Channel 4 have asked Mumsnet to find out what you think about their new series of One Born Every Minute (starting today, Monday 10th January at 9pm). We've recruited a special panel of volunteer viewers to add their comments to this thread. The panel are a mix of Mumsnetters, all of whom are parents, some pregnant, some not, some have seen the programme before, others haven't.

They would also love any other Mumsnetters - ie folks NOT in the panel - to add their comments here. Anyone who contributes to this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner, drawn at random, will win a £50 Amazon voucher.

We'll also be having a thread after the second programme, next Monday.

So, please post your thoughts and comments on the programme below. We'd welcome 'live' feedback during the broadcast as well as a comment at the end. If you can't post during the broadcast please add your thoughts by the end of Tues Jan 11th.

If you are a panel member please identify yourself as one when you first post.

Many thanks and enjoy!

It would be nice to see a normal labour. Hope they don't just picked all the over dramatic stuff.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/01/2011 21:23

Yeah, you see, when the midwife said to me 'just breathe through it' my response was 'f!? b* ***nting' Grin

Swaliswan · 10/01/2011 21:23

I really want her to get up off of the bed or at least go on all fours if it's that uncomfortable on her back.

MrsShrekTheThird · 10/01/2011 21:24

pmsl @ her saying "all these grown women" and not including herself.... she's 18 and old enough to have got there heehee

The younger mw doesn't seem to be coming across as 'good' as the older ones somehow, not as reassuring and understanding. pity. The ones I had with dd were youngish and fantastic.

Ralph definitely winning dickhead-dad award tonight Grin
(remember the loon in the last series with the blown up surgical glove?!)

MsInterpret · 10/01/2011 21:24

Bit more swearing for you now!

SilveryMoon · 10/01/2011 21:24

When I was in labour with ds1, I remember wanting to stand up and rock myself over the bed, but I was told to stay on my back as baby's HR was falling. Sad

Look at that dad looking a bit bored, that's what my dp looked like

kingprawntikka · 10/01/2011 21:24

Totally agree I wouldn't have wanted anyone but my husband either.
although with this guys running commentary on battle ground I can see why she's got her mum!

Teladi · 10/01/2011 21:25

Stephanie's labour is scaring me a bit.

I agree, Pesha, Ralph(?) is actually quite sweet with his girlfriend.

Are Stephanie and this other lady in giving birth at the same time?

MrsShrekTheThird · 10/01/2011 21:25

way too many of them flat on the bed for my liking too

Swaliswan · 10/01/2011 21:25

DH does not like Ralph either.

I still haven't been able to link this to fb. Is taking ages.

Poor Steph

Pesha · 10/01/2011 21:26

I swore a lot.
Although in my 1st labour I apologised after!

I really want her to move position!

MsInterpret · 10/01/2011 21:26

Agree. Scream your blooming lungs out love if you have to!

Purplepatters · 10/01/2011 21:27

I'm loving the screaming woman! And her midwife who keeps telling her that screaming doesn't help. She's not had any kids, has she....?!!

Swaliswan · 10/01/2011 21:28

There's nothing wrong with vocalising a bit of pain. DH is feeling sorry for the porter who is taking Stephanie downstairs to labour ward.

Although Stephanie does seem to be screaming a bit for effect...?!

SilveryMoon · 10/01/2011 21:28

I want to scream at them now. I remember my mw telling me to stop screaming and me telling her to stop telling e what to do and to fuck off Blush

Yeah, my DH just said that Swaliswan! Steph's labour is making mine look like a walk in the park Smile.

MrsShrekTheThird · 10/01/2011 21:29

I mooed like a cow having ds1. It was just what came out of my mouth - agree with doing what the heck you feel like!!!

whomovedmychocolate · 10/01/2011 21:30

Agree Purplepatters - may as well get practiced in screaming - they will be tantrumming two year olds before you know it! Wink

TheSkiingGardener · 10/01/2011 21:30

My first midwife kept telling me I was "safe" during contractions. I ended up snapping at her " I know I'm bloody safe, I'm in pain you twunt"

I agree that you've just got to do what you've got to do!
