cant really say anything wise
just wanted to let you know i would feel the same
sorry nothing better to say

MumOfThreeMonkeys · 21/10/2009 14:49

dunno what to do, deep down i really dont believe that it has been tested for long enough. on the other hand a 14 yr old girl with cp died here last week from swine flu- that is the reason that all children attending special school are getting it. im a bit shocked that it friday, not much time to think about it.

i agree with you i think it needs more testing before jabbing all our children with it but then again dont want to have swine flu either its a no win situation im afraid

MumOfThreeMonkeys · 21/10/2009 14:57

i have to give consent tommorow - not much time to decide

I have already written to them confirming that I do not want DS2 to have this or any other jabs and that they DO NOT have my consent.

He is at special school too but ASD specific

MumOfThreeMonkeys · 21/10/2009 15:12

dd is asd and sld but has ne medical conditions, so maybe she does not need to have it ?? OMG! this is like a lottery. totally agree with you bubble "no win situation"!

dd is going to have it at the gp's(not sure when yet)I debated about it, but decided that swine flu can kill, so I can't risk it

do you think it would affect that?
surely swine flu would be worse

DS2 will be having it. He has comprimised immune system and a distinctly dodgy respiratory system. He has the regular flu jab every year as well as the pnuemonia one when needed.

It is a hard decision to make though.

My SIL is a childrens nurse and they have had a child of similar age to DS2 with the same condition as him very, very unwell with swine flu. It has scared me into it tbh.

herjazz · 21/10/2009 16:57

I've been mulling over this today as well. Oh I dunno - my dd has loads of health probs so is at greatest risk of swine flu complications - bloody foot and mouth put her in hospital last week so I really shudder at what could happen with more serious viral infection.. but at same time I do feel iffy about vaccinations. Loads of stuff started up after mmr which I completely accept could be coincidence but .. ugh. Am a bit wobbly about lack of clinical trials re this one (but understand the rush to get it out). Feel like she would be the clinical trial

MumOfThreeMonkeys · 21/10/2009 17:04

If i was in your position riven i would be making the same decision. I think im gonna give consent for her to have it as i think the gov are playing down the risks involved with catching swine flu. I also think that this is a big gamble that I am taking with my childs health. I dont mean to sound laid back about this when i say, i'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best

"on the other hand a 14 yr old girl with cp died "

as dd is a 14 yr old girl with cp,, I think I have to

MumOfThreeMonkeys · 21/10/2009 17:13

totally with you 2shoes - that girls parents werent informed that she had died of swine flu until after her funeral- so there was a major kick up in the health dept here, thats when it was announced that all sc children would get the jab first. Im gonna sign her consent now.

I work in a Special School in N.I. we haven't had the consent forms back for Friday, we have no idea how many parents are going to say yes.

MumOfThreeMonkeys · 21/10/2009 17:26
