I rang up this morning to ask for an update my sons scan date for new claim is the 10th of July I was told last week it has been with a DC since the 10th of September and I was told this morning a decision hasn’t been made and it can take ages before I get one as they have thousands to get though

Oilytoe90 · 22/09/2025 09:24

Currently on hold to find out if decision has been made yet 🤞🤞

Congratulations on the award. But sorry your daughter got declined. You've had a long wait as well where they both new claims.

Yes both new claims, as she's only 3 they declined saying age related
I'm not sure of the Mr process, what reports etc I would need?

Oilytoe90 · 22/09/2025 09:44

I'm fuming!! They dropped him down to mid rate care and still low mobility. I didn't even do COC for for the care. OMG I'm so angry!! So now MR is gonna take another 6 months. Deffo not right

What evidence did you send ?

My twins are 2 yrs old. I've yet to have a decision. I've sent the sen inclusion report, there referral to speech and language and OT. Statement from nursery senco worker and health visitor notes stating they are functioning at 9 months of age and 18 months of age.

I also stated in the notes section how they are different from other 2 yr olds. Oh and I did sleep diaries.

I believe to do a MR you have to call for a statement of reasons (think that's what it is called.)

Referral letters to portage and speech and language, audiology report, referral to paediatrics, referral to sleep clinic

At the time she wasn't attending a preschool so haven't sent any statements from there. I'm debating just waiting til we've seen all these people and had the reports back to decide on whether to just process a new claim

Do the MR as its a long wait and as you get evidence you can send it. Make sure you do a statement out lining how your daughter is different from another 2 year old. Also will you be sending her to nursery ? If so get the senco worker to observe and right a statement.

Does she go to any play groups if so get someone there to write a statement.

OMG!!! I so sorry, from what you’ve said your child should be on a higher award! What happens if they change the award to a lower rate? Do you have to pay them back the overpayment? I can’t believe this is the outcome for you I would fight it all the way and ask for it to be looked at again as a emergency as your award has gone down which makes it financial hardship paying for things for him

KatieAML · 22/09/2025 10:59

NC SD 29/7
just received another letter today stating that they was sorry for how long it’s taking and that they make a decision with in 15 weeks

anyone received this letter before and then not long been awarded? Just curious being I’ve already received letter and text at the beginning and now this one on top…

If care needs have slightly changed since when the application went in do you think a new claim would be better, for example, now mostly potty trained, but holds urine and leaks through consistently at night requiring full changes? But when I first applied she was only just showing interest, she's now started preschool, still frequent wakes in night an no improvement to sleep pattern, still little to no awareness of danger and falls frequently
I just don't know the best route to take going forward

He was HRC LRM i only asked them to COC the mobility. Surely they can't change the care. He's entitled to high high. Once I get the letter I'm doing MR and im going down financial hardship route. Don't have to pay anything back, it's just a change in future payments

Did you fill in any of the section under the care on the COC form? I don’t understand how they did care cus there was a section for care needs and a section for mobility needs and I tick box of what uou are doing a COC for? it really doesn’t make sense

It asked if his care needs had changed and I ticked no, the woman I spoke to even said that so it shouldn't have been looked at.

A lot of COC go to dm at 28 weeks so they probably have made a decision or it’s with a dm by now. They just say it will take longer to stop us calling.

Oh really I didn’t know that. I’m coming up for 29 weeks but that’s over a few Bank holidays too so figured it could be longer x

There’s a few other people your week for COC but they’ve not posted yet, I wonder if they have received a decision yet? I haven’t seen a COC go over 30 weeks in a long time on here but most are with a dm at 28 weeks, some decisions are made in a day some abit longer. Hopefully you hear some good news soon
