Hey @Meglee93 just thought I’d give everyone a quick update on UC
i informed them about change of award and requested backpay on 7th Aug both children were verified within 24hours! But back payment took forever I received a letter on the journal on 29th Aug to say they have agreed back payment for both carers element and high rate DLA.. payment for carers was sent on 4th Sept and only today I received a letter on journal to say I will get high rate Dla backpay on 14th Sept so all in all taken just over 5 weeks! I had to call them twice in between this as I was getting no response on the journal I think that’s the best way to get them to get a move on by calling them
Good luck to everyone still waiting x

NC SD 16th July, had a text this morning saying my son qualifies - called yesterday at 11am to let them know there is massive delay on post in my area and it’s taking 3 weeks to get to me so she put a note on the system to send me a message if they needed anymore info, and then I asked if it was with the DM yet and she said no it’s still in the holding queue waiting for a DM to pick it up but then I had a text this morning!

LucindaJane · 13/09/2025 11:40

Is it the same wait for new claims if they're gonna be rejected? I'm wondering whether there's 2 parts to the decision making process - "yes this child meets the criteria for DLA" and "now let's determine the rate"

Curlycookie5 · 13/09/2025 12:16

@Soph2222 Congratulations! I think they just don’t like to tell us if it’s with a dm or not to avoid us ringing.
@LucindaJane You won’t find out the decision until it’s been with a decision maker but I do offer wonder if someone reads over if to make sure everything is there before going in a queue for a dm?

Mumonthebrink2025 · 13/09/2025 14:21

HRC and LRM....i'm currently applying for a change of circumstances to try and get higher rate mobility under SMI and to see if they will lengthen the award date (originally 2 years). At first I was very happy with the award and then DD started trying to self harm in traffic and I realised how helpful the mobility scheme would be, as I'm currently learning to drive. I also realised how much the thought of re-applying was affecting my mental health, so I decided to also try and ask for a longer award. There's no harm in trying.

I've just completed the mobility section of the form after receiving it about 10 days ago, and hoping I can go through the care part in the next few days, get it sent off, then start looking through evidence, photocopying and sending off. I'm so pleased with myself as the forms took me a year last time, as I was so overwhelmed by it all.

LucindaJane · 13/09/2025 17:28

@Curlycookie5 yes that makes sense to me. I'm just hoping no news yet is good news. I keep getting my hopes up seeing July scan dates on here 😂

Hi first time posting, I called DLA awhile back and they said they received my son’s COC paperwork, will that also be the date they scanned it or just received? Going to call on the 23rd as it will have been 15 weeks from the date they gave me. Getting rather anxious now, hoping we’ll at least get LRM, if not upped to HRC!

The date they received woulsnt be fhe date they scanned it. I also wouldnt hold your breath for 15 weeks thats just a generic time line they say, it seems COCs and MRs are taking at least 6 months

Great, thank you. That’s a ridiculously long time. Just wanted to see if they could give me a timeline then but I may leave it a bit longer.

Did you not receive a letter stating when they received it? I’m at 23 weeks for a COC but I know some on here are nearly 29 weeks still waiting for a decision. It’s a long wait.

No, I had to ring, she said they received it 10th June. I wasn’t going to bother until staff at his school (special, I also work there) think he’ll be eligible for HRC and LRM, and with the transport issues I’m having, just getting LRM would be great so it could reduce my bill.

10th June would be your scan date then, COC have been all over the place just lately everyone around my scan date received their decisions at 21 weeks but end of Feb and some March dates are still waiting. I think I’m the last April on here. I totally agree it’s worth a try anything extra helps our children, my daughters paediatrician couldn’t believe she was only on MRC but I didn’t have any diagnosis or professional input when I first applied so I’m now doing a COC with loads of evidence and diagnosis. The waiting is just horrible though 😞

Ahh okay that’s reassuring then that at least it’s in the system. Bless you, that’s awful you’ve been waiting that long! We last applied at 3 and got MRC (he’s had it pretty much his whole life due to a metabolic condition) but he was well on the way to ASD diagnosis too by then and not much has changed in two years so people think he should get HRC seen as he has both conditions and how much supporting evidence I sent 🙈 that’s why everyone pushed me to do it as we now have diagnosis and in his second year at a special school, but we’ll see. I’ll give them a call at 15 weeks anyway I think, just to see if they can tell me anything but I doubt it!

My daughters paediatrician almost fell off his seat when I told him she was on MRC and no mobility 😂 he actually then wrote a very good statment for her MR once I told him

My daughter’s paediatrician letter seems a good one too hopefully they help to get the right award 🤞 how many weeks are you on now? It feels like we’ve been on here together for ages 😣

Emmy990 · 15/09/2025 07:12

Well I am officially week 28 as of tomorrow for COC, SD 04/03
not sure wether to ring today or wait until tomorrow (don’t know if monday is a busier day to ring) also nervous in case they say oh yep it’s done and my COC wasn’t awarded. He’s definitely entitled but I have seen a few you’d think would be that have had a decline 🫣
anyone else ringing today?
