Use witch hazel and cotton wool instead of expensive toners, it is really soothing and refreshing and cheap!
Make sure your hands (and nails) are properly clean before applying make up. It is amazing how many people say they wash their hands but don't!

Sunglasses, sunglasses, sunglasses. Never be without them (except when it's raining or you may look a little silly!). I'm knocking on the door of 40 and have no crows feet and this I put down to always wearing sunscreen and sunglasses.

(I like to think it gives me an air of mystery too but more likely people think I'm a bit of a drama queen!! Grin)

Make time for yourself to relax and destress after a busy day with the children. Relax in a nice foamy sanctuary bath then use some nice body lotion after so your skin feels refreshed and smooth.

jan2014 · 13/05/2014 19:53

triple cleanse your skin - once to get make up off, once to get sunscreen and primers etc off, and once to really clean the skin.

get into the habit of using exfoliating gloves and applying a rich moisturiser, followed by a bit of fake tan on chest and arms, at least twice a week. this routine makes me feel at my best.

itsnothingoriginal · 13/05/2014 19:53

Good make up brushes really do make a difference I've found. For years I applied my eyeshadow with a cheap brush and wondered why it never looked smokey and smooth. Invested in a really good set of brushes and hey presto!

I also advocate using hand cream before bed. Makes such a difference when it can work overnight to restore moisture.

starlight36 · 13/05/2014 20:01

Use a weekly face mask when in the bath. I've been doing it for so long that I'm not sure if it works better but it definitely feels more relaxing and ensures you are able to keep it on your skin for a decent amount of time.

Nottheshrinkingcapgrandpa · 13/05/2014 20:05

Use the last of the moisturiser for you face on your hands at night.

supadupapupascupa · 13/05/2014 20:10

smile! and beauty balm! and a nice scent, and sun cream.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 13/05/2014 20:43

Eat well, stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, don't smoke.

Kundry · 13/05/2014 20:52

Relax, always wear SPF and only moisturise if you think you need to.

AndHarry · 13/05/2014 21:19

My top tip was picked up from Mumsnet. Use body lotion as soon as you step out of the shower and dry off naturally while you brush your teeth. Following that tip has saved an awful lot of body lotion and my skin is amazingly soft!

CheeryName · 13/05/2014 21:26

When you are all hot and stressed at work put your wrists under the cold tap for a few minutes, it will make your face less flushed :)

mrscumberbatch · 13/05/2014 21:26

I'm skint... But I do have wonderful skin.

When Dp sees his friends (about once a month) I liberally douse myself from head to toe in Vaseline.

It looks and feels ridiculous. Big I have great, and clear, skin.

I now swear by it and get miffed if DP won't naff off on a night out!

boptanana · 13/05/2014 21:31

Sleep, water, healthy diet and avoidance of stress. These best any expensive products hands down.

ekt55 · 13/05/2014 22:18

If you're going to be washing/cleaning your hands lots (inevitable with nappy changes, bottle washing etc.) invest in a good, non-scented moisturiser.

Witchhazel sticks are great for clearing up spots

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 13/05/2014 22:49

For my spotty sisters: use witch hazel as a toner to calm angry, red spots and clear them up faster.

It really works!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 13/05/2014 22:52

I clearly didn't read the last post before I posted mine! Grin

Ok, another:

Put Vick's on eyebrows and let it set 5 minutes before plucking. It softens the hairs and opens the pores and makes it a lot less painful.

harryhausen · 13/05/2014 23:01

This tip is for people who are in it for the longhaul.

When I was a student at around 22ish, I caught Joanna Lumley on This Morning saying that her best beauty tip to banish crows feet was to dab Vaseline around the edges of her eyes every night.

I started doing this then and have done every night since. I'm now 42. I have plenty of other things that need much improvement but I don't have a single crows foot wrinkle as yet.

Conincidence? You decide. It's cheap enough to give it a go anyway.

Hopezibah · 13/05/2014 23:03

Great blog at Sanctuary spa and great tips. My own tip would be to make a simple body scrub using sugar and a little honey to exfoliate your legs ready for the summer. Then rinse off with water.

Bubbles85 · 14/05/2014 07:12

Drink water, cleanse face, drink more water, go to bed early.

solastyear · 14/05/2014 10:17

Plenty of sleep, stay hydrated, moisturise. Try and have a pamper session once a week ( more like once a month unfortunately). I was considering having a facial at a beauty salon but didn't feel I could justify the £35+ price tag. I had a look at facial kits to use at home and saw the Sanctuary Facials in a box from Boots for about £17. Might initially sound pricey but there is enough serum, polish etc. for about 3 facials you just need to buy a couple more masks. Skin looks great afterwards - really glowing.

Fillybuster · 14/05/2014 11:04

Moisturise as often as you can (aim for morning and evening, no matter what), and always remove all makeup properly.

Get a decent facial exfoliator (the cheap, apricot kernel ones are ace or make your own) and give your face a quick scrub once a week or so if you can be bothered.

If you can find the time, run yourself a lovely hot bath, pour a glass of wine, slap on a face mask and ignore the world for 15 minutes once a month or so. Bliss - but not always easy to achieve...

RedKites · 14/05/2014 11:06

My tip is to keep nail files and hand cream in multiple locations around the house, so you can quickly sort out a broken nail or apply cream if your hands are feeling dry.

ClaireStronge · 14/05/2014 11:20

I always use sugar as a cheap and very effective body scrub, mix with a little shower wash if you want or use it neat. It's really brilliant and I'll never buy a £30 tub of salt scrub again.
