Big Brother of course.

My radar went off as soon as he opened his mouth and continues to go off. Lovely guy- far too nice for the BB house. He's described himself as a geek, just wondered whether there was more tooo it (my radar went off big time when after Kinga was evicted he said, trying to be nice, "hmm well maybe its just that you're a bit too much sometimes". Ow! Completely true, but definitely something she didn'[t need to hear.

Hope he wins! (but he won't)

pleaserewind · 05/07/2005 11:32

i like eugene. I have an uncle like him.

Kelly1978 · 05/07/2005 14:31

prettycandles - I showed my dp ur post. He has a degree in computer science and works in IT. He is very offended.

spidermama · 05/07/2005 14:32

Aww yes tinker. He was really concerned about her wasn't he?

spidermama · 05/07/2005 14:42

I just want to protect Eugene from all the brash and cocky housemates?

fishfinger · 05/07/2005 14:42

does he knwo he hsas it?
do they knwo
think this is potentially diasterous

RTKangaMummy · 05/07/2005 15:09

here is an example of what they have done to him

fishfinger · 05/07/2005 16:51

hardly the worst hting int he world to do
if htey dont knwo he has a elarning problme it woudl be a normal kidn of trick

RTKangaMummy · 05/07/2005 17:01

I think the prob is that they just roll their eyes each time he starts to talk

And when he tells the same story for the 2nd or 3rd time they sometimes get up and walk away and sometimes he follows them or just carries on without an audience

fishfinger · 05/07/2005 17:04

silly to put him in then really

RTKangaMummy · 05/07/2005 17:10

I have feeling that he was put in for us and them to laugh at

I hope not

He may not know he is AS {Is that possible????}

fishfinger · 05/07/2005 17:11

seesm that way

spacedonkey · 05/07/2005 17:12

I can't imagine the programme makers would put him in on purpose to be laughed at. I thought all contestants were screened by psychologists before being allowed into the house?

RTKangaMummy · 05/07/2005 17:15

SD I am sure they couldn't if he knew he was AS

But if he thought he was a bit geeky then that is totally different

He said this afternoon that most people outside don't understand him when he talks and sometimes think he is agressive.

He talked again about the first aid course and reading out the list and people's reaction to him and how he spoke

spacedonkey · 05/07/2005 17:17

He is certainly beyond just geeky isn't he? I do feel a bit uncomfortable about him being in there, being the butt of practical jokes

RTKangaMummy · 05/07/2005 17:31

They have not put him up for eviction

MAXWELL and science

only just seen this thread - i am very ignorant about the autistic spectrum, but my radar went off immediately when he arrived. Can BB really be so brutal to put him in the house as the butt of everyone's jokes? I think it is run by 23 year olds who probably think he is hysterically funny, but not laughing with him if you know what i mean.

ruty · 06/07/2005 10:50

he is holding his own tho - i can't help liking him.

vickiyumyum · 06/07/2005 10:57

not sure about the AS, but i feel really sorry for him, maxwell and his cronies are so mean to him, blatently taking the mickey out of him. sometimes when you see him sat alone looking all sad i feel like crying for him!
send him to me i'll take care of him and protect him from the bullies

ScummyMummy · 06/07/2005 11:00

Definitely Jimjams. My radar went off instantly as well!

I like your "function" definition btw. Useful way of looking at things- I know quite a few people with marked AS traits who function extremely well and happily. I think that personality plays a huge part in how AS affects people too.

popsycal · 06/07/2005 11:04

i think so - he reminds me so much of a boy i used to teach
(btw havent read the whole thread jsut the title and first post)

bambi06 · 06/07/2005 11:13

someone else that thinks like me , i even posted that on another site last week , it seems obvious to me but maybe all us special needs parents now habe a very good radar for these things!

PrettyCandles · 06/07/2005 14:56

Kelly1978 - I'm also married to an engineer working in computers! He has some of Eugene's traits, though dh is'nt nearly as extreme as him, and he can't see anything wrong with Eugene...he just thinks he's a typically geeky techie-type, and what on earth are the rest of us going on about?

noddyholder · 06/07/2005 14:59

what are the things which make you think this.I am currently trying to help my brother who I suspect is AS I have seen Eugene but don't watch BB much this time. What specific things has he said/done?Thanks
