemisA · 28/09/2014 20:06

I put Lipsol on their little noses as a gentle barrier and buy the softest tissues I can find. I also use a vaporiser at night with olbas oil. I offer plenty of fluids and hold them a lot. I also give them warm baths in a steamy bathroom with Johnson's Vapor bath.

BellaWella86 · 28/09/2014 20:19

Vicks/Calpol vapour plug-ins are fantastic and always helped our daughter through the night when she was poorly. They also double up as a nightlight for when they are a little older and scared of the dark.

nicsal05 · 28/09/2014 20:21

I like to give my daughter a warm bath then I rub snuffle babe on her chest and back and also to the soles of her feet, then I use the calpol saline spray for clearing her nose.

JoJoBaldwin · 28/09/2014 20:30

Baby olbas was brilliant, along with putting a pillow underneath the mattress to keep head a little bit raised - seemed to help the sinuses drain.

nolene15 · 28/09/2014 20:31

Plenty of vaseline to keep skin from cracking and lots of menthol tissues on hand

JoJoY · 28/09/2014 20:33

Salty nasal drops and nice warm baths

cheekymonkey999 · 28/09/2014 20:34

Snufflebabe on their feet! Works a treat and a snot sucker - gross but strangly pleasureable job to do ;-)

AutumnElla · 28/09/2014 20:40

Give them Calpol and saline nasal drops/spray thats suitable for infants. X
