He was on MRC and LRM. I got through and his award has stayed the same, exactly what I feared would happen. They didn't clearly read through the evidence provided and noted he has the same needs as another 10 year old! Clearly the hospitals are full of 10 year old who sustained injuries whacking themselves in the face on a daily basis. I'm so hurt to hear that just because a child who has ASD can manage to go to mainstream due to his abilities in math has been compared the same as another child his age.. this is a child who has no understanding of danger, who wakes in the middle of the night looking to make snacks and searching for devices and tries to bolt when he hears dogs barking.
I think what happened is that they wanted his award out of the way becuase today was the 30 week deadline.
I am putting in for an MR but im sure after a long wait I'll be told the same thing !
Anyways, I wish everyone good luck from the bottom of my heart and may your children be given the awards they truly deserve 💗

What award was you hoping it would change to? I’m so sorry your going to have to wait even longer for a MR but it definitely sounds like it’s needed, ask for a statement of reasons to be sent out, you’ve then got all that time to keep sending in evidence as it comes. I really don’t know how they decide the high rate care my sons on melatonin and I have to lay with him to get him to sleep and I’m in and out all night from him shouting me and he’s still on MRC but my daughter who I’m waiting for her coc is up nearly all night, does dangerous things, leave these house in the night, holds her wee then soaks through her nappy and over the bed, she isn’t on melatonin just yet but I wonder if it’s enough to change to HRC. It’s so hard isn’t it because we know what our children are like but we have to convince a complete stranger of their needs. Good luck with your MR

scan date 18/03 DECISION MADE TODAY !
we’ve gone from MRC to HRC and mobility remains at LRM - my coc took exactly 30 weeks !

Edited

Congratulations on your award, I can’t believe how long it takes just to get a decision for coc 😞 was this the award you was aiming for?

Hi, yes, I provided substantial evidence and detail which was ignored and rushed to meet their deadline. I only condensed it in my previous post just go give an idea of the things we deal with. The kind of snacks he seeks are instant noodles which he knows how to cook and will go and try to turn on the hobs and boil the kettle. Given his impulsivity, I dread him holding a kettle full of boiled water not just for his own safety but for the safety of his siblings. Even with the device, i exploaned that when he finds them and can't use them becuase they are locked, he whackes himself with it. Takes ages to then treat his bruises with ice and regulate him.
It's very disheartening 😕
I hope you receive good news 🙏

I totally understand what you're saying as my son also makes super noodles on the hob at 3am 🫠
Unfortunately when you go into explaining on the form about snacks and devices the reason the child wakes up is completely overlooked, if you're doing a MR try and focus on the reason the child wakes and what you have to do to help the child get back into bed and back off to sleep and how long and how often that takes and you could explain the child trys to engage in activities that are dangerous and require supervision so you have to keep prompting to return to bed. Hope that helps a little. The forms are difficult and wording is hard to 💫

Curlycookie5 · 14/10/2025 14:14

PositivityRipples · 14/10/2025 13:53

I'm sorry you didn't get the award you had hoped for, did you write the child has night needs because the child wakes up looking for snacks and devices on the form?
Unfortunately if you did that doesn't equate to night needs, night needs are defined as the child needing care with bodily functions, bodily functions do cover a wide variety of care needs like dysregulation, anxiety, emotions, functions of the brain and nervous system, toilet needs, medication needs but it does not cover snacks and devices, if the child wakes and is unable to go straight back to sleep you would explain what you have to do as the care giver in the night, offer reassurance, put them back to bed, sit with them, help them regulate whilst also supervising to make sure they stay safe, dont leave the house, play with the cooker, fall down stairs, open windows, dangerous, unpredictable behaviour ect ect.. Im only writing this as may help you if you decide to do a MR.

Currently on hold option 4 MR 4/4
I will update the thread once i get through 💫

Good luck 🤞

Just got through the lovely man waffled on for 20 minutes about wait times and nonsense and managers and times scales 😂🤪 he basicly said that the call handler on the 10th Oct emailed the manager to escalate my case but the manager ignored the email as they have over 50 escalations a week, he said they are only on the first week of march for MR so he told me to wait until the first week of December to call back 🤣 i said im nearly at 28 weeks and i work in the bridge at HMRC and can see just from today there's been awards for MR for 4th,12th and 17th of April he was like oh okay, i said you just made that up about beginning of march didn't you and he started laughing and said no but ive answered 3 calls today with MR decisions from beginning of march.. I said I'll call back next week he said no need ive put you down for a text when decision is made.. I said thanks but there is a need ive waited nearly 28 weeks and it will be a year on 24th October since my new claim in 2024.. 😁💫

Honestly they are just making things up on the phone ✨ he was lovely though bless him

Yes it’s shocking isn’t it but had the most helpful man on the phone who apologised it had taken so long.
we really wanted HRC and are so pleased her award reflects her complex care needs

You would think they are quality checked and that they are held accountable for their actions and lies! To laugh as well is absolutely awful! You've waited long enough as it is, to then be told a load of crap, and you know its crap!
I'm sick of being told they will text me when a decision is made, like that makes everything better and gives us reassurance!
I'm calling on Thursday, I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and they need to give me some kind of answers now, not that I think I'll get one lol

WaryPoet · 14/10/2025 23:41

Princessmom222 · 13/10/2025 13:15

Its just that twins have to go to the twin team and have to be looked at by the same decision maker!

I seen a new claim on here i believe was a day before ours awarded last week! Also my cousin who is the 29th was awarded to for her son.
So your shouldnt be much longer. Hopefully!

Thank you i appreciate it!

Well in that case, I hope you get the best, most level-headed DM 🌹

Ah I've not seen fb, feel like I aren't hope too hard. My MR claim was just a straight reject after a 27 week wait, so I'm unconvinced it's worth getting hopes up (':

You sound like you got the same man as I did last week. He talked forever about how wait times were only 4 weeks when he started working for DWP over 20 years ago. He was lovely but I didn't find out any new news!

It finally happened!! Got back pay for HRC LRM today. Exactly 19 weeks. SD 04/06 NC. I think she's entitled to HRM but I didn't really have the evidence to back it up so I'll probably do a COC once I have it. Good luck everyone x

Congratulations, it must be such a relief. Definitely do a COC if you feel like she should get HRM x

COC date 27/5, just had £766 exactly back payment when we had the usual MRC payment yesterday. I think that's put him from MRC to HRC and they must have decided to give him LRM and not HRM from his birthday next month.

Congrats tho!

Morning, hopefully you get good news today, did the DM just call for security questions and banking confirmation or did they ask you to expand on the care and mobility for your child?

Hi

Congrats tho!

I wrote it as both with him turning 5 in a couple of weeks but I wanted to try for HRC so it seems they definitely looked at it as both. Had a sleep plan and diaries from his LD nurse, an EHCP with his Sen school he's now started and his autism diagnosis since the last renewal so a lot of new evidence.

Wow 20 weeks for both on a COC, that’s amazingly quick! Congratulations will you be calling to find out the rates and length they’ve awarded?
