I rarely use hairdryer or straighteners on my hair and it keeps it in great condition

I remember Liz Earle when she was on QVC once saying that when you put handcream on put it on the back of your hands first and rub the backs of your hands together first before moving to the rest of your hands, it's because the skin is thinner here and needs more moisure. I've been doing it this way ever since!

I'm now going to read the rest of the thread for tips!

Rub a little bit of olive oil into your cuticles and nails once a day to keep them looking healthy and to keep your nails from drying out and splitting.

Don't forget your neck! I've always taken good care of my facial skin - cleansing, moisturising, ALWAYS using SPF but neglected my poor old neck and now it's starting to show it...

I use savlon on any spots which works quickly! I always use clear mail varnish on top of coloured nail varnish to prevent it from chipping. I put hair spray on my hair before running straighteners through to keep it straight. I drink water and sparkling water rather than sugary drinks.

Never go out without some sort of SPF on your face. Your foundation should have it, mine has factor 15. If you are not wearing foundation, pit on some suncream plus some on sensitive areas such as your chest if exposed. Sun is very damaging and can cause wrinkles if over exposed leading to a leathery, lined look in old age. On the same vein, never use sun beds, only spray tans. Not only can over exposure cause skin cancer, it can make you look wrinkly when older.

Also, always take off make up at night as it can clog your pores. I regularly steam my face to open the pores. I pour boiling water into a bowl and place a towel over my head before placing my head close to the water. I stay there for about 5 minutes. Excellent for the skin.

If you have stubborn blackheads smooth a little vaseline over them overnight. They slip out after the gentlest squeeze the next morning.

Another stubborn blackhead tip that works well around the nostrils. Use a scrub gently, dry skin, then examine with a magnifying mirror. The blackheads that haven't gone are sometimes slightly protruding and can be pulled out with tweezers like a splinter. Don't grip too tight else you'll just break the top off.

They probably won't use these.

Get enough sleep, drink plenty of water and eat well. Wear gloves if your hands are always in water and if they get dry and sore, Aveeno cream is magical.

Coconut oil, for everything. I have a huge tub in my bathroom and I use it for oil pulling, cleanser, lip balm, body moisturiser, hair serum, baby balm, nappy rash cream, everything.

I've been taking Omega 3 capsules every day this year and I'm sure it's made a substantial difference to my skin condition.

As many have said, Vaseline on nails makes an amazing difference too.

Whatever I do, it always feels like I'm doing something positive for myself, and that's a great boost.

Skin condition ? Sorry to pry, chutney pig, but does it help with eczema?

Don't be afraid to have a complete change once in a while. I'm not really a beauty counter kind of person (quite frankly they scare me) but every year my husband buys me a selection of products from a different counter for Christmas. Every year I am surprised by how great something is that I would never have discovered otherwise.

Always use SPF.

Every night before you sleep put Vaseline over your eyebrows and eyelashes. It will help keep them in great condition.

Drink lots of water and avoid sugary things.

Even on your ‘no make up’ days’, always use a least a tinted mosturiser with built in SPF – I’ve found that even just the lightest coverage not only makes me feel better but it definitely seems to help keep the wrinkles away!

Always put moisturiser on your face and body when your skin is still slightly wet from the shower – this traps the water moisture into your skin and enhances the effect of your favourite products.

Keep one of those old-fashioned pumice stones in the bathroom. Use it every day on your heels when you shower and it keeps your feet soft, smooth and permanently ‘sandal-ready’… takes only a minute and you’ll save a fortune on expensive gadgets, creams and pedicures!

If you love to have brightly painted toenails, first use a basecoat, then 2 coats of your favourite coloured nail polish (letting them dry completely in between coats) and then finish off with a coat of clear nail polish. I find even with swimming regularly, this combination of colour and clear coats of polish lasts at least 2 or 3 weeks and, if you also trim and file your toenails regularly, your feet will look as good as if you’d just left the salon.

If you’ve got very fine hair that usually needs washing every day, give it a rest occasionally by using dry shampoo; this makes it slightly textured (a lovely change!) and when you wash it as usual the next day, your hair will have a lovely, less stressed appearance.

I’m fast approaching the big Five-O and all of the above are helping me to keep the inevitable middle-age ‘OMG! mirror moments' a bit less scary!

I got this tip years ago and its great. Use conditioner instead of shaving foam etc on yout legs. It's function is to moisturise and soften hair so it's great for this purpose, also means less stuff cluttering the bathroom and saves space taking more bits on holiday.

Really important to wear sunscreen. I think this, and taking care to moisture your skin every morning and evening and what will make a real difference as the years pass!

Make time for pampering by doubling up on tasks - put a face mask on while you're brushing your teeth, epilate your legs while you're waiting for your toenails to dry etc

Eat your quota of oily fish, take probiotics, and get plenty of sleep! Make sure you have your eyebrows shaped professionally and a good haircut also makes a huge difference.

Don't think you will like my tips...I never use cleanser except to take (very rare) makeup off, or toner, or really moisturiser unless my skin feels really dry.

Drink lots of water, get as much sleep as you can (narf), cut back on sugar, find a sport or activity you love. I think being fit and healthy is the basis for feeling beautiful.

Drink lots of water regularly throughout the day.....drinking 3 pints at once will be ineffective. Constantly sipping water is much more beneficial.

Get as much sleep as you can, never less than 7 hours. 8 would be even better.

Always take your makeup off before you go to bed, no matter how tired you are. Sleeping with dirty greasy skin will not lead to a clear complexion.

Use sunscreen on your face and your body, this will help to protect against the damage you can see as well as the damage you can't.

Eat a balanced diet with nutrient rich food, include lots of fruit and vegetables.

Exfoliate weekly and moisturise daily....morning and night.

Find time to relax and unwind, be kind to yourself.

Indulge the odd treat....works for me anyway GrinGrin

Top beauty tips ... a la non beauty expert and mostly said before

Wash with cold or as lukewarm water as possible (as recommended by dermatologists I believe)

As said before, read Bad Science (I am reading now coincidentally)

Then, based on this knowledge, use scrubs and moisturisers which do what is needed rather than a matter of status or 'bad science'

Go organic, natural, reduced chemicals (no SLS, parabens, etc) Faith in Nature brand as an example.

Alum deodrants (Salt of the earth brand as an example)

Look at your diet. Water, natural items instead of laden with chemicals (fruit and veg,

Exercise - both for the muscles/heart/fat levels but also for the skin - sweat!

Finding peace in the now. Just a moment in the busy day to relax.

Finding peace with yourself, who you are, what you can achieve today and what might just be out of reach today. Save the frown! Be happy being you (as wet as that might sound!!)

I used to have a separate day, night and body moisturiser but since having DC, I have changed to just using 1 good body lotion and use it for everything - works just as good :)
I brush my lips in the morning with my toothbrush and that keeps them soft and I hardly ever use lipbalm.
Use SPF and drink plenty water.
