After googling about wait times found this thread. My eyes have been well and truly opened 😵Didn't realise there was a specific way to fill the form in just filled it out as i thought submitted in February, declined in June phoned up to argue and MR submitted with additional evidence as i paid privately whilst waiting for NHS to get bums in gear, also didn't realise i was supposed to ask for the statement of reasons for decline! Now waiting to hear back about MR had two letters telling me wait time is 15 weeks but when i've called been told there is no timeline and i'll just get a letter when they make a decision. Is there anything i should do whilst i'm waiting considering it appears i've done it all wrong

I hope someone can help me figure out payment dates as I am so confused.

Ive just received my little mans renewal award letter. He turned 5yrs old on the 24th Aug and became eligible for the mobiity component. The new award is MRC + LRM. On the 21st October I received a full payment of MRC. On the 7th November ( the day before his previous award was due to end ) I received a partial payment of £233.60. Ive been informed this is 3 weeks MRC+LRM but thats clearly not right as that would be £309.30. I was told when I called DLA previously that the 3 week payment was the end of the previous award payment.

The wording on the letter says " We will pay you £233.60 into your bank account. We owe you this money as the amount of DLA you can get has changed."

There is no mention of backpay.bu the letter says hes entitled to LRM in addition to MRC from 27/08.

I am so confused and would appreciate any help in helping me understand the letter etc.

I phoned DLA just now just see if there was any update. She said a decision was made on the 7th (Friday) and she couldn’t tell me what the outcome was but I also asked if they did receive extra evidence I sent (they said last week they did receive it but just wanted to double check) and she said that they didn’t receive it. So now I’m a bit stuck I’ve not had any payment come through and my bank doesn’t let me see any pending payments and I feel that the extra evidence I sent was the perfect evidence to describe my sons needs at nursery (huge report from SEND early years) and it backs up the support I have in place for at home and everything. Has anyone else had anything like this and is there anything I can do. I just don’t want lost evidence being the reason my son misses out

What was your scan date and was it a NC. Also if they recieve it after a decision was made and its dated before they made a decision it should be taken into consideration.

CuckooMamgu · 11/11/2025 13:42

@Muvva1981 The £233.60 is 8 weeks of LRM, they owe you that for the period 27th August until 21st October as thats when they last paid you.

When your next payment is due next week, you'll get MRC and LRM x 4 weeks for the period 22nd October to 18th November so you'll get £412.40 and that will be your new regular payment amount..

It was a new claim 29/30th July I managed to get through and I’ve been told he’s awarded middle rate care no mobility but he’s 3 so not surprising. I do believe my son fits for hrc though as it’s like having a newborn he doesn’t sleep and is up for hours throughout the night and I have to stay with him I have to do everything for him I have to get him dressed as he can’t change nappies feed him so he actually eats he has no awareness of others or really himself and puts himself in danger and hurts himself and others when he’s distressed and he has to be supervised 24/7 as he is so unpredictable and doesn’t understand danger and the extra evidence stresses this and states what level of development he’s at too and he’s working at a 12-20 month old as a 3 year old

I did an MR for my daughter as they firstly awarded her Mrc but she needs day and night care for long intervals and the DM rang me and said its easier to speak about my usual day and night over the phone and the same day they awarded her hrc so may be worth doing an MR

You can ring them up and then theres an option for mandatory reconsideration and you can do it over the phone- you can send more evidence if you feel like you need too aswell however the dm i had said he'd gone back through the initial evidence and can see she needs day and night care multiple times

Have you heard anything over yours seems like been waiting for ages.

Ive just rang now to see if they got my final piece of evidence. They havent got it yet, but think i messed up and forgot to put their reference numbers on. But he put a note on the system detailing who the evidence from, what date it has on it etc. And to look out for it but he said it takes 7-10 days to process evidence without reference numbers. He also said im in the final que before going to DM (whatever that means) and that i should hear something soon. He also put a note saying to text me once the claims have been reviewed. Just so stressed out.

Kirsty3kids · 11/11/2025 14:21

I messed up also with my claim I put my national insurance number on the extra evidence as when I ring up that’s what they ask for so am assuming I have a long wait ahead fingers crossed you here something soon

Im so sorry you didnt get the award you believe your child deserves. I would definitely do a MR if i was you. Your child sounds very similar to my twin daughters and my oldest daughter all of which have GDD.

I called them up, received a message saying they'll look into the backdating cos they kept ignoring me, then i can see the backdated money pending tomorrow in my bank but still not had a reply from them lol! Plus the backdated money is £60 less than it should be for 3 months of money so I don't know how they work it out lol. Call them and they have 48hours to respond about it xx

I think I’m going to give them a ring tomorrow and see if I can do an mr I just don’t want his award to be taken away altogether it’s just so tough I think to put into words what day to day life is like because to me it’s normal and I think that might be where I messed up on the application it’s like I just want to invite the decision makers round to see what 24 hours is like for my son and as they didn’t contact me or my sons nursery it’s like we can’t exactly plea my sons case

NC, SD 8/10, so 5.weeks ago tomorrow. Just seen pending payment for tomorrow of £698. How do I work out what that is and how do I find out when I need to reapply (!)
Thanks. Can't quite believe it!

Hi, how are you getting on? Feel like I’ve missed loads from these threads 😂 I’m so nervous, it’s really stressing me out at the minute. My mam thinks it’s a good thing that I’ve been asked to go to court in person as I can tell them properly rather than written down and there’ll be more emotion behind it etc but I’m terrible with face to face things x

Absolutely is a good thing. Go and fight for your little one. 😍 Have you had a date yet. ❤️
I spoke to dla yesterday.😢 They have been asked 4times to reply since July and havent. Now hearing is being set without them. So i called them. They said friday a pack was being put together for the courts so im guessing they havent over turned decision.. delightful.. Tribunal here we come.. Not hopeful 😢 though. X

So I spoke to such a kind lady in option 4 who confirmed my son has been awarded HRC and LRM. I’m overjoyed. 2 year award. I’ve messaged UC to confirm change and requested disabled child and carers element be back paid and added to my current UC claim. This is life changing for us. I feel overwhelmed though as I’m not going to be able to spend the extra £1250 per month and with UC I’m allowed to have £6k capital before my amount is reduced. I’d dropped a day from work so the extra will help financially as the day off will mean I can have a better work life balance. I’d been struggling with my wellbeing due to the increasing demands of caring for my son. I hope everyone gets what’s needed for their children xxx

A decision could be made today or even two weeks time. It just depends on the dm tbh. But shouldnt be too long. When was your scan date?
