Just had a phone call from the dm regarding MR asking loads of questions and they threw me off with it all my mind went totally blank.

does anyone know roughly how long after the dm calls a decision is made?

hope all goes well for anyone calling today and awaiting decisions

I had 3 phone calls with a dm within 2 weeks the 3rd call was more questions and they were making decision after the 3rd phonecall and that same day I got my award xxxxxx

Oh bloody hell really! That’s a lot of phone calls for the dm to be making. I think I’m gonna leave it until Friday before I call to check. As if I get told no decision again I think I’m about to explode when the dm told me she would be making a decision today and that she’d make the decision today

Before she turns 16 you will be asked if you want to claim pip. Just after she turns 16 you will be sent pip forms.
They will pay dla until a desision is made on pip.

Hi all wondering if any of you could help me please. My daughter’s DLA was renewed 12th October and the outcome was fantastic. HRC and LRM for 5 years. Now just yesterday I received another letter dated 18th November saying we have looked at your claim again and changed our decision. Same rates but reduced to 2 years instead of 5. Why?? I never asked them to look at the claim again. I didn’t need to the first outcome was so brilliant!! So I don’t understand why it’s been looked at again and the length of claim massively reduced? Anyone else had this? I did call them and the lady didn’t really know why, said she’d get whoever made the 2nd decision to call me and explain but they haven’t. I’m just gutted that we had it secured for 5 years and now it’s only 2 years.
Please can anyone let me know if they have any ideas on this
Thank you

How old is your child if it works out that she will be 16 or over she can no longer get dla she would need to apply for pip and maybe that’s why if not then I would definitely be asking that should not just change it like that without a good reason that is very unfair am sorry there doing this some times I wonder if any of them know what they are doing it’s completely wrong !!

Thank you for your reply. She’s only 12. So no the 2 years only takes us until she’s 13 years 9 months as it was backdated until July. So renewal is July 2027. I agree it’s completely unfair and I’ll be calling again today to ask for a proper answer as no-one called me back as promised yesterday. It shouldn’t just change like that without proper reason you’re right exactly what I thought. I don’t think they do know what they’re doing it’s so wrong !!!!

Momof3boys2girls · 26/11/2025 09:45

Decision made this morning - wouldn’t tell me over the phone so going to call back and press option 4 and see if they can tell me

Hi would it not be because 5 years takes her over 16 and it would need to be pip then ? I would just give them a call and ask x

Yes could be but then they could change it to 3/4 years instead of dramatically reducing it to 2 years from 5 years, seems a bit harsh. I’ve called twice now and been told both times the decision maker will call me to let me know why this happened so just waiting for that call now. Thank you for replying 💖

Yeah had a call, they are saying to fill the form out with just the changes as they already have a note in the system to use my evidence as majority of the form but they need the actual changes in writing on a COC form as it’s a legal requirement for them to have it on that form to make a decision and that they should have contacted me to tell me this when they sent it to the COC team. They have said it wouldn't restart the claim (thank god) but it could still take a couple months depending on when it gets picked up by a DM but think that’s because they can’t give a timescale but she also said get it in asap as it could be picked up tomorrow so I’m getting the form in tonight and praying a decisions made before Christmas🙈 You heard anything yet X

Fingers crossed they keep your place in the queue!
Im not expecting to as our sd is 16/05 for coc
And atm im battling to try and get my other sen little man an ehcna assesment as he was declined last week.
Plus my mum ( non bio but defo my mum ) funeral is next week :-(

X

I really hope you get this sorted it’s not right or fair we only want what our children deserve I honestly sometimes think they do understand the stress worry us as mums have and it’s u fair that we have to fight so hard for our children to get the help they need to make things a tiny bit easier for them in a cruel world

Thank you so much. I know. It’s so unfair what us SEN mum’s go through. It’s a whole different world of parenting and the broken systems just make it so much harder 💔

I’m hoping that’s the case🤞🏽 I’ll let you know if I hear anything, I’m going to call on Friday and make sure everything has went through ok, I done the form last night and to be fair wasn’t as bad as I thought and it was actually good to go over all his needs again and make sure I wrote everything down as with it being an mr it was only the one page I filled out about his sleep and I’ve just been adding his new medications on or changes as handwritten notes so was good to put it all together and make sure I hadn’t missed anything.

so sorry to hear, you seem to have a lot going on😥, 🤞🏽 you here before Christmas, so hard fighting for what our kids deserve, my little one is supposed to start school in August next year but I feel he isn’t ready, hes only attending 2 hours 2/3 days a week at nursery so I’ve decided to defer him another year but I feel so guilty because I don’t know if he would get more support at school and he’s been so hard to settle at nursery and he’s been there over a year and still crying going in but he does seem okay when he is there but very reserved and dependent on having an adult with him. Dreading having to fight for the right support when he goes to school, what do you do next after a decline, can you ask them to look again or is that it you just have to accept it?🙈X

That's ridiculous if she already had a claim why do you need to redo it they could have just done a coc x

It was an mr but they had a copy of the report from her consultant detailing everything and I sent more evidence for what was highlighted in the report. The dm was only focusing on the absent seizures

It's not fair atall its hard enough what we have to deal with everyday let alone fighting for what they deserve it's so unfair x

It really is. My sons both got declined first time didn’t even bother with an mr for them. And just went straight to another new claim and they got awarded the second time round. Just hoping this is the case with my daughter
