Love for netflix in our family stems from weekend family time with our 5 year old and 7 year old where we get swayed by the wonders of action figures, barbies and laugh our hearts out with childrens comedies. Sunday afternoon is netflix time -popcorn, hot chocolate, cookies all included !

On weekdays my DH and I both work very hard and after a long day at work and children put to bed, it's our time - time to cuddle up on the sofa with a glass of wine and drama -Downton Abbey/ Mad men / breaking bad... The best time in the day when we truely relax, wind down, forget the stresses of the day and what tomorrow might bring.

We love netflix !!

LarvalFormOfOddSock · 21/03/2014 13:22

Perfect moment is....
Ill with a cold. DH takes DS out for the day. I lie on the sofa with my favourite blanket and a honey and lemon all day watching horror films on Netflix. Doesn't happen often though!

ataraxia · 22/03/2014 14:40

I don't have Netflix yet but my impression from the video is that it is convenient and fits easily into daily life

VirtuallyThere · 22/03/2014 21:30

I think I'm missing out, I've never tried Netflix. It looks good. I could see myself watching it in bed on an evening after DS is in bed.

stephgr · 22/03/2014 23:43

I've never used Netflix but having watched the videos it sounds like I'm missing out!

MmeButterfly · 23/03/2014 12:40

All we watch is netflix. The kids have their favourite movies and shows although i do like them to watch cbeebies which is way more educational. But me and hubby love the US dramas - house of cards, bb, oitnb etc. More like this. Oh by the way, we started watching Lillyhammer and found it to be horribly racist. Just wanted to share that in the hope it reaches the ears of commissioners.

FannyPriceless · 24/03/2014 19:49

I am convalescing at present, so my ideal is resting in bed with a laptop, choosing bad chick flick films to watch at my leisure. Thank you netflix!

thesoupdragon44 · 24/03/2014 21:41

I haven't used Netflix, but it looks like the kind of service a busy mum like me could use. It would certainly be good to watch wahat I wanted when I have time. I hate missing all the good programmes on tv and most of my spare time is the hour before I go to sleep. being able to watch on the family laptop would be great as I could take it with me whichever room I was in.

asuwere · 25/03/2014 20:00

We recently had a trial of Netflix and to be honest, wasn't overly impressed. I think it is mainly aimed at those wanted to watch series, especially US ones - I was more interested in films but they weren't that up to date.

It is convenient - especially on the Xbox as it's then on the TV rather than a computer screen.

AmazingDisgrace · 26/03/2014 16:30

The teenagers love Netflix and watch all manner of whatever rubbish it is they watch... For DH and I it's post 10pm, shower, PJs, glass of wine and Orange is the New Black. Cannot wait for the new series.

lgwilk · 26/03/2014 16:39

Netflix is my carrot/stick to get me to exercise. Watching house of cards whilst on the cross trainer. Great incentive.

libertyflip · 26/03/2014 21:14

I knew very little about netflix but was quite impressed by the advert....especially loved the dog!

sealight123 · 27/03/2014 09:14

Netflix is so diverse!!!
We love putting on a family film on an evening, all getting our PJ's on and snuggling under blankets :)
My daughter loves watching shows like Team Umizoomi when she is playing and colouring
We love popping on a film or a series when my daughter is asleep and snuggling up to each other in bed :)

I felt pretty lost after we completed Breaking Bad though :(

lynniep · 27/03/2014 09:21

My kids only watch netflix these days. They just reject everything on virgin. I wonder why I'm even paying for the childrens channels! Sadly we never seem to have time to watch any films, but I sneaked in a bit of Buffy last night!

themitch21 · 27/03/2014 14:14

We have netflix and either run it through the playstation downstairs or the smart TV upstairs. When my husband is working away my girls and I like to snuggle up in my bed and watch films. It's great that Netflix now has a lot of the classic Disney films as it gives us a lot of choice.

GrasshopperNchipmunk · 27/03/2014 20:53

Our whole family love netflix, me and my husband watch box sets, the kids watch films and cartoons and I'm half way through prison break from watching it when breastfeeding my newborn in the middle of the night!

It's great, and great that you can access your account from just about anywhere and on any device.

Love netflix, its ace.

deels · 30/03/2014 10:44

havent tried netflix but will give it a whirl as theres free trial.

maloofysmum · 01/04/2014 13:37

Love Netflix, just got it and was so pleased that they have every episode of Fringe my all time fav show.. love watching with a glass of wine and some nibbles, love also that you can fast forward, rewind so easily.... and if you watch episode after episode they take away the recap at the beginning, fab
Big grin: Grin

MorningTimes · 01/04/2014 19:32

We got the free trial of Netflix (to watch house of cards) & liked it so much that I have just cancelled our full sky package & will keep Netflix instead. This will be a huge saving every month.

DS1 is working through Top Gear (he gets up early in the morning to watch, no idea why he likes it so much) and something else about dinosaurs I think. We watch Netflix through the Wii.

DD1 watches kids' stuff on my phone when I need to keep her busy for 10 minutes.

DH & I settle down in the evening to watch house of cards, season 2. DH gets the tea ready for us both, I get the biscuits (or huge bag of Frazzles Blush ), we arrange the cushions behind us & a blanket over us & then snuggle up & chat about the episode as we watch Frank Underwood scheming away... Sometimes, we watch two in a row as a treat Grin

If DS lends me his xbox then I can even watch it in my bedroom this weekend!

anklebitersmum · 03/04/2014 17:35

Netflix via the wii here. Have been for the last 10 months. Other than a basic freeview that's us.

What more would we need?

The biters love it-and the kids netflix means I can leave the room with no channel hopping dramas.

Hubby and I love it because we can 'bulk watch' series together and make an actual list of what's on the 'want to watch list' for the months to come.

I love all the old films. Black and white classics with Jack Lemmon and Humpty Bogart for when DH is away and Disney for the biters.

Pj's on, blankets with arms fluffed and all the family snuggled in for a marathon tv session anyone?

Somebody fetch the Biscuit, Cake and a Brew cos I'm not moving Grin

kelzw84 · 09/04/2014 21:06

I love netflix.. its great for them cold windy days when your stuck in with the children. cuddled up on the sofa watching all the old films and childrens cartoons/film with popcorn.
Its also fab when me and friends have a girly night in. pizza, wine, facemask and a good chickflick or horror film

Rigbyroo · 10/04/2014 08:50

Netflix got me through some lonely breastfeeding days with a newborn a few years ago! Was perfect though and I will be using it again this time around, especially during night feeds with the laptop! So pleased that spiral is on there, sold my DVDs and want to watch again!

KateOxford · 10/04/2014 09:11

My husband watches Netflix a lot on his own but I always watch something with him on a Saturday night. Our ritual is getting the children to bed then sitting down with some nice food, if we are lucky an Indian takeaway then we choose something to watch. The husband is more of an expert at how it all works so he has normally chosen something light hearted and easy to watch. It makes us relaxed at the end of a busy week and happy because Netflix is so cheap it doesn't cost us a lot in entertainment.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 11/04/2014 19:10

Netflix has a great mix of things. There's lots for DD to watch or for us to watch as a family. DD loves a popcorn filled 'cinema' night (much cheaper than the 3 of us actually going to the cinema!) and I have been known to make tickets too, which DD loves.

Plus DH and I tend to watch a film or TV series in the evening to unwind. It's great as there's always something to watch. The price is brilliant too which means we're much more likely to get a supermarket takeaway or some ice-cream or similar as a treat.

We each have our own profiles so I know when I put it on for DD it's only children's things (or in her case BBC dinosaur documentaries too!) that show up for her to watch.

We access Netflix via our PS3 connected to our smart TV (there isn't an app for our TV so can't access directly). I've not used other devices although we do have iPads.
