Hello everyone :)

My 5yo sons current award is due to end tomorrow. He currently gets MRC .I called 2days ago to be told it was now with a decision maker. Renewal was scanned in on the 9th July.
I called back yesterday , used Option 4 as I have had so much clarity etc using that option and thats from advice on this thread so for that I thank you :)
A lovely older sounding gent told me that my sons renewal has been done.

He remains on MRC with LRM added from his 5th birthday on 24th Aug. Award runs till 24th Aug 2027 so another 2yr award which is fine.

I do have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with if thats ok?

Am I correct in thinking my son will get LRM backdated from his 5th birthday to the 9th Nov as that will be the first day of the new award?

I receive his last 3 weeks payment today of his current award so how will that work out going forward with regards to payment dates ?

All I had in regards to new evidence to submit was his ehcp that was issued in March, I then sent a further amended ehcp special delivery on 6th Aug with a cover letter explaining which part is different . (Section i ) The local authority conceded at the first response of an appeal I registered and he starts at a wonderful specialist school soon.

I am already planning for the next renewal. I know when the time comes around again I will have so much more evidence. Care plans, reports from his specialist school etc. Hopefully that will see a longer award.

With this being my first renewal for my son, is a 2yr award commonplace for that first renewal? We are over 2yrs into awaiting for his autism assesment so does this hold any weight for a longer award next time?

I know this has been a long post but its literally the only time of day I can think clearly.

Hi , you will get back payment from his 5th birthday for the mobility.

Its standard practice for 2 year awards for young children with Autism. I have asked this each time a renewed my daughters. Some may have had longer but not many under 11 yrs of age.

Yes , I was told that and it was a week.

Did they specifically say not with a dm to you but should be 2-3 weeks. They also said they are waiting for my extra evidence before giving to a DM. Ive recieved that today and im going to send off tomorrow. Im just panicking in case they dont get awarded what they deserve.

It wasn't with DM they said it was in the que abd should be with a DM in 1 and half to 2 and weeks. I was caught up in pre 15th July babk log and being twins. That's why I waited 19 weeks exactly. I dont think yours will be too long.

Thank you its really helped. Hopefully its like yours then and only a week. I just overthink everything and second guess myself. Ive just been diagnosed with adhd myself. Now waiting for an autism one as she said she noticed a few traits.

Also hoping ive sent enough evidence off. As i didnt with my other daughter and having to go through MR for her.

Can someone work this out for me NC from 8/10 payment for £515.50 pending for Monday. Is that high care and low mobility?

Wow that is so quick. We have the same date. Just checked and nothing pending yet. I literally have no idea whether I will get anything. £515 sounds like a lovely amount!

When ds was 5 he was awarded dla until his 13th birthday. His diagnosis is ASD and GDD. Still got 5 years left.
My daughter was always a 2 year award with a diagnosis of ADHD and ASD. When she was 13 she was given a 4 year award. When she switched to pip she got a 8 year award.

Thank you! Yes I’m pleased I rang them it’s MRC and LRM which I think is fair even if it is the 3rd time applying over the years! It was very quick the payment t is pending for Tuesday but I can see it now so 🤞you hear soon.

ProudZebra · 07/11/2025 22:05

Hi all, me again 😬 I haven’t been on for a little while because I was getting myself so stressed but I’m back now, stressing again 😂 I got a letter in the post this morning saying my appeal hearing didn’t go ahead as planned (I didn’t know it had been planned) and it had been adjourned because they want me to appear in person, I’m guessing it’s because his disease is so rare that no one really knows or understands how it affects his everyday life. I’ve spent most of the day on google trying to prepare myself but I’m so stressed! They said it will go ahead at the first available date so I guess there’s an end in sight one way or another, this has been going on 18mths now! Ah honestly, my heads all over the place 😔

Red1991 · 07/11/2025 22:14

Has anyone ever rang and gave a reason as to why the untouched form should be prioritised and succeeded?

MPs are able to do this. You need to contact your local MP who can ask for the decision to be expedited, especially if the delay is causing difficulties.

When I questioned them this time on our 3rd 2 yr award they said they can improve with Autism. And that is the standard award length.

Hello, NC - S/D 13/10. I’ve had a text then a letter with up to 15 weeks, we have Paediatrics appointment for ADHD assessment next week but I’m happy that school and GP gave full details of his needs across both home and school. I might call to see if it’s worth me sending the Consultants report 😬
hope everyone is ok xx

Mommas17 · 08/11/2025 05:31

Yes but only been waiting since 8/10 so expecting to wait a little longer, although summertime yesterday had their classroom go through from same date, so hoping it might be quicker than expected!

Cutie101 · 08/11/2025 11:57

Are people hearing they've been successful by email/text/letter or because they are seeing it in their bank? How can people see money pending?

AmusedHazelCat · 08/11/2025 12:05

DM maker just rang me regarding our MR he was really nice and I called yesterday it wasnt even with a DM and he said a decision wouod be made today!

Texts are very hit and miss a lot of people don’t receive them and there is 2 types of texts that get sent out one says your child qualifies and the other we’ve made a decision, the we’ve made a decision text could be a decline or being accepted, letters take ages to arrive and if awarded you would see the back payment in your bank before the letter comes. Most people find out mostly from calling up and asking for an update or seeing the back payment in their banks, some banks have pending payments and some don’t.
