Big Brother of course.

My radar went off as soon as he opened his mouth and continues to go off. Lovely guy- far too nice for the BB house. He's described himself as a geek, just wondered whether there was more tooo it (my radar went off big time when after Kinga was evicted he said, trying to be nice, "hmm well maybe its just that you're a bit too much sometimes". Ow! Completely true, but definitely something she didn'[t need to hear.

Hope he wins! (but he won't)

Haven't watched Big Brother, so don't know, but what about 'bacteria', the guy in the Yaccult advert. Always seems a parody of AS to me, what do you think about it?

spykid · 04/07/2005 16:50

Good grief, that would make so much sense!
I really felt for him last nigght during the crying task. If this is the case then I hope its not a cruel social experiment on the part of Big Bro

Blossomhill · 04/07/2005 16:51

Jimjams - I thought I probably was wrong but that's how I have always read it iyswim

RTKangaMummy · 04/07/2005 16:53

here is one of the things that has happened

spykid · 04/07/2005 16:54

Starting to seem cruel..............

RTKangaMummy · 04/07/2005 16:56

I think one of the problems is the others don't "get him" IYSWIM

I hope he wasn't put in there with ch 4 wanting him to be made fun of

spykid · 04/07/2005 16:58

RTKM, am wondering the same, really cruel if thats the case.

Vote Eugene!!!!!!!!

SecondhandRose · 04/07/2005 16:58

I've noticed he has a stutter of sorts but he is very good at keeping it under control. Don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

RTKangaMummy · 04/07/2005 17:02

Hope not

Am sure he will be up this week though

along with science and maybe craig

sorrel · 04/07/2005 17:07

i think it is more like OCD. he does that thing where he has to give every single detail of his story and has no sense that the listener has completely glazed over and probably died of boredom.

Kelly1978 · 04/07/2005 17:10

I don't think he will, he not harming anyone and he not a threat. He'll prob be safe for a few weeks.

Chocol8 · 04/07/2005 17:11

I agree that he could be AS - remember when he came out of the diary room in the secret garden and said straight away "you may notice that I have been crying" - stating the obvious...again with the story of the first aid course - no punchline (which someone mentioned) but Mikosi was laughing thinking he was building the story up to it.

He seems like a really lovely genuine guy, but the lightbulbs, well...would seem like a sign to me.

RTKangaMummy · 04/07/2005 17:20

One of the things he likes to do is melt stuff in the microwave

anniebear · 04/07/2005 18:16

Here is his discription:-

Eugene
Eugene adores electronics but has a phobia of water tanks. He would love to meet Terry Wogan and is a member of a radio club. In his spare time, Eugene enjoys throwing TVs off cliffs to record the sound they make. He is a virgin and an Atheist and is currently learning to fly.

Jimjams · 04/07/2005 18:18

yup Aspie! Eugene to win!

RTKangaMummy · 04/07/2005 18:21

just a query really

can you be a little bit aspergers?

Jimjams · 04/07/2005 19:53

Many people have traits. I draw the line at how well someone copes. My old supervisor had a few traits but he was happily married, holding down a full time job (and was successful), had kids, could teach, give talks etc. No difficulties with life. I used to think he was AS. Knowing a lot more about autism now I no longer do. The people I know with AS struggle in general, some really struggle- probably to the extent that ds1 does (in different ways) even though they are light years more able than him and you would think it would be a breeze.

It's very interesting to read this thread, as Eugene seems a perfectly normal geeky techie type to me. I've known many male engineers or computer-techs who were exactly like him. At first I also wondered whether they had Aspergers, but over the years I've come to the conclusion that engineering and computing attract certain personalities. Not that all engineers are like Eugene! Eugene may well last longer than you expect - somehow many of these engineers I have known are very popular, despite what at first seems like very irritating and unaware behaviour.

TheRealMrsF · 04/07/2005 20:16

many AS people are VERY persistent...and don't give up...so even though i haven't a clue what he's like (i still haven't watched it!!!)...he will no doubt hang in there till the bitter end!!!

milge · 04/07/2005 23:27

I watched him carefully tonight and join the consensus that he must be on the autistic spectrum somewhere - did anyone see him be very specific how a cheese sandiwch was made, or detail in which receptacle his friends drank tea? he's such a sweetie but looks like a lost little boy in the house. He reminds me od my dd, they both don't really understand the world around them

Tinker · 04/07/2005 23:47

He is heartbreakingly sweet I think, asking Maxwell not to give Orlaith a hard time.

sorrel · 04/07/2005 23:51

dh wants to know which are the traits that eugene shows that might indicate he has AS? I am hopeless at explaing exactly what it is about him.

Flum · 04/07/2005 23:51

He's just a geek isn't he. Some of the blokes in my family have decided they have all got AS,bloody cop out for them. They are just anti social and got wierd counting habits. I do odd counting of words/letters when bored or bored of person talking to me, but not AS, just geekdom

Davros · 05/07/2005 08:50

My sister said there was an Aspie on Big Brother this year! This is the first time I haven't got into it, I've got a vague idea of who they are from Heat but have no interest this year

Blossomhill · 05/07/2005 09:36

Sorrel - one of the biggies for me is that he talks about things such as washing machines and really hasn't a clue how bored the listener is!
